ROCKSTAR ENERGY HUSQVARNA FACTORY RACING TEAM ROSTER CONFIRMED FOR OPENING ROUNDS

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Malcolm Stewart is expected to miss the first half of the upcoming AMA Pro Motocross Championship as he continues to rehab an ongoing knee injury sustained during the Supercross season. The 50th Anniversary of the outdoor series begins on May 28 with the Fox Raceway National in Pala, California, where Shane McElrath is set to fill-in for the team in the 450MX class, joined by teammates RJ Hampshire, Stilez Robertson and Jalek Swoll in the 250MX division.

Establishing himself as a front-runner all season long in the 450SX class, Stewart delivered impressive results in his first outing with the team. Progressively inching his way toward an illustrious first win, the Florida native unfortunately sprained his knee during a crash at the St. Louis Supercross but he continued racing through the remainder of the season. He re-injured the same knee at the season finale in Salt Lake City and upon further evaluation, it was determined that he would need additional time for recovery. Expected to miss the first half of the MX series, Stewart will continue rehab and recovery in hopes of lining up for the second half of racing this summer.

Malcolm Stewart: “What a year! I want to thank the entire Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing team for all the support through the Supercross series. I sprained my knee in an awkward crash at the St. Louis SX but I managed to rehab it and ride through the pain well enough to make it through the remaining rounds feeling pretty good. I was really looking forward to returning to the MX Nationals this summer, but some things out of my control happened in the Salt Lake City Main Event and in that crash, I further injured my knee. This has forced me to sit out at least the first half of the season but I will continue to work hard at the Baker’s Factory in the meantime to make a full recovery, and I look forward to seeing all y’all fans this summer!”

Teammate Dean Wilson will also miss the first part of the season as he continues to recover from injuries sustained during his crash in St. Louis. In the meantime, Shane McElrath will fill-in for Wilson aboard the FC 450 Rockstar Edition. Joining him in the 250MX lineup will be veteran team riders RJ Hampshire, Stilez Robertson and Jalek Swoll who are all ready to contest the 2022 title this summer.

Wonder how the vibe is between Husky and Gas Gas now that they know that Dumb Dumb took one of their riders out of the first 6 to 8 weeks of the nationals? Racing hard is one thing but a clear take out is another thing.

So he was able to ride through the pain in sx but not outdoors. Did he have surgery ?? That is a general question that riders will ride injured indoors but not well enough to ride outdoors.

I think he said he was rehabbing it and it was feeling better. Then barcia hurt it again to the point he needs to rest it. Barcia must be getting a lot of crap because you can’t tag him at all. I’m down for some good rubbing is racing…not tag the guy on the drivers door head on. Shitty move.

We all heard the rumors this week about this, but damn it! He was having one of his best years and might be the best bike he has been on in his career. F’ing bummer

Mit12 is talking about relations between GasGas and Husky since they are owned by the same company.

That means they still have a 450 sitting in the truck... PUT ANSTIE ON IT!!! At least until one of the other 2 regulars gets back.

I'm a mookie fan and would love to see him. But more and more riders are sitting out the 450 class every year . Or they are injured and will return at a later date but never return until sx. Sucks that it has come to this with the modern day racer. Too bad Anstie did not get a shot at it. Hell Marvin would probably be interested in a outdoor ride still.

Look at the way he rode after he was hit by barcia. He jumped back on hammered out the rest of the race and went from about 7th back to almost 3rd.
Not a chance he was injured

Adrenaline helps in those moments.

It’s a lot easier to re-injure the knee outdoors than supercross I think. If you dab your knee in a corner at the speeds they are at outdoors and it’s already unstable, you’re done.

Plus the long motos are brutal when you’re injured. The extra 13-15 minutes per Moto really adds up.

The way I have always seen it is let the riders handle it on the track.

That would work fine it the AMA would not penalize a rider for retaliation. At the local level we self policed with payback and dirty riders cleaned up their act when it came to riders that repaid them.

My favorite was when James Stewart knocked down (not on purpose) McGrath during a heat race and then at the start of the main McGrath bumped Stewart off the track putting him at the back of the pack. Cool Cool Evil

Barcia isn't fast enough to pass the top guys clean so he does that instead. It's ridiculous. He should just retire. That's not racing.

C'mon man, how many of you fools actually believed Stewart had any intention of racing the Nationals?
