You said it yourself. “… and when he got his PC ride by passing Broc Tickle at Glen Helen on a 250 when Broc was on a 450.” I just copied and pasted from your response. I see no contradiction. When you get time away from bopping for Austin’s lap apples, try proof reading what you post before actually posting it. Also, I don’t care if Austin himself would have told ME that he got his ride because he passed someone in practice himself, I would’ve called BS. I can tell you were probably just loving the fact to even be in his presence so you were eating up whatever he was telling you. One last thing - it appears based on the way you are talking that you and Austin are buds. Does he know that you are in a Vital forum bigging up Jett? You’ll have some explaining to do if he ever decides to come back to a pathetic area or place like Missouri or even go to a place like Iowa and it’s finally your turn to get to talk to him after you waited in line so long to get a picture with him. Gods speed brother.

He lacks situational awareness. It’s why he is always hurt. He is probably using 100% off his concentration to ride at his speed. It doesn’t leave anything left to adjust or even see what is about to happen around him.

You may know where your position is on a large freefall formation.
But knowing how to be aware of how it's building, when to be where you need to be, and how to make that docking is even more important.

You don't just dive bomb into position.

Forkner's idiotic dive bomb move on Varize was proof that he has a very narrow focus on track.
One of the reasons I said that Jett needs to stay as far away from that guy as race conditions allow.
Sounds like you know as much about moto as I do skydiving. Basically nothing. Varize caused that crash. Rule #1 of SX is you do not cross jump. Varize took a hard left to the exit of the corner just before he realized he made a big mistake. Austin was in the air on the other side of the track when Varize made this bad decision. Not a damn thing Austin could do about it and I'll guarantee you any one of the top 450 guys would have tripled into that corner in the same exact scenario. Your situation awareness BS is just that. Austin is one of the best dirt bike racers in the world and a skydiver thinks he knows better. Comical, really.

I saw 2 guys that were way faster than most battling it out a bit.
Would be good to see more of that.

How many times you hit a triple at the end of a Whoop section while battling for a win?

Just because you’ve been riding longer doesn’t mean you’re doing it better Whistling

Lived in The Ville for a bit. Then moved to Eldon. Then moved to Joplin. Then Branson. Trash. Trash. Trash. Trash. Buddy, Missouri is trash. That state can’t even give us good college football in the fall. This has turned into non-moto related material. Let’s just agree to disagree.

Agreed 100%. Forkner missed 4 full rounds, lost at least some points in Arlington and was just getting back into the flow in Atlanta all over a crash that was not at all his fault. Probably would have at least been a much closer points battle.

Zero.

But....
I never dove off into a corner if I saw someone who might be in a position to cross paths with.
Something that was clearly the case with the "pass" in question.
Once again, showing that forkner's focus is narrow to say the very least.

If you are 3rd or 4th tapped in the whoops, the two riders in front of you are side by side. The one on the left triples which you are now committed to jumping and the one on the right at the last second darts to the inside. By the time the rider decided to make this adjustment you are already stuck. If the rider in front of you doubles then you are going to double as well to not land on him (chisolm in this case). I don't think this is an instance of having a narrow tracked mind as you say with Forkner.

I saw two riders who were riding well within the safe zone and also the two fastest on the track. Also saw an about to be crowned champion unwilling to push it to get the win. With Austin only in his 2nd race in a long time, Jett most likely could have, and would have, passed him if necessary to secure the #1 plate.

Both riders are amazing talents

I saw Jett lay back and let Austin have it. He was in champ mode and wanted to make sure that was done. He fell back and closed right back up on him. He’s super smooth and doesn’t even look like he’s trying. Austin looks panicked everywhere on the track like he’s running last and trying to get to the front which causes his mistakes.
With ease... hate to be the guy that has to figure out the Rubik's Cube there

Jett goes on the Pulpmx show and says he felt he had the upper hand on all the guys all year, and never rode out of his comfort zone. He also accidentally let slip at some point that he gave Forkner the win. Knowing how humble Jett usually is, for him to say those things probably means he wasn’t joking. Forkner just isn’t at that level of confidence and poise yet.

A few things I noticed.

Technique-wow what a difference between the two. Jett looks in control the entire time. His legs tell the bike where to go.

Setup- Austin had a twitchy bike. It handles quickly, it just looks almost sponge like when the forks rebound quickly. Doesn’t seem very forgiving. Conversely, Jett’s Honda looks incredibly balanced and predictable.

Confidence- Austin clearly has some, but looks more like a racer who is willing his way to the front. When he gets real confidence back i see another level in him similar to years past. Jett oozes confidence right now. Calm, cool, and collected with the patience to allow things to play out.

What has caught your eye?
This was a really long post just to bash Austin…
