He's the points leader. It makes sense that they move the camera on him if he goes down. It could be a simple tip over or something major that changes the outcome of the championship.

It would be the same thing if a different rider was leading the championship. It's not just because he's Jett Lawrence.
Remembering back to Jason's championship season.
A few races to go, and he destroyed his front wheel.
The camera crew focused on him entirely as they were swapping wheels.
(And he was losing his shit)

What happens when Jett gets busted for doing roids before KTM Mini E cross or him and his brother tag teaming a monster chick ? The kids human and every rollercoaster ride has to go down eventually. They are building him up too fast too far. You cant just will yourself a new McGrath, it doesnt work like that.

We've gotten McGrath, RC and James Stewart who where big enough to attract non moto fans. Also Travis Pastrana could've and would've been one of them but ... Feld is now trying to create a new persona that shines above his own sport. Like McGregor, you don't have to need to be a UFC/MMA fan to know that POS. Ronaldo & Messi the same, you don't need to know a thing about soccer to know those two and Kobe, Jordan, LeBron are also such persons who are bigger then basketball.

Motocross and Supercross is looking for someone like that and those two Aussie brothers are perfect for it.

Your telling me if they Picked Forkner.. He would willing hang out after racers walking along the stands signing autographs or carry a private press day to interact with the fans and have the same affect?

The reason he gets attention is because Jett gives it back to the fans.

The Moto Academy stuff him and Hunter are doing with Catanzaro is awesome too. I can't imagine getting to do a riding school with MC, for example, back in the day

Exactly.
Forkner comes across as the arrogant prick that he is.
The Lawrence bros, and their entire family, come across as truly grateful for everything that they've worked, and sacrificed for.

Something nobody should begrudge them for that.
They're an addition to the sport.

I agree, the media is trying way too hard with him.
But that's all the pre race crap I fast forward through anyway.
I hit play when I see the 30sec board.

A lot of fans follow 250s, but don't get too emotionally involved. It's easy to like a phenom.

But when they move to 450, and they're a threat to defeat "your" rider and brand, the hate can come out. Jett's parents would be wise to dial back the media access to his every hobby. I like to watch him ride, nothing more. 18-year-olds with limited life experience and education tend to be fairly uninteresting.

I will be doing a ton of fast-forwarding when Jett is in 450 and the Deegan offspring is in 250.

Edit: To the poster right above, Forkner has gotten WAY better. He's changed a lot. Much mellower, more wisdom. I'm starting to like the guy.

And it was pretty bad ass watching him in the Atlanta heat race.
Jumps back into they fray, pretty much dead last after the first turn mayhem, and wins the damn thing at the last second.

Youre definitely missing the point. Kids about to win his first title which is awesome, but again there has been alot of good rides, riders, race battles etc over shadowed by jett. Thats all. I want to see good racing not one rider for 15 minutes of a 20 minute main. Btw i race hondas....

Overshadowed by the points leader and the guy who can come from last to podium. Its the same on the other Coast with Craig.

These good riders better start winning if they want the spotlight.

you dont get it, the media is always going to cover a guy who is a freak on the bike with immense talent whether you like it or not, regardless of other battles/riders/etc ....build a bridge and get over it

When your sport doesn't have superstars its falls into extinction, at least in terms of being a professional sport with media and fan attention. Moan about Jett coverage all you want, but he'll bring eyes to the sport. Eyes = money.
