I would think the plan is (or was?) to have 2 overseas out of the 3 TBAs, because 2 have no EMX/WMX support races. I cant remember an EU GP without support races.

If it us EU then lets hope they add a WMX round, they now only have 5 rounds

Sounds like Watson is close to a deal in mxgp. In the 2 pro 1 slow podcast said he was testing and was pretty sure he was Guna sign a deal. Also interesting to hear he had offers from Canada and Australia.

I watched this last night - was really glad to hear he has options and sounds like he will remain in MXGP (as long as he signed the deal for the bike he was testing). That pod was filmed a week ago so hopefully we'll hear soon - I think a non-factory team with lesser expectations and pressure would allow him to ride like we know he can again

Also, the call with Antti and Kimi sounded brutal - what goes on behind closed doors...

Gonna have to listen to that. His results were also kinda brutal for a second year factory riderLaughing

But good to know that he has offers. The guy obviously has the talent to be a regular top-10 rider.

From what Ben said was a real tough year. He couldn’t even get a stock bike and had to buy his own in the end. Also Tommy mentioned there was a falling out from the previous French team and Ice one. They had no data or anything and started from scratch and from what Tommy and billy said if was an uphill struggle without all previous data etc. look at them this year testing in Japan already so I can see the bike improving dramatically next year. Hope we get an announcement from Ben soon. I’m guessing red

What was that about? He was hovering around 20th place with one of best factory bikes while his teammate came from injury to podiums.

I wasn't making judgement at all - I meant brutal as in it must have been tough. He got called in for a meeting with Antti which turned out to be a surprise Teams call with Kimi who told him what's what.

Ben explained the lack of settings as he had to use KYB and RF was on Showa. The bike was also completely different to the one Febvre races - different frame/swingarm etc. Ben mentioned wanting to just go back to a stock bike to go from square one but it wasn't allowed.

I think that story was just scratching the surface of things that happened this season.

I didn't catch if Ben's test was for MXGP or enduro. I can see him switching from motocross.

As i have often said on here, never underestimate how much people are willing to fail , rather than win with something that wasnt their idea.

Ben Watson won his class at the MxoN a little over 12 months ago, and got fucked out of a ride by Roan Van De Moosdijk breaking Vialle's wrist ... that is a tough break.

But Kawasaki is a shit show, When Febvre was at Yamaha , Watson could run his pace on a 450, when he was still racing a 250.

He hasnt forgotten how to ride, but Ice One seem to be more focussed on pretty trucks, than giving the rider what he wants and needs.

Add to that Febvre spannering himself in SX and leaving the team to develop a bike that they never had before , with a guy who had always been the third rider in 250 and 450 teams, it was bound to be difficult, doubly so when people want to protect their own interests over those of the rider.

He is our best rider by a long way, and will be so for a long while.

I think Watson had some decent results in his first year at Wilvo. Not like an eye-opening rookie season, but alot better then 2022. Its quite insane how quick people write off these riders. Hopefully he finds a decent ride for next season. The mental edge is needed for those 2 seconds he needs, and if it started really bad like the beginning of the season it will only go downhill from there.

I'm not sure if people are writing Watson off. Imo most just react on the posts saying Watson is actually doing a good job and should have a factory ride.

I agree. You get the impression that Ice One think they're running an F1 team and lost sight of what an individual rider wants or needs.

I have also heard a few rumours that it’s not a nice place to work, quite a few employees have left/ want out, not aloud to talk to other mechanics/people at races etc

Sounds like the second round will be at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Lee van Dam, organiser of the MXGP's of Assen is in negotiation with the mayor of Rio. He'll organise this GP in collaboration with his daughter, who speaks Portugese fluently.

After Riley, JM and Pancar announce their mx2 plans we will have close to 25 announced full (EU) season MX2 riders.

Add in a couple off others that will announce andca bunch of quality wildcards from Hutten, fantic, vettik, talviku etc and it actually looks decent. That is before all the injuries start of course

Think Watson could have a similar career to bogers. Struggle with the factory rides, have a year rebuilding, start to impress again and will be back on factory when he’s ready

Yeah agree. Just look at Vlaanderen. Find a team that suits you and where top 5's are not expected or required. Build your confidence and flow and if you really have the talent you'll get the results after a while.

What KTM team Coenen brothers are in? They seems to ride stock looking bikes and old gear.

I have no idea. They were supposed to ride for Diga, but that team folded due to the teamowner having to step up in the family business.

Mx1onboard said that Lucas is going to be on Husky Neestan and Sasha in Gas Gas de carli.
Mx1onboard isnt a joke website. It has to be pretty strong rumour at least.
