China warns of 'worst consequences' for any country that supports Taiwan militarily.

It's only a matter of time before China invades Taiwan.

China’s structural problems are far worse than Russia’s. They can’t risk it.

I wouldn’t be so sure though. They’re terrible as well.

Beijing doesn’t see Taiwan as a sovereign country but rather as a breakaway province that can be absorbed back into China by force if deemed necessary.

China is far too dependent upon exports to handle the shit thrown at Russia

China can't survive iron curtain style, too many people, they need to crank out the cheap shit for the world to feed their billion citizens

We can live without them, be tough for awhile, but we can.

Their entire existence is import/export

I think they are far more prepared to live with sanctions and suffer than we are: they have been prepping. They have a huge stock pile of wheat and fertilizer. They have been buying up huge amounts and restricting export.

But we would have the sharable resources of the free world, from South American fruits and vegetables, European grains, and we are one of the largest beef and pork producers and exporters, a lot of it to china.

Not saying it'd be easy, but with worldwide cooperation amongst UN and NATO nations, we can ride it out

I have faith in America and American ingenuity.

"With worldwide cooperation amongst UN and NATO nations" UN nations? So every country except for the Vatican City?

Our embarrassing and weak "surrender" in Afghanistan is the bench-mark for what's happening to us -now- and it's also the main component of the "why". If you need to argue that that is not the case? Well, man...am I gonna disagree. Based in fact & historical record...I'm gonna disagree.

I read papers from the Hoover and Hudson Institutes. Both stay on top of this shit and have been very concerned with our foreign policy towards these obvious challenges. Notably, shit has become much more concerning since China's obvious disregard for us as noted at the Alaska Summit.

Then, we run out of AFG and we didn't even turn the lights off. Not to mention the international perception of Total Abandonment of OUR OWN & those that fought beside us. The geniuses actually CLOSED BAGRAM and 'mass panic exited' from Hamid Karzai International Airport. Do we remember the human-beings falling out of C17s as they lifted off///or, worse-yet, IN-FLIGHT? I do.

On top of all of that, Biden has shit the bed form the very 1st presser about Ukraine. Anyone remember his Epic Fail about "minor incursion"...?

Oh, did I mention Iran using BALLISTIC MISSILES of a range and scope that we've not seen used against foreign targets?

This is where I remind some of us about the New Alliance between Russia, China and Iran...or...

Did we forget?

Here's a reminder of what's goin' on with THIS ADMINISTRATION & their Absolute Foreign Policy Ignorance...from MSNBC...

"The White House on Thursday sought to clarify remarks by President Biden about the consequences of a "minor incursion" by Russia into Ukraine that appeared to undermine weeks of intense U.S.-led diplomacy aimed at stopping an invasion of the former Soviet republic.

Officials in Kyiv reacted angrily to Biden's comments at a news conference Wednesday in which he appeared to wobble on backing Ukraine if it were attacked by its larger neighbor. An array of U.S. lawmakers and world leaders also expressed dismay at Biden's comments, with some saying the president appeared to offer his Russian counterpart a green light to launch a limited invasion."

Weakness causes war. Teddy Roosevelt, Harry Truman and Ronald Raegan & even GHW Bush -all- knew this.

Well, we could if certain political faction would stop putting knives into the heart of domestic manufacturing and making us more dependent on foreign supply.

Let’s be real, we are two pissed off countries away from a major supply issues.

We need to keep our markets domestic, or at least to this hemisphere. Why tf are we constantly doing overseas trades? Last I checked, South America has plenty of energy resources and agriculture. Let’s do more business with our southern neighbors and start helping them flourish.

May also take care of our ridiculous south border problem (which btw, apparently Blinkin is giving a finger to the federal court order that stated the Trump stay in Mexico policy was to remain in place).

Honestly, I fucking hate Russia and China and I would love to see them cut off from everything North Korea style.

Look at how many of their citizens moved stateside and got hemmed up for spying, or even a few of our spying for them. Southern border is bad enough, we need to cut that shit out yesterday.

I agree with much of your post .

Western liberal democracies believed that the Cold War ended in the 90’s and the western way of life had won . The sole focus of western governments for the last few decades has been completly about free trade free trade free trade (much to the big corporations liking) . We exported jobs and sovereignty for Corporate profits and personal debt . And now here we are , Cold War is back bigtime , we are poorer as citizens , and dependant on sworn enemies . But hey … at least Apple and Facebook and Amazon made a killing the last twenty years or so .

I read this somewhere and believe it to be true, "The only thing an election changes is WHO gets the money". The nation's security will (and always has) take a back seat to profit. When you make deals with the devil...there is always fine print. Sad part is...you and I...us....we didn't sign anything. We were all too busy trying to put eats on the table to notice our "elected officials" had dropped us in the shit. It doesn't matter which party is in charge...

I’ll simply state like I did in another post that yes, both parties feed us to the wolves for profit. But I’d at least rather stick with the one of two evils where my hard earned dollar has more value due to a stronger domestic economy.

The world is dependant on Taiwan manufacturing of semi conductors, it's a far more valuable country than Afghanistan or Ukraine, I don't think a war in there is really on the cards. China wants it but they are not stupid.

China is in a far more precarious position than many of you seem to think. From a civilian perspective they are largely dependent on other countries and isolating sanctions would cripple them more than they will Russia. China is a net importer of food and energy and doesn’t have the domestic capacity to support their population.

China also has a major demographic problem. Within 10 years they will have the largest population of retirees per capita and should top Japan as the oldest average population in the world. This is partly a result of their one child policy but the trend continued even after that policy was erased. Chinas consumer economy is driven by high impact spending by young people. They’re buying pizzas and cars and electronic devices, not houses and diapers. This drives rapid technological development but doesn’t bode well for the long term.

Meanwhile, the cost of Chinese labor has risen significantly since the early 2000s but efficiency has grown only marginally. As any country grows richer the cost of its laborers rises. Mix in china’s retiring and dying labor force and this changes compounds in a way that outstrips productive output. China is getting more expensive but productivity isn’t rising at nearly the same rate. This growth has been driven by foreign investment and stays largely dependent on it, mostly from the United States. If the US banned all Chinese consumer imports (an easier feat than banning food or energy imports) The Chinese economy would deteriorate very quickly.

Now let’s look at their military. China has a gigantic population, but it’s demographic of men of war fighting age and suitability isn’t a reflection of that huge population. Compared to the Russians the Chinese have less equipment and it’s not as sophisticated. The Russians have fought wars in Syria, Georgia, Kazakhstan, etc. over the last two decades, but the Chinese have been much less active. If the Russians are having this much trouble in Ukraine with all that experience, how would the Chinese do in a war? Russia also has an advantage in Ukraine because they were able to mobilize from the borders with a huge number of tanks and armored vehicles. China would have to invade Tawain over unfriendly waters. The country has two Soviet era ski-jump type aircraft carriers that carry a combined 60 aircraft. A single American aircraft carrier can hold 90 aircraft… and we have eleven of those.

Everything you said is 100% correct, just we need to sort our shit out before we implement such a measure.
