Didn't Pastrana try to do this back in the day on a DRZ 400 and get shut down? Wanted to ride from his house to Budds or Southwick on the same tires he rode there with, turn signals and all?

Yeah I remember hearing something about that. I thought they didn’t let him because of some homologation rule.

Did you catch when Cole Seely rode his 450L from his house to the Honda SX track and rode some laps? That was pretty impressive.

Rory and Joey Lancaster are riding there 501's to Hangtown and filming the adventure. Rory will make a run a qualifying (he's 40 this year on his Kawasaki 450, From Hangtown they are DS to Lakewood where Rory is also entered.

He's entered in 3 more Nationals.

Nice! In 2017 I rode my klr 650 from utah to hangtown to watch the national and made a 7 day trip out of it. I checked out the golden gate bridge and rode up the pacific highway. In 2018 I rode back to where I left off on my ride up the coast, explored the pnw camping every night making my way to washougal to watch that race on a 13 day solo riding camping trip. I've raced a lot, but those two adventures are near the top of the most memorable experiences of my life. There's nothing else like the feeling of being thousands of miles away from home with minimal belongings and only you and your bike. In 2019 i suffered a TBI from a moto crash & still not able to ride :'( hopefully more adventures to come some day.

Chad Johnson, former arenacross champ, will occasionally race D16 MX vet class on dual sport bike and bring home the envelope with the most cash in it

Awesome! My son and I (and a couple friends) are riding the curviest (mostly-paved) route possible to Hangtown. We are in Fort Bragg right now heading east shortly. We'll look for Rory in the pits.

Does anyone know if there is motorcycle parking at Hangtown, and gear check?

Not a pro national - but the late Kurt Caselli use to show up to LACR on a dual sport with nothing but a camel back and his entry fee inside said camel back.

Would show up just before the pro class went off, would win, would go back to sign-up to collect his money, and then ride home.

Dude was/is/always will be an absolute hero.

If he has the time or desire, and I doubt he does - but I'd love to show him around Colorado on my 690. There's a great moto track that a dual sport can handle in Colorado Springs, or maybe some high elevation stuff since the snow is finally melting. Can't wait to see him ride at Lakewood!
