Aside from the gameplay, I’m baffled at how horrible it looks.
This is supposed to be next gen gaming?
Graphics wise it looks pretty awesome IMO. That's with all settings maxed on unlimited FPS. The limiter stops at 60fps for some reason. But my PC runs it without issue and looks great. All Out looked great on PC aswell though. On my Xbox it looked pretty average in comparison though. So probably same case with this one.
The handling is absolutely terrible when you start out. Not wonder everyone has the same first impressions. Once you start upgrading the bikes it improves a lot and looks a lot more like it did in the gameplay videos online. But it doesn't make sense for the bikes to be borderline unusable to begin with. It makes the first impressions horrible and really a pain in the ass to level up. They're slow, need to tap the clutch constantly just to get up hills, preload and seat bounce the fuck out of it just to clear small jumps sometimes, the bike feels like it's riding on ice too until you upgrade the tyres.
Tracks... well only raced on a few. Took me quiet a bit to beat the second race on the standard bike. Dropped from GOAT level to medium and still had trouble. The 125 struggled up hills and to make turns which there was plenty of both on the track. But I kept racing the first few events (first and third to be more accurate) to upgrade my bike to be decent before going on to the next series. So far they look pretty nice. But it seems like I have to gradually unlock everything which sucks with how shit bikes start out.,
I had it crash back to desktop after finally beating the second track. Thankfully it saved the progress. But it's definitely a bit buggy, despite that being my only crash it's not a good sign when it was after about 30 minutes of gameplay. The upgrades were also confusing. I put all my money into going for the level 3 parts on the right. Before than realising that like All Out you can tune both ways and gain different areas. Atm I have a 125 with everything maxed to the right. Though it might not necessarily be the best setup.
This is a thousand times better than All Out was at launch. Though I played that on my Xbox One X. PC probably didn't have that issue at launch. It was damn near impossible to race as it was a slow motion slideshow of images. So I am actually pleasantly surprised with Legends now. Seeing all the poor reviews soured me on it. As did the grind of the first hour or so before my bike started becoming decent. But there's a pretty good game underneath everything. Just have to sit through a lot of shit to get to it at the moment. Along with bug fixes I hope they remove the handicap or whatever that makes stock bikes useless. Though I wont ever go back to stock once upgraded, it would definitely sell the game a lot more for people experiencing it for a first time.
I look to enjoy these games more than most probably do though. I'll grind through hours of torture to get to the good shit i'll put hundreds of hours into over the next 4 years or so.
As with All Out, the tuning makes a HUGE difference in your experience. You have to invest some TIME into figuring out what works for you.

No braap custom riders, I was hoping they'd expand that not remove it. Very limited customization of your own rider. Hardly any parts or gear to choose from. Doesn't seem to be any bike tuning to adjust bike handling to your liking. Was hoping for customizable controls but we have way less options than before.
Should of kept what was good about All Out and worked on the areas that needed improved. The bugs and glitches I was kind of expecting from past experiences. I'm sure it will get better over time and I hope they add some of the missing features through patches.
One step forward (whoopee, you’ve got to upgrade your bike to make the game less shit), 4 steps backwards.
I think the second track in career mode has a bug on the difficulty modifier. It made sense to me later when I qualified for the Amateur National. At the national event, the difficulty is higher which makes sense, but it looks like they just applied it to that location across the board.
Bad- Career mode is that creepy kid-oriented dialogue with some weird burn out dude who used to be on Pro Circuit? Its flat out weird
Ugly- No customization. HUGE step backwards. How do we have less gear, graphics and parts then MX vs ATV Unleashed 2? Less for your money is the theme of the year
Put about four hours into it and its entertaining at least
Anybody know what's going on with this?
Pit Row
Problem I can't start over. There is no way point objectives for me to progress the story. When i go to the menu, my events are locked (meaning I can't do the tutorial again to unlock the first event). So now i'm this weird limbo where i can not play/earn any new tracks.
If anyone is on the fence about this game, it really shines in First Person view. If you can get over the bugs, its a blast.
This game is still in BETA.
Pretty amazed that people can’t figure out that the game improves massively once you upgrade the bike. It’s been this way since Alive.
As far as launch day bugs etc., disappointing but not surprising either. It’s a small team and they have to balance pushing the game out and earning revenue vs. how much time it would take to fully nail down every single thing. With hot patches, updates etc. the game will change dramatically in the next couples months.
There are tons of AAA games that get the same exact treatment and people lose their shit over those as well lol
I’m playing in first person which is the way I play the milestone games too. I really like how much you can customize the camera. The 125 races are painful. I’ve got it all upgraded now but my opponent’s bikes are still faster. The high point track is a lot of fun and I look forward to being and to race the Pro motocross tracks on race weekends now.
I appreciate rainbow trying to do something different with the career mode and I think they’re at a disadvantage since they don’t have licensing with all of the teams like milestone does but I still would’ve preferred a more streamlined career. I don’t want to race ATV’s, UTV’s and different types of events. I just want to race a pro motocross championship.
Like its clearing the jumps easier and going up hills. As i unlocked each upgrade it made a huge difference still. But i was wondering if career difficulty also effected how the bikes handled?
Kids account is set to very easy with dual sticks, pro physics and it wasnt as bad as I remembered it feeling when i started out on my account with GOAT difficulty, dual sticks and pro physics.
Probably just a matter of me adapting to the physics, knowing the tracks and in my mind expecting the bike to be insufferable though and it not being quiet as bad.
Also havent had a second crash. I think maybe the game crashed the first time because i changed difficulty in the middle of a race. It made no difference to the AI when i did it. But when finished it probably was something they didnt count on people doing so it crashed back to desktop.
~4 hours on my account. About 1 hour starting the kids account up. The one crash i had was when i changed difficulty because i couldn't get around the track or clear obstacles etc. And the AI was killing me.
I am not a fan of the storyline career mode. I get they are trying to appeal to a broad audience but I'd rather just race the pro MX series or a SX championship.
I don't have a lot of playing time yet but I think the ai needs to be more competitive.
I think the thing that I dislike the most is the lack of braap rider option. I liked on All Out that you could create pro riders put them on the oem they ride and have a fairly realistic series. Now it seems the ai will be on Nordic/Rainbow bikes. That just doesn't give an authentic series feel.
At first, I was pumped! I fully upgraded it with my mountains of moto coins, started my first race, and BAM! Stuck with the transmission flipping out between 4th and 5th gear. Tried switching the transmission to manual, same thing. Back to automatic, same thing. My 250 2 stroke is just plain broken and won't go above 30 mph. I tried switching to my 4 stroke or even my 125 so I could race, but the series forces you to ride a 250 2 stroke.
Right as I thought the fun was going to start, I get kicked in the balls. Mind you, this is after 4 hours of grinding through those awful off road races that they call 'Trails' or 'Invitationals'. That includes the triple crown events that always bug out for me in the middle and make me restart. So frustrating!
Honestly, there's a great game in here! I promise you that I have not had this much fun with an MX vs ATV game since Alive. And, the game gave me the same sensation I had the first time I played reflex, or even MX Unleashed: *it makes me want to play and figure it all out! The mark of a great and memorable game. It just absolutely is the suck that they make you go through the horrendous, unfinished, barely tested career mode to unlock the full game.
The pro national tracks are aging and I have been waiting for this for almost 2 DECADES, the chance to play a video game using the same 3D track maps they use on TV. I have faith that the game will turn out amazing after the kinks are ironed out.
