Here’s a thought. Let’s have our political post be about current politicians. You know, the ones that actually are making an impact on everyone’s lives. No Trump, Obama, Bush, Clinton etc.
After 2024 no more “FJB’s”. It’s just a thought.

I will try to not get sucked into these topics, it’s hard to see the constant attacks and stay on the sidelines but I will do it for my health and to keep from adding to the madness. Politics are important, endless attacks are divisive and a waste of time. Nobody is changing their stance based on what cut/paste they read on here
I agree with completely forgetting about joe when his reign is finished.
He'll be gone.

Recently though, we have seen something that we've never seen before.
The past two presidents are still lurking just out of sight, pulling the strings within their respective parties.

It's hard to ignore that.
It's the direct result of a leadership vacuum that exists in both parties.
Neither would have ever risen up to the level of the presidency if voters hadn't become tired of seeing both Republicans and Democrats parade out the same tired candidates every four years.

Not sure that kind of crap is going to change anytime soon.
Scary how government agencies are openly being used against political opponents, and the citizens.
And it's been going on for quite a while now.

Everyone's all up in arms over recent actions by the FBI.
Completely forgetting that good ol' J Edgar Hoover himself set the precedent.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Well, welcome to college football.
I’m generally very conservative and I agree with Boom. There’s a ton of places to talk about useless bullshit-oops, I mean politics-on the internet. Don’t need it here.

There used to be a time when political views were but one small part of a person’s identity, and many people’s social circles ran the gamut, because if they liked someone, they didn’t care who they voted for. Now, politics have become many people’s sole criteria for who they date/marry, hang out with, or even talk to. It’s quite frankly pathetic.

I WILL say that I greatly appreciate the site under ML as the previous overlord would seemingly only clip threads/members on one side instead of both. It should be both or neither.

All that said, I’m embarrassed to call myself conservative given the crap that you’ve been spewing out.

After discussing with ML, I will not be having my account deleted. I will be taking an extended break from Vital though.

I believe politics within this forum have been nothing but, a recipe for disaster. The quickest way to separate and, alienate one another is talking politics. Your point of view does not have to be mine and, my point of view does not have to be yours. I’ve noticed a lot of long standing members are not posting. I’ve also noticed politics have brought out the worst in people. I may have swung by those threads to drop off a meme but, they were usually neutral or, funny. At least from my perspective.

Since politics have been allowed, has there been one political thread that hasn’t turned into a political shit eating contests? Has there been one thread where members weren’t labeling one another as Libtards, Trumptards amongst other things? No. There hasn’t been. Unfortunately, most of the threads started as of late have been nothing more then a soapbox for one to express his viewpoint while, discriminating against others.

That’s not what Vital is about and, I refuse to be a part of it. If need be, this forum.

I’ve made many friends here that I’m grateful for over the time I’ve been a member. Never once were politics brought up between us. They weren’t the reason we joined this forum so, why do we need them now?

Anyways, I’ll check back in after a few months. I hope you guys had a killer weekend.

I personally do not care what topics are in non moto.

I will admit, I do find it interesting that what I assume is a forum filled with mostly adults and yet still some of them can't help themselves from opening a topic that they know will clearly make them unhappy and possibly angry but yet they still click it.

The world is a strange and confusing place in 2022.

I think it’s good to be able to have political discussions. I do believe it sometimes gets to be beating a dead horse in some threads.

After awhile I think some of the political threads get either too personal with attacks and insults or frankly they get very boring so I just step out.

Maybe just a two week expiration date on some of the political threads I wouldn’t be opposed to.

Example: to keep discussing a raid that happened four weeks ago seems very boring. To me anyways.

Some documents may or may not have been found.

Meanwhile school children are murdered while cops stood by and did nothing and that thread dropped off once people stopped caring. If that’s accurate.

I like the political discourse, just wish some (both sides) would just move on to new topics.

I’ll keep bumping the food, knives, and cat threads.

Ya’all do your thing.

How about those that dont like political threads, just exercise some self control, and not click on political threads?

And those that do like political threads, why not exercise some self control and keep personal attacks out trolling out of them?

Why is that so hard?

After awhile you have to scroll pretty far. I’m in total agreement with you. Just click on what you want. Don’t click on what you are not interested in.

I think after awhile though you get like 10-15 threads going that all devolve into really the same crap, same people, beating the same dead horse. And they are all at the top of the page.

I’m good with house cleaning once a month or whatever make sense.

I’ll say it’s been entertaining as there have been alot of things that have happened that were nowhere on my radar this year.

I do like seeing when someone who has a perspective different from mine provides an explanation of why they do, or if a series of events occurred differently from how I learned.

I agree with Titan, let’s try to civil about it and move on, but in today’s environment that seems hard to do. Social media or mainstream media induced? A frustration as to real or perceived problems that don’t seem to get fixed?

In addition, I like being exposed to a discussion about these things by people by virtue of their interest in riding I believe I share some common ground.

Yes, it’s nice to see different view points of people with different upbringings and from different regions.

My biggest concern is censorship which is basically regulation of free speech and ultimately I think is more destructive than arguments that turn futile.
This board is a different situation and free speech rights don't legally apply and it's also a community that revolves around a shared interest and not designed for hotly debated political issues and the nastiness that can go with it. So guardrails including suspension are understandable.
A few years ago I think the oversite and account suspensions got over the top.

From my view I think ML does about as solid a job intervening as you could expect. He usually drops in with a friendly reminder which is a pretty good signal the thread may have run its course.
Also I think for the most part the guys in non moto are older and do a pretty good job at self regulating even though some of the threads might get a bit ugly. Moto section can get just as ugly and stupid sometimes also. Political issues have a direct and profound impact on my life so sometimes I like to be able to get it off my chest here and also appreciate some of the other viewpoints and info. Justin Barcias latest take out has no impact on my life.

I don't believe I ever get personally offended or upset by anything anybody posts.

Like Titan said, I can stay away from threads I don't like.

Maybe add a “Politics” section just to group all those threads in one place. At least you’d know what
you’re in for.

I'm pretty sure Sloan is operating under another pseudonym. There are a couple of new members which has a similar style of comment.

If you think there is anything fun about politics there is a really big problem. Ask any of the millions killed under Communist regimes in the 20th century how fun politics is.

Fair enough.
I have been around these forums for 20 years. Got kicked off for daring to disagree with the liberal heiarchy.
Nothing new going on except the debate is allowed to happen. Conservatives aren't being silenced immediately and it's blowing the minds of some.

In the US, we have as many Conservatives as we do liberals, I think considerably more.
Blacks and Latinos are moving over to the right in record numbers.
Trump was elected to stop the corruption. Get us back on the road.
They are treating us like we elected a white supremacist.
They silence us on social media, they restrict our access to financial platforms.
It's important to some of us, perhaps you could be so kind as to scroll past the threads that bother you?
i got clipped twice for daring to disagree with the old leader here. if you didn't toe the line, you got the boot as soon as you spit some truth at him that made his feelings cry. glad to see there were others. Or not, I guess.

I would like to engage in policy discussions but it would quickly be derailed by the tribal drones and devolve into a least common denominator chop fight. Which is exactly how our modern politicians treat each other and formulate their campaign speeches.
It's too bad. I would like to know what other Vitards think about actual policy topics. Don't bother trying.

I had the best life ever without thinking of politics one time until Obama. I didn't even have a single clue what a republican or Democrat was until my 30s. I was too busy getting my life right. Wish I never did know. Seems like a circus sideshow. It had absolutely zero affect on my life that I knew of until now.

I'm what might be called a libtard on the political spectrum. My two best friends are both right wing conservative types. We can be friends, discuss politics, and even disagree on things. I enjoy having a debate and learning new points of view. I have even (grudgingly) changed my mind on occasion.

I've bowed out of the politics, COVID, etc discussions because there is no debate or discussion, it's just instant name calling and schoolyard bullying. Some people seem to think being louder and 'tougher' than the next guy makes them more correct.

In my opinion politics in non-moto is kind of like communism or religion. In theory it's a fine idea, but people are going to fuck it up.

This is a good topic. I dont post much anymore and there are many reasons as to that, most completely unrelated to the site or even the sport. However, it was no secret, to some that even bothered to pay attention to my drivel, that I was worn out with the excruciating amount of filtering needed to get to an actual legitimate post. Mainly related to the overwhelming amount of sock accounts, artificial forum posts, bots, etc., (which is a complicated social media, forum phenom that certainly is not limited to Vital) simply to increase a posters activity for tons of cross related reasons. It just became too exhausting to try to interact with a legit convo. But I digress. Personally, I agreed with the “no politics” policy and had no problem abiding by it. Still don't. I hate politics. It could derail any topic, quickly, and still does. I used to come to non moto because it had fewer socks, bots (because of the less activity) and was just easier to deal with and had more legit convo with those of us that have moto in common. Now, I hardly even consider “popping in” as non moto is almost exclusively politics and the swill that comes with it. The vast majority of the topics are politics. I dont know, maybe have one area dedicated to politics and leave them out of all of the other areas? Me not coming around often anymore is no loss to Vital but it sure would be nice to have a non moto place about anything, non moto, just without the politics.

I've always scratched my head at the artificial posters comments. We do have bot accounts try to come on the forum to post links, but we clip those accounts delete their posts as soon as we find them.

Page views have never been lacking for us. In fact, we have excess inventory (more ad placements then we can sell) due to the high amount of traffic we see. So trying to artificially inflate that number through bots or paid posters would literally be a loss for us.

My primary focus is new features that can be sponsored, expanding our YouTube content (making some solid revenue gains there) and by increasing our video posting rate, we can increase revenue on-site through more pre-roll sales. This is one item we were tight on for inventory when I came back, but I already fixed that. We also have a few other ideas in the works that are complimentary to our site but have little to no involvement on the forum.
