Axell Hodges question

I’m sure this has been brought up before, but why doesn’t he race Supercross? I had some videos of him show up on Facebook and his riding skills are amazing and seems like he’d be good at SX from how technical he rides.

because he probably couldnt win the C class even again like he did in 2012. He's a free rider, not a hungry racer at heart.

its not like he wouldn't have a factory built pc bike and track if he wanted to go racing...
why waste the money and time getting prepared to barely be top 20, racing is hard and take him a couple years to jump back in and be 10-15 on a really good bike. imo.
when you can ride with your homies, burn some fatties and win X games type events
and be an influencer making more money than the guys in the top 5-10 racing...

id go his route, seems easier.

Gotcha, didn’t know. He just looked really technical, but yes just a video. Not hating on him, just asking. I’m sure he makes a better living and less pressure.

Here’s a short video from X Games about Axell and his choice from to switch racing to freeride: https://youtu.be/WWrL4GFwup4

Exactly. I was curious and hadn’t watched that video before.

He found a way to make a living out of what he loves. It's one of the best things that can happen in life. It's a big risk specially in this sport, just look at the guys who train all year and dedicate everything they have into racing just to burn out and barely get paid, obviously this doesn't work without having the passion for racing.
On the other hand.. FMX is also a niche sport. It takes a lot of talent, risk and mental strength to get far and do what these guys do. I definitely would rather watch a race over an FMX event on any given day, but can't deny how mindblowing it is.
His dad btw seems like an awesome dude, would always support his son no matter what!

Why doesn’t he? Because he would have to put in more work, and would make less money.

He clearly has a good thing going. Good on him

I assume he doesn’t race supercross for the same reason I don’t

For the same reason I'm not a professional soccer player. I just hate the fame. Laughing

He Answered this on one of his social media posts one time a few years back. Basically gets paid way more for his free riding and doesn’t have to train like a marathon runner. Not word for word but that’s basically what he said.

And I assume he has connections in the video side for marketing himself too, isn't his brother "Dirt Shark?"

He makes more than anyone in the 250 class, including Jett and more than all but 2-3 in the 450 class.

That’s why.

You say racing is hard, but so is what he does.

Slightly different skillset than turning a fast laptime on a track.

Is this fact or speculation?

I ask because moto earnings are super hush hush. You might know that to be fact. You also might be talking out of your ass. I, for one, have always wondered how axell’s compensation stacks up compared to the big dog racers. Sponsors don’t pay for wins, they pay for exposure. That fella sure seems to get a bunch of that.

I’d love to see him spin some laps on an sx track. It would either be really cool, or give us a truely good idea at how hard supercross is. Because he has some incredible bike control.

Because he’s not good enough. Neither are any of us. It’s not a big deal.

You may remember Tyler Bereman and Darryl Durham raced lights class back in (I think) 2018. They’re both insane free riders but ran mid pack over the series. Bereman might even be better at free riding than Hodges.

Axel has managed to make a really good living riding a dirt bike—perhaps a better one than most of the guys who line up for supercross races. There’s no reason to get on the internet and ask why his career doesn’t look like something other than it is.

Was gonna start a poll and ask where you guys think he ranks in the freestyle Freeride of Mount Rushmore. say guys like metzger, tp 199, hart, even crusty guys like seth and etc in this ranking. His skills on a dirt cycle are undeniable and impressive every new video I see

I just asked a question. I saw a couple of videos and was impressed. I wasn’t slamming him at all chill out dude.

Durham won a race. New Orleans.

Also had multiple podiums and top fives. Rode for PC.

I was talking about the “East coast is toast” campaign he and Bereman did together. I thought that part was pretty clear. Looks like it was 2016. Wanna tell me what his best result was that year?

Post up he makes vs Jett and everyone else. Or maybe you're pulling that out of your ass

Hmm…. Your original post only said they raced lites and finished mid pack.

Just adding facts to a vague statement.

No biggie. All good.

However bro…..

Durham raced lites many years before that and won a race and placed on the podium and top five multiple times.

So, in response of your original post I don’t think Durham should be mentioned in the same sentence as Bereman or Hodges as far as free riders with racing speed. He was purely a racer, for years before free riding with amazing results.

Respectfully, Bro.
