But even without the 'Republican' tag, there is more solidly conservative than at least half of the Republican's in the House and Senate. I was right here when the discussions of the protests and/or the riots were taking place. I was and am strongly against violence as a means to achieve a message. I did support marchers, but not rioters who damaged property or injured other people. I have been very consistent in that for decades, and will remain so. I was disappointed that the Seattle police were so quick to leave the CHAZ zone, and I abhor the violence that took place there. I am, though, somewhat grateful that it did not turn in to a bloodbath with even more innocent people and law enforcement officers killed or seriously hurt which could have easily happened. My son lives just a few miles north of there and his reports of going there were not as bad as you were probably hearing about from Tucker Carlson, but the folks that they could identify who were acting to keep the police out or hurt others should definitely be sitting in prison in my view.
I was and am in favor of using law enforcement to stop people from breaking the law, but not to quell people who are exercising their First Amendment rights. You should be too. You seem to be of the belief that anyone who inconveniences you while sharing a different viewpoint should be assaulted by the military. We will never agree on that, obviously.
As for my inferiority complex, maybe I do have one from time to time. I'm too close to be objective, so I'll take your word for it. But it'll take me quite a bit of time to catch up with yours, I'm sure!
Portland definitely saw an increase in murders over the last several years. But 1600%? C'mon, even you know that is bullshit don't you? Do you understand what 1600% means? Or is it something that you heard that sounds good for your viewpoint?
I don't live in Portland, but I have 2 daughters who do/did. My youngest moved out to Hillsboro, but my oldest had marchers up her street fairly often. It has been scary at times. And while I didn't go down there very often during the protests and riots in 2020, I did stay downtown during some of the clashes between the Patriot Prayer folks who came into town just to cause trouble with the locals a few times. One of those times we were a block and a half away from what the news was describing as a huge conflict, and we didn't even realize anything was going on.
Obviously the 2020 stuff got even more serious, but to downplay what occurred on Jan 6 is asinine at best.
Open your damn eyes also, and stop making excuses for the shit that occurred that day. The only explanation is that you are willing to excuse it because you liked what occurred as they were in alignment with your politics.

The pretense of the so-called insurrection was not merely the incidence itself, but that of judicial disparity and discrepancy of enforcement for pre-trial suspects. And now turning into a case so weak on merit, that a congressional committee has to be formed in order to bare charges to keep those responsible for chamber security from being culpable themselves. As far as the 2 choices you gave, there is at least one more and that is that there were millions of votes for Biden that were really not as much for Biden as they were against Trump.
