MXoN 2022 Top 5 predictions

Edited Date/Time 9/26/2022 7:50am
What are your picks? With both Tomac and Sexton being sooooo good this year I think team USA will be hard to beat, Australia looks strong and I think the fight for the last step on the podium will be interesting, I could see The Netherlands, France and Spain being close:

1. USA (Tomac, Cooper & Sexton)
2. Australia (Evans, H. Lawrence & J. Lawrence)
3. Netherlands (Coldenhoff, de Wolf, Vlaanderen)
4. France (Renault, Musquin, Ferrandis?)
5. Spain (Prado, Farres, Fernandez)

Same top 5, just a different order. But it also depends on Ferrandis...

1. USA (Tomac, Cooper & Sexton)
2. France (Renault, Musquin, Ferrandis?)
3. Australia (Evans, H. Lawrence & J. Lawrence)
4. Netherlands (Coldenhoff, de Wolf, Vlaanderen)

Everything I can find still has him listed... Have they announced a replacement? That could change things... A lot.

If it's Febvre, I stay with it... If they move Musquin to a 450 and Vialle comes on, I might drop them 1. If it's someone else, down to P5 they go.

Vialle is out on his own choice though... He's in race shape and the bike is not a problem. Could he change his mind?

As always with racing, anything can happen. But USA just has to get this done this time. The competition they're facing is either weaker than usual or inexperienced. Anything less than the W or a very, very tiny loss as the second or third team is a failure. Tomac and Sexton should both finish top-3 in their motos and that should be enough if Cooper does anything remotely decent like 10th - 13th in one moto.

1) USA
2) Netherlands
3) Australia
4) Belgium
5) Spain

If America doesn’t win…it’s gonna be a huge upset…I hope Cooper rides better than he has all season…and I hope Sexton doesn’t have a repeat of moto 2 at Pala…

I have been wondering if French fans are as upset about Vialle not doing the MXdN as American fans have been when their riders have opted out.

While I think USA on home soil is a given, a bad day, bad start or a mechanical is all needed to change the standings. There are quite a few foreign riders better than Cooper. Australia looks very strong. Netherlands and Spain can do well too, remember they can drop their worst finish

Hard to say. Not that big of a deal. Pick the riders that want to go. No need to get mad at another persons decision.

I have the same attitude. If they don't want to do it, well, you'd not want them there.

I myself, having had the honour to represent my Country, find it strange that someone would not want to, but, it's their decision.

We've all seen the histrionics here with regards to US teams, so, I genuinely wonder if the French are carrying on about Vialle's not participating.

No love for the defending Champs? Italy has a strong team and definitely in the hunt for a podium.

Since almost everyone picks the USA as the favorite, does that change if we have a mud race? Obviously it levels the playing field but could we still expect USA to win?

1. USA
2. Australia (Depending on if Evans is in, if hes out, move them in the next group
3. France, Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium (all of these teams IMO will be right around the same points)

I think any step on podium depends on Evans, if he gets a good result they will be in with a shout for the win.

The top 2 for me is between USA & AUS. The rest are just making up the numbers - pity DF is out tho.

1. AUS
2. USA (just because I dont want to put them first like everyone lol)
3. NED
4. Spain
5. between, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Italy, GB Pinch

Assumptions are that Evans is in, Ferrandis is out (replaced by Rubini or who?) and that Farres is on a Star bike

The most interesting race is probably going to be for the last podium spot and last top 5 spots.
There are a lot of teams that could get in the top 5. Even Germany and Norway have solid teams

Individuals:
MXGP: Tomac
Open: Sexton
MX2: Längenfelder

That would make for great racing, having six countries fight for the final odium spot. I think France (with a healthy Ferrandis, or with Vialle maybe…), Netherlands and Spain are just a little bit stronger than Italy Switzerland and Belgium….. but I could easily see Fernandez, Prado or Vlaanderen for example having mediocre days. And Seewer, Guillod, Guadagnini or good ol’ Antonio Cairoli could be having great days. Nice!

Holland would of had a great chance if they had Bogers instead of Valanderen .that was a terrible decision imo

This event is too difficult for me to predict this year but what I WANT to see is

1) USA
2) Australia
3) Italy

We (USA) need a win and it looks like our best chance in years. My wife’s family is Australian so they are my second home country, and Italy just because I’d love it for AC.
