Sexton has a contract through '23 and Roczen's is over after outdoors...not sure.

Will be interesting to see how it plays out. I would be a little disappointed to see Hunter held down in 250’s long term if honda does not want to field Sexton Jett and Hunter in the 450 class. Unless sexton jumps ship for some reason I don’t see Honda letting any of the 3 go either.

Keeping Hunter on the 250 when Jett moves up next summer makes sense. He'll be a heavy a favorite to win titles next year. Win some titles in 2023, defend in 2024, sign another extension to race 450 in 2025.

I don't think it's him being held down. He hasn't won titles like Jett yet and both his camp and Honda wouldn't want to give up those title opportunities. We'll see how the year plays out but if Hunter doesn't win the outdoor title this year (Jett is the favorite), then you'd think they'd at least want a title in '23 and some sort of defense in '24 before going 450 in '25.

They had different deals when they initially inked with Honda directly. Jett’s deal is through 2025 already.

I understand why Honda would want to keep Hunter on the 250, but I also see it as holding him back.

He looks to me as having great potential on a 450 and at the end of the day, 250 results mean very little compared to premier class results.
I’d hate to see two years of Hunter’s prime ‘wasted’ in the 250s.

Age is irrelevant- he's achieved everything there is to achieve in 250s. Theres no point in hanging around.

Simple for Honda, Roczen out he has no more upside. Hunter 250 champ indoors and out. Chase or Jett 450 champ indoor and out.

He has to go 450 in ‘24 due to winning a Regional SX title this year, if he already has two 250 MX titles by end of this year, going 450 next MX season would be a softer transition then straight into in Supercross six months later.

People forget how much time Hunter has spent off the bike and how many seasons he has missed out on.
23 years of age, he is still younger than Mosimann. and Justin Cooper is 2 years older who is also looking for a way and exemptions to stay another year in the 250 class. than you have other riders in the past who have stayed down until late 20's chasing a lites class title.


Jetts been injury free and won the titles at a young age. cant compare the two,

Honda’s gonna be reliving its early-mid 80’s glory days if they have KRoc, Sexton and Jett in the same premier class. That’s a dream team of riders.

Going to be interesting a few years from now. Sexton is just coming into his prime and has several years left in him, Jett & Hunter will be moving up soon. I would really like to see HRC run 3 bikes instead of letting 1 of them go.

Also going to be interesting to see what Kawi does. Joey is riding great and would hate to see him get bumped when AC comes back. I know these teams aren't exactly "making money" by going racing but to have 3 riders for Kawi or HRC that can be top 10 you'd think they can make a budget for it. Guess it's just wishful thinking on my part.

They got rid of RC while he was still winning championships. I would be shocked if they keep the 94 on the team any longer than his current contract unless they sign him to ride until Jett is full time 450 next summer.

He doesn't seem like the type of guy who'd spend 2 more years in 250 if he had a factory 450 offer with another team.

They must have looked at what contracts would be up, and didn't think he was in the running.

Hi Team

Here's how I think it will play out and there is a fair chance i will be 100% wrong...

Both Hunter and Jett stay in 250's for 2023 SX, one for Jett to defend his title with the no1 plate and second for Hunter to win a title.

Roczen and Sexton obviously stay in 450 sx but with Roczen sx only and Jett onto 450 for outdoors along side Sexton. That will open a spot for Hymas for 250 Outdoors as Honda dont need Jett winning 3 outdoor titles on a 250, thats if he defends this year which is looking pretty good at the moment.

Hunter will then stay on a 250 with Hymas for 2024 which will be the last year of the new deal and Jett and Sexton for both SX and outdoors for 2024.

By then it will be 2025 and Hunter will be looking for a factory 450 ride of some sort and can either move elsewhere or maybe even Sexton moves but we'll see.

No he is correct. Jett can race 250s next season.
A 250 sx champion can only compete in 4 season ( a season is when a rider scores 5 points or more)
22 was Jetts 3rd season. He can race 250 sx in 23 but if he score 5 points he is not allowed to race 24 250sx.

And every rider on the team has incredible technique, its wild. I could watch them ride all day. It's tough to pick a favorite. I thought my preference steered towards Jett the most. But the more I see Chase ride the more he blows my mind, flawless on the bike

I don't think anyone has referred to him riding it in 24, only 23, and my post stated I guess he will be sx in 23 on the 250 to defend his title with the no 1 plate and then 450 for outdoors and then 450 for both into 24.
