I also never met scottie in person but felt i knew him. Moto to the core for sure. I have been on this board in whatever name changes it went through since like 04. Ocscottie was always there to talk.
I work in healthcare and to watch people struggle is heart wrenching at times. Im hate to see the guy go but im glad he got to go on his terms. God speed scottie!! Say hello to my boy up there, i believe yall share a birthday.

Very sad to hear this, always enjuoyed his knowledgeable contributions on here, he had a real passion for this sport despite everything that happened. His account of his accident was written superbly and allowed people to emotionally go through what happened. RIP.

Saturday nights (Sunday evenings here) were epic. A day of multiple sports and messages including getting "ham", what drink of choice, then getting ready to prepare a nice meal and hit the sheets. He was quite the cook.

Terrible news. I didn't know him personally, but I was aware of his story and his struggles, and like all of you, interacted with him on this board as well as Motodrive.

No more pain, see you on the other side, my friend...

Scottie sent me this pic when he got his new glasses. For many years him and I would text for hours about whatever sports we were watching, mad skills and just life in general. I’m going to miss that. I like to think he’s still watching over all of us. When I rode my mountain bike yesterday I thought about him the entire time, I envisioned him yelling at me to ride more “rad” lol. I hit a jump that I’ve been avoiding for a couple months, hit it cause he was on the ride with me.
Miss ya brother. #28 4ever as you would say 🙏🏻

Thanks Jeff, you included. That’s the thing about Scottie you knew he loved you as he would often sign off with, love ya bro! He would talk about a lot of you guys, with never one negative word, always positive. Thanks for that Chip. I used to talk to Scottie quite a bit , mostly through email. Had his # years ago and we text back and forth a bit when he was a Mod here. We spoke a little less these past few years , mainly because I think he was disappointed with some of my stupid /pissed off rants I would go on. I remember one email he sent me , saying I was " Acting like an ass.....just be better! " Haha. When he lectured me , I always listened. I am sorry I was such an ass at times Scottie , never meant to be!

Last few years we didn't talk as much , as I know he was struggling , I would send him positive vibe email. It sometimes took a few days , but he would always respond in kind. He was always such a positive dude , that just loved his MX community buddies. I tried to get him to go to the US GP at Glen Helen a few years back when me and a bunch of guys were hanging with Dwayne all weekend. I offered to push his ass around all day , if he would just get there! I wanted him to go so bad. 20+ years of talking to Scottie and I never got to meet him. Really wish I could have made that happen.

Man its awesome to see just how many lives OC Scottie touched, I only knew him from this site, but always loved reading his comments on the threads, whether it was the raceday threads, about the NBA, or F1, we shared a lot of interests.

To be honest I had no idea the extent of his injuries, youd never guess with the way he went about life, a true fighter. It has been awesome going through the memories and pictures on here, Rest In Peace Scottie.

Add me among the many that never had the pleasure to get to interact with OC Scottie but at least had the fortune to get to know him a bit from his posts and replies.

And like many- I'm wishing today that I had gotten the chance to know him more as his presence here what linked all of our common bond together of all things that stemmed from our love of motocross.

I especially admire OC Scottie for his incredible strength throughout his journey and for enlightening those of us that have never had to go through what he's dealt with... And to all of you other moto-brothers and moto-sisters out there that have shared your experiences through serious and life changing injury-- I thank you for sharing with us all.

You can say whatever you want about some of the stuff that has gone down here on Vital- especially in the last couple years as the world went completely mad and that some things discussed here often went quickly off track-- but it was always nice knowing that we were all community and family bonded by our common love of motocross.

OC Scottie was one of those family members of mine I wish I got to know more... I take peace in knowing his pain has ended and like so many others here- will see see him on the other side... Rest easy and moto on Scottie...

Haven't posted in nearly four years but wanted to say my piece here, where OC was loved by all.

Like many of you, Scottie was a staple in my online moto experience from the very beginning. For a while we would text throughout the day and play Mad Skills. He actually paid for the premium bikes when MSM2 first came out because I was a broke college kid and couldn't justify the $5! We would talk about Red Bull and moto and other BS - we were friends. Unfortunately I never got to meet him in person, although we tried on a road trip one time. I try not to look back in regret, but in hindsight I wish we would have found a way to make it work.

I'm gutted that Scottie is gone but I am happy that he is no longer suffering. There's really no other way to look at it, if you ask me.

Godspeed OC, I will savor my Red Bull a little more today...

Well we had some long nights grinding laps in MCM. Hard to believe that was over 20 years ago. Was really happy to see him get this gig here at Vital. For OC's sake, It would be nice to see less toxicity in the forums. I know that's a huge ask. Try and treat each other with some respect.

Farewell Scottie. Everything everyone else has said is echoed by me. Back when I was more involved in the forum I always thoroughly enjoyed hosting and interacting in race day threads with you!

100% support on my end, Sir. You're amazing to have ridden that tempestuous train as long as you did.

IMO, Scotty was courageous, he looked into the eyes of adversity and punched it in the mouth. If we are to take anything from this, whenever you start feeling sorry for yourself, there is a guy out there in worse shape than you, waking up everyday, trying to get through another day.

Scotty spent the majority of his life in horrible pain, and still woke up everyday for 37 years doing what needed to be done until it became unbearable, he’s my hero.
