Newbie so please excuse silly or obvious questions

I have a 73 CZ 250 which needs some (arguably a lot) work and parts,
Engine - one of the transmission bearings is wasted which is what took the bike out of service circa 1979-1980. While it was sitting in my basement, both wheels broke. I'm wondering if that is common with this bike. I see wheels can still be purchased which is encouraging although I also have a Yammie 81 YZ125 and was thinking those wheels would be nice on the CZ if they could be adapted. Wonder if they would be considered Vintage legal for racing. The rear on the Yammie is chain on the right so it matches the CZ.

I bought CZ airshocks for it which I still have. I ran a Cleansweep pipe on the bike from the get go and also still have a completely fresh exhaust system. The bike ran well with the jikov carb with the CleanSweep.

When I uncrated the bike in 1975, I took off the tank and the front fender and like the aforementioned exhaust, they are in pristine condition other than a bit of dust. The seat is also in excellent condition. If it turns out the project is more than I feel like I should take on, everything would be up for sale.

Wondering what shops near or far from DC would be helpful to get to know. Thanks in advance.

PS - closer to 30 years ago a friend acquired an abandoned CZ 250 enduro that he couldn't store and gave it to me. It is complete but I never started it. I think both the wheels on the enduro are similarly broken like my MX.

Google vintage cz motorcycle parts. I bought parts from east coast something when restoring a 72 cz 15 years ago. They had everything I needed back then. Sorry, I don't remember the name of shop?

Jim Deibert in Asbury NJ as my go to CZ guy. Nine Zero Eight-246-7675 cell
You can also come out to York Pa fairgrounds on 1/22/2023 for the vintage swap meet and talk to the vendors and buyers and see who is their go to person.
NW CZ Maico is in Mechanicsburg, PA can also be a source of parts and help. Allan Brown 717-458-8639

Thank you.
A basic 1975 Falta that now has a 1973 250 5 speed that replaced the 400 engine.
The tank was from a Maico Magnum that another friend channeled and installed a BBR filler bung dead center.
Wet clutch conversion. Mikuni carb and Ohlins rear shocks. It is a blast to ride.

The cornering ability of my 73 was really amazing. Yes the rear end could get busy but man oh man that bike would carve.

I was unfamiliar with Henry but from the limited into I found by googling him,
he seems pretty amazing. I'm not on FB so I didn't come across any contact info for him.

Henry is absolutely the man when it comes to CZs. And a great guy to boot.

Your bike looks excellent with a maico tank. And it looks lighter too. I think the stock tank makes it look like Russian military equipment. I bet it's fun to ride with the 250 motor too

The weight difference between my tank and a stock tank was very noticeable. My tank is also very comfortable and my inner thighs do not get beat up like they normally would with a coffin tank.
As soon as I completed this build with the 400 (380) Falta engine, I was able to acquire a 1974.5 Maico 400 and since I had a 1973 CZ 250 5 speed just sitting around…..

I was able to ride my Maico and my CZ and my buddies CZ 250 4 speed all in the same day. He had a full on reed kitted Charlie Richardson built bike. I would say it was an awesome engine in his bike, but I liked my transmission better as far as ratios. And my non reed engine pulls as good as his reed engine. And yes, the 4 speed transmission just can’t be killed. But I am easy on my transmissions.  Funny part though, as a life long fan of Maico’s, and a CZ hater from back in the day, I was on the wrong side of that  argument. My modified forks worked as good as my Maico forks, both bikes had Ohlins and my CZ felt worlds better and damn, I had brakes! The CZ turned as well or better than the Maico 😳. Sold the Maico the very next day.
I still have two other Maico’s, so it did not hurt that badly.
