Top 5 .250 class is weak as hell . Don't care what anyone says . Apart from Jett, hunter, cooper shimoda and sometimes. Kitchen, and RJ .i really think Deegan should be better than the rest right away . I also think he has a great chance at the championship next year .Jett will be gone .
Horrible take. Top 4 of Jett, Hunter, J Cooper and Jo are damn fast add in RJ Hampshire who could grenade any moto or be the fastest 250 rider in the world in any moto and you have a damn stout 250 top 5. The next 5 of Max, Levi, Seth, Mossiman and Robertson are pretty damn good. There's a good chance he gets a top ten but none of those dudes are pushovers. It would be a great accomplishment and better start to a pro career.

You have to be delusional to think that Deegan would beat Hunter or Cooper in a championship next year.

I don't think Levi is back from his wrist injury yet, so replace him with Thrasher/Romano/LeBlanc (any of those 3 can go fast at any random time), and I'd say this is a fair assessment. Top 10 would be an awesome start. I think Ryder D is faster, but in his 4 motos, he only broke the top 10 once.

So people think he will be faster then Ryder D and Hymas from the get go. Don't forget J Mart might be back for this one as well.

My guess is 238. Back to the old amateur number. No one was entered into washougal with that number so I’m guessing it’s available
Makes sense. Thanks.

I think it might go a lot like Barcia's debut at Glen Helen in '09. Holeshot, get out to a nice lead then the train of Jett, Hunter, Shimoda, Cooper catch him and pass him.

Exactly , I ll put it this way, first year RV, RD ,TC 41 ,ET3,JMart, Kroc , etc etc all win that championship in their first year against that level of competition. Imo he has a great chance to win first year . Jett had to race DF 14 and j mart first year which is way harder than hunter and j cooper .

Other than RV none of the guys one your list won this title his first year. Took Tomac 4 years. Kenny never won a 250 outdoor title. Winning the title in the first year doesn't happen very often. Before RV we'd have to go all the way back to Stewart if I'm not mistaken. Then probably Pastrana and RC.

If he wants to have a shot at beating Hunter and Shimoda next year he better be running circles around his teammates at the test track right now

Exactly my point . Elli , Kenny etc etc had way stiffer competition to win a championship than Deegan will over Hunter, Shimoda etc . I don't know if Deegan will win ,but he has the best chance in years for a first year pro. I honestly think you put any of the names like Eli , dungey , canard ,j mart . They would win the championship against Hunter , shimoda in there first year pro .
Ahh yeah makes sense now. Still I'd be very surprised but would be cool to see

I am not saying he is the favourite or just stamp it . I am saying when Jett turned pro . He had DF14 and J Mart as main competitors in the class . When RV turned pro he had Townley . Dungey had RV and Pourcel. Canard had dungey and pourcel . Elli had Bagget . Roczen had Elli , MM25 . Etc etc . All the next big thing guys had mad competition their first year , that's way it doesn't happen very often . I honestly think all the guys above would have won the championship the first year pro if they were racing hunter and cooper . Maybe Deegan just won't be that good . But it's a great year to turn pro

Off topic a little here : Isn't it weird how time flies? Doesn't it seem like just last year he was on 65's at LL's? I blinked my eyes and now Haiden is going pro? Seriously , what the hell?

Why do you dorks have to put expectations on a kid and then argue amongst yourselves over where he'll finish?? Just let the kid get a couple of rounds under a belt and go from there, sheesh.

Maybe cause there s a shipload of nut hugger fan boys, that say he will beat jett straight up.

Danger boy and his dad created this pressure / hype ,
Think a reality check will br good for all involved.

Isn’t that what a message board is for? To discuss…

No one is trashing him. He’s a great rider. What is wrong with people posting predictions of how he will do?

Show me the nut huggers saying he will beat Jett. His hype is just a blip on the radar compared to the Jett hype train

I watched Deegan trackside at Loretta's this year and his speed is not in question. IMO, the biggest obstacle he's going to have are two 30 minute plus 2 motos with only an hour recovery time in between. That's a far cry from one 20 minute moto with a full day to recover like at Loretta's.

I agree that’s probably the biggest question, but you also have to take Swanny’s reputation into account. There’s no debating the guy knows what he’s doing.

Time will tell if Deegan has the mental edge and confidence and patience to not try so hard that he throws it away.

Top 20 in both motos at Ironman would be a success. He'd earn points and get a 2-digit number for 2023. Let's let him build from there.

I haven't seen anyone legitimately say he would beat Jett straight up. I did however see Chad Reed say he was legit fast and would make some noise. Considering I know relatively jack squat when compared to Chad Reed, I will take his word for it.

Lots of Hype to believe these days.... I saw a headline somewhere the other day "Will Haiden beat Jett" I can't remember if it was RacerX or some other publication, I purposely didn't read it because that's just stupid clickbait. Haiden is a badass and has the biggest social media following ever but he's a rookie going against one of the strongest outdoor lites classes in years and to put a rookie as even a possibility to beat Jett one of the most gifted riders to ever throw a leg in any circumstance is just dumb. To this hype I say Settle the Fuck down everyone.. Sheesus !!!
I also have a theory on the whole bike claiming shenanigan at Lorettas. It couldn't have just been a staged hot topic to get more views and subscribers on the old channel could it have been? Because lets face it, it's not about moto anymore it's about social media presence and MERCH Bro!!!!

I think he has a chance at top 10. That will be tough though.

To be fair he did set the fastest lap at lorettas on the last lap of his final moto so seems like he has the fitness. Plus with him training with Star team all week im sure they are running two 30s back to back during the week at some point.

Top ten at Ironman would be a success I feel most would say.

I think he will run in the top 10. Has a good chance to finish in top ten. But I could see him fading a bit later in the race. The first 15 minutes will be intense. He’s probably got top 5 speed.

If he finishes top 10 that’s gotta be a success. Anything in the top 5 would be incredible!
