Honestly.... what makes this a big deal? The guy races on Pirelli's and why should it change... because he's in America?
Maybe he could ask to put Monster energy stickers on the bike too…. No big deal right??

Pirelli is the best tire on the market.

The reason it’s a big deal is because I, like many, assumed he would be riding for the American factory team, running all the same parts. It’s interesting he’s still running his MXGP set up (graphics, tires, etc.). So technically, is he not riding for the American factory team, but being hosted by the American team? Be interesting if ML could dig into the details of this deal!

I love Pirelli personally, I find them as good as Dunlop ride wise but last longer.
Everything lasts longer than Dunlop. I can't believe everyone thinks they are awesome. There are at least 5 other brands I would buy before them.

i think he is contracted to KTM still, not to any team. And he is obviously used to this setup. Tires, suspension, everything. Probably the reason why he is racing the bike as close as possible as he was used to Cheerful

Do they do well on the sand tracks, or mostly hardpack?

I actually hadn't given much thought to tires at the national level. The pros are pretty much always on new tires.

But I was thinking about what I had seen on bikes, etc and I couldn't remember seeing anything but Dunlop. So a quick check of sponsors and I find that Cairoli is the only top 10 rider NOT on Dunlop.

So I ask, why isn't Michelin, Hoosier, Pirelli, Maxxis, Bridgestone, etc putting the bucks in to have a shot at winning races? Are they all simply satisfied with their market share?
