The dude deserves respect for sure but he's not some miracle worker of a Team Manager like many want to believe. As evidence I present to you the Suzuki years before RC arrived, maybe he shoulda spent more time in the machine shop in those days?
Let the downvotes commence. Free thinkers are always shunned by the sheep majority.
Y’all Decoster 🥜 huggers can’t have it both ways….
It’s time, we need change, it starts at the top. If DeCoster can’t see that it’s time to move on then he’s not half as smart as some of you want him to be.
When a rider is selected for the MXON, his team asks money to the National federation to bring his bikes to the biggest race of the year. What makes it difficult for federations who are always running a tight budget to pick the best riders and are going for the most effort able riders. Pick a KTM/GASGAS/Husqvarna rider and you are saving money with shipping the bikes. Because the Austrians can give their riders the same bike straight from the Austrian factory floor... Other brands are still stuck in a narrow minded d!4k swinging contest where USA teams aren't using European bikes and the other way around.
This could all be solved if both teams as riders put a clause in their contracts that make their sponsor pay a bonus, when a rider gets selected for the MXON. Because if that would happen teams wouldn't be asking for money at the AMA, FMB-BMB, KNMV, FFM, ... (the national federations) but would get it from their sponsors who are represented at the biggest race of the season. Because it's laughable that those brands are using the MXON as marketing tool, but are paying no dime.
The last and probably the biggest problem is the placement on the schedule. When the AMA MX series is already done for 3 weeks, we can't expect them to waist 3 weeks on with motocross training while they could've rest-up and start SX-prep. But again that is something neither MXoN coach can solve that is infront (David Luongo) that needs to find a solution for that.
Rupert, we all know this is where you're subconscious has been leading you all along.
Pit Row
It’s a fun exhibition race where some of the best racers around the world go head to head. All of these events are held for entertainment, stop trying to shoe horn in this weird aspect as if they are on the front lines of the military protecting their country.
Until the racers are paid handsomely to race in their off time, you can fuck off with the “it’s a shame no one wants to represent their country” opinion. This is dirt bikes, not another world war.
