Instead of saying crackhead just say what you really mean “black people”. Sheesh.

I remember reading a magazine article after Stanton won the SX title there in 1992. It was just after the Rodney King riots and the whole area was torn up. It said how Stanton went jogging through the area before the race where no white man should really go. I always remember the article saying "balls wise he really is the champ!"

I just feel so bad for people that still live in CA. There’s no more of a depressing thought than people actually living in LA or Sacramento etc I lived in Sac for 18 years. I’m blessed now with living in a great area and when I go back to visit, my God, I just can’t believe I did it

You're damn right it is....

Why the hell else would everyone want to keep coming here like they do.

We have our problems for sure.....all the counties I've visited around the world have been nice to visit....but there is NO place like the US.

I was just there last weekend - next door at the California Science Center.

The whole exhibition Park area was very well kept up and nice, I didn't see any homeless, but I did see a shit ton of LAPD everywhere on patrol.

Yes, some parts of Los Angeles can be shitty, but so can parts of Detroit, Cleveland, Milwaukee, St Paul, St. Louis Miami, , Etc Etc.

How people can judge an entire state based on parts of one city they have probably never visited seems kind of ignorant...

I hope it goes well for everyone, but I believe I'll sit this one out and stay in Colorado. There are now real dangerous shit holes in just about every city the LA homeless problem in the post above and warm weather is true. how about the camp of a few thousand homeless people over the fence at A1 a few years ago? It sucks and I feel for them

California is cool place. There are some crappy shitty places in Cali alike in Texas and Florida (highest rate of death by gun) who have shitty neighborhoods, cities too, where gang crime is high and theft is normal stuff.
Florida doesn't have that many homeless yet but it's coming and its coming quick.
In DFW homeless are in full daylights under the bridges and stop lights, each and every time I drive from the airport to my hotel.

There are shitty places and there are good places. Find the one you like, leave others alone making their own choices. Freedom. Liberty.

One thing I am super jealous about California though are the off-road riding areas and mob trails.

Quite the shit hole surrounding the birthplace of Supercross. I remember the environment surrounding the colisium was so sketchy that the factory teams refused to return and race there again. At least that was the narrative back then.
I remember going to both Supercross and Mickey Thompson races there as a youngster.

I remember the concern our parents had every time. We had to park and run to the stadium, we certainly were not allowed to stop the car anywhere near the surrounding area.

Someone gets it.

I'll be going to the final.

I'll ride my KLR or FE-S there and back...from O.C.

Last time the X-Games MX/Freestyle events were there, we stayed in Hermosa Beach and dual-sported in and out every-day...that was fun! Oh, by the way...the area around the coliseum was shitty back then, too!

The area around the coliseum is a shit hole, there is absolutely no debating that.

California is both, the ugliest state, and the most beautiful state. There is a lot more to the state than LA and San Francisco, even LA county has some beautiful areas. If you’re into beaches, there is much more than LA county trash beaches, Oxnard, Ventura, Santa Cruz, and Morro Bay are all world class cities.

While the typical tourist areas to me are trash.

Which of the 2 “locals” should we listen to, the one that lives a 100 miles south of LA or the one that moved over a year ago and never actually lived there?? Just curious

I work in real estate, and with they skyrocketing prices in the last couple years, all of the the low income people simply can’t afford to be in SoCal anymore. Unless they’re living in a tent on the sidewalk, they all left. So it’s not like it was back in the day.

It’s way to expensive these days to have gang banger shit going on, just homeless issues. It’s way better than Oakland. And yeah California is a shit hole. It’s kinda a big state ya know

Depends on how far out you go. Downtown Detroit is pretty cool but if you venture out too far you will find yourself in some sketchy places. Same with Minneapolis, Atlanta, Oakland, etc. The fear mongering over LA is weird.
