Just moved to SE Texas, where to race? MX, night racing, off road?

Just moved to Corpus Christi, and just trying to compile all of the race series around me. Word of mouth says there isn't much racing during the summer because of how hot it gets.

So far I've got the Texas state series for District 20 which is somewhat local. Freestone night series is a little bit of a drive but still there. Found one hare scramble series that is super strict mandating bike numbers based on classes and only 100 number range... weird. Just curious what else is out there, mostly focused on MX, any info is greatly appreciated so I can get to racing now that I'm settled out here!

I've raced a bunch in Corpus on Saturday nights on the night track back in the day. That went away decades ago. D20 is the biggest series close to you. EMX is a decent local series. Good news for you Cycle Ranch in Floresville just south east of San Antonio just opened back up. One of the best tracks in the state. Not sure if they can get into D20 this year, but a great place to practice and I'm sure they will start having races again there soon. 3 Palms in Conroe north of Houston is a great place to ride and race. Then there is Rio Bravo on the east side of Houston. There are two tracks a little closer to you. Iron Dog in New Ulm and the newest of them all Ten West MX in Sealy. Murphy's is an easy fun track east of Austin and close to there in Austin MX in Del Valle. A little north of them is Spoakes and then a little more north in Lone Star MX in Belton.

Have fun!

EMX is definitely one I was missing in my search. between that and D20 I think I'll be able to keep myself busy. Thanks for the help!

Corpus is hot and humid in the summer but a great place to live. I made two different hitches in Corpus with my job. If my wife would let me I’d move back in a heart beat. It has 5 months of brutal hot weather and 7 months of pretty good weather, not much of a winter very seldom gets below freezing.

You will more than likely have to head up to San Antonio or Austin to race but SA is not that far off.

Get a bass boat and fish Choke Canyon, Lake Corpus Christi and Falcon, some of the best bass fishing to be had. Also get a deer hunting lease in the brush country out west of Corpus, those big South Texas deer got wood on their head.

We used ride in the mid 80’s on a half ass track along Interstate 37, but there is a subdivision now. Had a jump along the freeway we called the freeway jump. I caught some scary air on my YZ on that jump.

Corpus is right in the middle of the Texas music scene if you like music and drink beer. Lots of things to do in South Texas. Lots of real Cowboys too. Lot of real good jobs with all the Refinning and Petro Chem plants.

I bet there are some tracks down South in Rio Grand valley or Laredo, I’ve been gone from the area to long.

I moved from there in 2016 but have some good friends down there still. There’s a small track in corpus that’s called Double D. Good group of guys out there and it gets the job done when you don’t want to drive to San Antonio or Houston.

Not meaning to be a jerk, but isnt that southwest Texas, not southeast? I am asking because I am moving to Kerrville in a few months(if everything works out) and it is southwest Texas. FYI, I hope you find riding/racing areas

You will be 200 miles from Corpus. Kerrville is South Central area.

DDMX is the closest to corpus. Look them up on Facebook. South of that is MARS MX in Edinburgh tx. North is cycle Ranch. You are not too far from white knuckle ranch or creekside MX.

Both of those tracks would be kinda a waste of time to drive that far. They are kinda like back yard tracks. I’m talking about WKR and Creekside. Cycle ranch however would be worth it.

There is also AMPmx formally ADVmx outside Austin. They are open Wednesday nights Thursday nights (for beginner/novice) and weekends. Fun track.
