A lot of ignorance in here about addiction. Hope your kid, brother, sister, or anyone else you care for doesn't go through it. Because if you deal with the heartache you'll remember being a judgemental ignorant person right here in this thread.

Same here. Lots of comments about his past but I was rooting for him. I don’t know the guy personally but I hope he continues to improve.

Plenty of us have problems with addiction and families where it runs rampant. You rarely see some scumbag taking advantage of those in this wonderful sport we all love and use to get away from the shittiness in life.

Most people have no idea how drugs can affect a person. My mother was the best of the best in grade school and even through high school. She’s now doing 18 years in prison for the murder of another woman because she became addicted to meth. I know it doesn’t seem right to root for the drug addicts or whatever you may want to call them unless you’ve seen what that stuff really do to somebody. That’s why I’m hoping Izzi turns it around.

You really shouldn’t attack another person here. ML wouldn’t like it!

Wow! Sorry to hear that. My oldest son has a meth problem thats about ruined his brain. He doesnt take care of his kids. He treats everyone like shit. He currently sitting in jail awaiting some court dates. I had two sons. My youngest was doing great and had life figured out. Unfortunately, he was the one i got the dreaded phone call about being killed. I always thought it would be the one on drugs but somehow they keep going.
They both raced with izzi back in the day. My grandson has trained with nario izzi.
Even though i understand the drug problem i still have a very hard time with him getting the benefit of the doubt yet again. Over the years of reading this page he has burned a lot of bridges and beating on ladies. Hard to forgive to me.
Again, sorry about your moms sitution.

I guarantee Nico grew up around a father who has a personality disorder and thus created an environment that never felt safe to be in. Probably witnessed as a kid abuse and ended up doing so unconsciously as a young adult. This is what causes addiction, Trauma. It starts way way back when were kids. I too know far more than i care to admit about addiction. I am happy he is being supported and given another chance. From victim to warrior!

Yes, addiction is an epidemic, let's take all the responsibility away from the users.

Fortunately there’s a thing called Casey’s Law. If you have a loved one that’s addicted to anything you can get them help by going to your county courthouse.

Also I’m not looking for anyone’s pity, just sayin the dope can take anyone to any level and it’s not like he killed someone. He deserves a second, third, fourth, fifth chance. Ask yourself what if it were you or you’re child in that situation and I’d be willing to bet most of you will change your stance on the issue.

Addiction is horrible and it hurts everyone around the person. But you can't just brush off violence committed. That part is still horrible and not excusable.

I agree 100% but it could’ve been prevented had I not had the same attitude as most in that it’s not always an addiction. I’m not saying that it is but there’s certainly a pattern and if left unchecked it will almost always lead to violence.

It’s possible he could have done better. His holeshot device didn’t release several times until well within the rhythm section.

I saw video just recently of that, had no idea!!! That is ballsy.... The front end just wants to nose dive off every lip so I also agree, we may have not seen the best speed and riding from Nico, he didn't have a front end for the first 1/3 of the course until the speed trap!

So you think its always a father with a personality disorder that causes kids to become addicted? My oldest son turned to a life of drugs and ive never done drugs or even alcohol for that matter. I have also never taken a single anti-depressants, anti-anxiety, anti -psychotic or personality disorder medication.
He never had any trauma that im aware of and we were close when he was a kid/teen. While the other half of his dna didnt cause any trauma either she did take anti depressants and anti anxiety but never abused them.
My point, sonetimes people just do shit for no reason. Wrong crowd, stupid decisions, poor impulse control, etc. Your message made it sound like it was soneone elses fault other than nicos own poor decision making.
And has anyone seen any successful racer that didnt have a crazy moto dad. Someone has to push them to be great. Some people consider that over the line, some dont. Im not going to blame his dad for his screw ups. This is all imho. Doesnt really mean shit.

Has he repaid his debt to the motocross community? All the hard working families he scammed and cheated out of their money?

Izzi lost his chance to be a part of the motocross community, IMO. No amount of jail time for beating women will give him that privilege again. The fact that red bull and the event promoters allow him to compete in this is questionable at best.
Why would he want to be a part of a community that shames, disrespects, and doesn’t accept people that aren’t the same as the majority? The fan base is American motocross is an absolute shame. I don’t even go to nationals anymore because of how ignorant and disrespectful this community can be. Let’s not forget about how hated the Stewarts were for not looking the same as everyone else on the line. Big James getting spit on, James getting flipped off every lap of a race. Or how about Dylan getting booed by Thousands of fans every weekend in supercross? Barcia’s boo’s last a few minutes.

It sounds like some of you are lucky enough not to have a friend or family member in a similar situation, and I hope you never have to experience it. I will never support or approve of his past actions, but I know it takes a lot for someone to overcome it and I hope Nico uses the sport he loves to continue on the right track.

We have to do better.

I hope Nico turns it around and can be the best dad he can be to his daughter, but it absolutely baffles me that people will always for some reason give guys like these all kinds of opportunities and support when there’s 100 hungry privateers living out of their van and making mains.
How moto works. If you are/were the next big thing you get all the support. You finish one spot behind that name and crickets. It’s baffling how the moto system works, but guess it will always be that way

Having dealt with DV situations and abuse victims for nearly 20 years, your comments are unbelievable. If you actually think this way, congrats, you’re part of the reason victims stay victims and feel like they have nowhere to turn but their abuser.

Agreed.

I guess the only comfort (small as it may be) is that those inbred morons are likely in jail or living in a low-end trailer park, trying to figure out life with an IQ two points above plant life, while the Stewart’s have gone on to do great things.

Nonetheless, complete scumbags in that photo.

He should be embarrassed to even try to be part of this community. Idk about you but anyone who steals from people and beats up women isn't cool. Doesn't matter if he was fast back in the day or not. Its a joke that malott even gave this dude a chance when guys like surrat didn't even get a call or an email back.
