Jokers made me move up in 1988 after getting top 5 at L.L. Can you believe the nerve?!?! And I STILL race A...when are they gonna let me go back to b/c?

My son started riding two years ago and we are going to do his first race in B this weekend. He will be in A class after LL next year. I just wish we could ride more than a couple of times a month.
Sorry for the show off pics. Im just very proud of him LOL.

A very wise man once told me that "god" made everyone an A rider.........AmA made them B or C.

Smile

I was A class in 1977. so I guess at 50+ I am just an OLD rider now? but would never ride anything but A lol. Since riding anything less would be an insult.

i've raced the A "Pro" class locally for about 7 years. i got my AMA Pro License in 02 and 03 but injuries kept me from ever doing anything with it.

now i just race the +25 Pro class about 2 times a year if i'm lucky.

damn you responsibility... damn you

will know more after i get my MRI.
shoulder feels pretty good, but something with a muscle or tendon or ligament seems to be the culprit. we'll see.

I pointed out of B class in the fall of 1989 winning the PA state C-ship at Hurricane hills in Clifford. I raced district 6 A class for the next three years doing good here and there(usually when Carsten and Wallace didn't show up) Got sick of having something broken all the time, so I moved to So Cal to learn how to surf in 93(it hurts less when you fall)
A few years later I made the mistake of attending a race "just to watch" and got the bug all over again, I spent the next few years sandbagging the C class then B class district 6 before moving back up. Boy, it was fun poaching all those 5 foot trophy days in c class, those kids hated me Smile After more major injuries, I am now a part time pro practicer and thinking in a couple of years going back to poaching 5 foot trophy days in the junior/beginner class.

I did for for the last 2 years before I hung up my gear in 2001.... I have been considering riding again and not sure where i should start out since I dont want to be a sand bagger. I was thinking about just starting out in the C or B Vet class to see how I compare to the field. I have over the years still messed around oin my friends CRF 450 and even though i am timid on the jumps right now.... he is still pissed my timing and corner speed is better than his and he never quit riding all these years!!!!!

MX A class always eluded me. I did however make it to the expert or A class in Roadracing, Flatttrack, Ice racing, and Harescrambles.

Hey Fisher, ever get those photos from Kenny's place off your camera?

He had some cool ruts, I'd like to compare what I thought I looked like to what reality is! LOL

The fastest rider this year was in B Class, I would stay away from that class and the C class winner was faster than most of the A guys So..........

The year I moved into the A class was my first on big bikes. I rode 2 races in the C and it was obvious I at least belonged in the B, so I rode almost the rest of the year there and moved up to the A in the fall at the very tail end of the local season. That was 1994, and I had ridden in the A ever since....until this year. I golf more and moto MUCH less. 32 years old, 3 kids, mortgage, responsibility....all these things have all but killed my drive to ride and train to the point that I'm good enough to hang with the A guys. Like I said...golf has taken over and I ride occasionally at best. I'm racing this weekend though and I'm super pumped!!

I moved to the "A" class in '00 and held an AMA pro/am license in '01/'02. Life got in the way and I quite riding mid 04. I just started riding again and my speed is just about back to where it was in 01/02. If my conditioning comes back, I am going to race a few AMA races this winter and reapply for my license and hopefully hit the majority of the nationals next year on my smoker

Going oldschool here...100 "A" '81 and LL champ in '82. Questionable if this qualifies as "A" but that is what it was called. '83 rode 125A stock and Mod at Ponca, LL and what were called pro-am events.

Turned AMA pro in '84 and rode 125 outdoors and 250 SX.
National # 68 1985 125 outdoors, 250 SX.
#64 1986 250, 500 outdoors, 250 SX.
#60 1987 250,500 outdoors, 250 SX.
#64 1988 gave it up, ran out of money, motivation, started dating my wife and it was all over. 20 + years later, 2 great kids, Little league baseball, mortgage, business, and all the joy and grief that goes along with it.

Still follow the sport religiously and said wife says I am "addicted" to Vital website and Alli sports on Saturdays.

I did...I even led A1 once. I passed MC right off the start for the lead, blitzed the whoops, huge whip over the triple......then....I woke up.

Heck no...I'm not even a "has been" pro motocross racer....I'm a "never was even close" pro motocross racer....

I made it once. Then my mom spilled juice all over my XBOX, and it crashed.

lol in all seriousness, I'm just now moving up to the C class. I'm not as fast a learner as other kids out there. Plus I never rode 80's or anything. Let's re-open this thread in a couple years Smile

I make all the A-Main's in my RC car races!Cool
I made it to become a front runner regionally in the "C" class but thats where I had enough and found other forms of fun.

My younger brother on the other hand. He climbed the ranks starting on 80's, then onto the big bikes a few years later. In 2006 he pretty much owned everything in the B class in the NW and placed top 5's at the AM nats he went to. In 2007 he made the jump to the "A" class and went and got his AMA Pro/AM points. Starting in 2008 he's qualified fro just about every supercross lites night show and National main event he's lined up for.

One of the highlights of 2009 has to be his 6th overall at Round #2 of the Canadian MX Nationals in the MX2 class, not bad for first time ever at the track and not pitting out of a semi.

Due to financial reasons he was only able to attend one AMA national this year (Washougal, Qualified 22nd in the lites class)

Hopefully he can get some help for 2010 either here in the states or North of the border!

I am always looking for help, lol, but first I have to get in shape, and then convince the powers that be to let me obtain a professional license again. I REALLY wanted to enter the smoker race at Budds Creek, but a seperated shoulder/broken collarbone 3 weeks ago, parking my new 450 and buying a smoker the week before that, and the fact that school starts the 24th, have completely put the brakes on that idea.

In all honesty, I need to get some more races under my belt to make sure I am ready, before I even consider looking for or accepting help from anyone.

They didn't have that A,B,C stuff when I raced. You were either a pro or an amatuer.
