In the most recent AJ Catanzaro video at the 83 compound, I noticed Hunter's bike had the Stegz Pegz on the left side of the bike. I always thought they were some weird gimmick. I wonder why he's using them? Also looks like he's riding a 450. I just thought it was interesting.

That's pretty wild.

I know a couple off road guys who run them and really like how they help you grip the bike in faster terrain.

I got a set late last year for my dual sport, just before it started snowing….

The few rides that I’ve gotten to put in with them I’ve liked them, mostly because my knees are actually above my seat enough that it’s really hard to grip the bike. These help a lot.

Both him and Jett have talked about issues gripping the new skinnier bike since they dropped the dual exhaust. Looks like maybe they found a solution.

Another fine Aussie product.
The No1 bike accessory at Finke, they actually do help out there.

Been using them for 6 years. Awesome except for hard enduro as you need your legs to slide freely.

Saves a ton of energy and keeps your posture correct when going fast.

Hi Mate,

Basically they are a support for the back of your legs, just above the calf and below the knee depending on your height.
You use them when riding rough or wooped out areas when standing is must and you lean back onto the Steg peg, it helps take some pressure off your arms/hands, helps with arm pump issues and give's some stability assistance as well.
Really good for high speed desert racing.

Hi Mate

I ran them in the Finke a few years ago and they were amazing, only issue I had was a blister in the area where the rubber "stopper" rubs on your calf through the boot but in all honesty, i was relying on them a lot as I was shagged!!!

I tried them…but I found when I was on the balls of my feet, they were on the inside of my boots, which pushed my heals out farther than I was comfortable, so I took them off. If they were set a little further back, I can see how that would be super helpful.

I initially had the same drama so I had some extra spaces made up, or brought them, its been a while, so they sat further around the back of my boot and that helped.

I’ve only had a couple of rides off road with them but I could barely feel them through my boots. The only time that they’ve bothered me so far has been when I have been commuting to work with hiking boots on, and the pucks actually hit my calves. But I really don’t stand much on the street so it isn’t a huge issue so far.

I got the cross country version with 3 pucks/spacers on them (you can remove 1 or 2 if you want) and they seem to rest more on the back of the calf. If I only used one puck then it definitely would hit the inside of my calf mostly.

Again, I’m not using them for anything close to moto nor am I going even 30% of the speed of these racers, but they sure seem to help me when I’m going up a rock strewn hill!!!!

One of the best additions to my bike. Helps to grip the bike and really reduce arm pump. I'm sure better technique would be the preferable solution but screw that I'm 54 years old and my habits are what they are. I'll take any help I can get. lol

He needs them to hold on with those T-Rex arms looking at that photo

I copied some others and installed two rubbers each side for easier grip.

Would you mind showing me what you came up with? I’m interested. Thanks.

It’s intended to catch the back of the boot?
What offset worked for you guys?

Same issue. I'm tall (6'4") and when coming into a corner properly, standing and ass back, the pegs were in the way and a hinderance more than a help.

Wait...dual exhaust = too heavy, too wide... So add weight and width?

They weigh less than a breakfast burrito and they help you go faster for longer. Who cares if they add a tiny bit of weight and width.

Sure. The small bit of weight and width is probably just as immaterial as it was when Vital was bitching about the dual exhaust.

Keep mind, I am specifically responding to a post that specifies certain riders are getting along ergonomically less with the single exhaust bike

They make a version that sits further back, that’s what I run. Their standard set didn’t sit back far enough.

Cheap Steg peg alternative: bolt some trailer door bumpers to your side plates.

Not as sturdy but enough to know if you'll like the concept
