Christian Craig new permanent national #

It looks safe to say that Craig will win the 250 West coast championship this year. By winning that championship, Craig will be able to select a permanent national number. With Justin Brayton retiring from AMA Supercross/Motocross at the end of this Supercross season, the number 10 will become available. Brayton has earned enough points this season that if he was to return next season he could keep the number 10. However, with him having no plans to race AMA races anymore he could release that number. If all of this happens and Craig does not win the 450 2022 AMA Pro Motocross championship, I would be willing to bet that we will see Craig debut in 2023 on a 450 with his new AMA permanent national number 10.

Can’t argue with that. I just don’t see Craig taking that number. More specifically Justin releasing it

Last year in one of Craig's vlogs he was talking about career # and in that video he mentioned that for 2022 he was hoping to do well enough to get 28 and would hope to make it his career. Maybe that has changed but he has done well with #28 and I could see him keeping it.

Also to add, I could see Brayton hanging on to 10 for at least a year. He says he is done BUT......if a team comes calling I think it would be hard for him to not say yes.

Brayton will race Daytona 2023 so the number 10 will be unavailable end of this thread. Time for the Dumbgeon.

4, 5, and 8 are already available, but can only be chosen if you win the 250 MX title, the 450 SX or 450 MX title.

Brayton scored enough points to keep number 10 for another year. Could be available if he decides to releases it.

Same goes for 15 if Dean steps away from racing.

Osborne and Tickle have yet to score points, so 16 and 20 should be available next year.

Reed requested to keep the 22 for this year in case he decided to line up. If he does line up he'll have to score 25 points to keep it another year. The number 22 should be available next year.

Rumor is that he is taking #13 as a reminder of the amounts of seasons that took him win the 250 SX championship as a testament of his perseverance and struggles.

Winning a regional SX championship does not allow you too select a permanent number, you also have to finish top ten in combined points. If Craig finishes well in MX series points along with his 250 SX points he should be there in combined points and will get to pick a permanent # anyways.

Regardless of whether they're racing, I can't imagine any racer being in a hurry to give up their career number. I'd be willing to wager the riders that last ran the ones that are available are all secretly hoping theirs doesn't get selected when someone new qualifies.

So that's quite a detailed and obscure theory, i personally don't see it happening. But who knows/cares...

I think that's all I may have missed some1.
I'm not sure on the exact rule. If a national champion can only pick single digit the following year. Or if years later then can swap. I have herd they can swap once time later.

Colt had a double arm break. He is ment to be fit for rd1.
