Sx gets twice as many views on YouTube. Those numbers are real.

Live tv ratings, GPs smash supercross.

So you’re saying that GP racers choose not to race SX because the TV ratings are lower?
No, I’m saying that most of the people in Europe favor the GPs over supercross, so the ratings are better.

Supercross is the premier series here, the GPs are the premiere series there. The money is there now, the facilities are much better and tv package is actually treated like a legitimate sport.

Forget the money, once you have reached elite level it's all about desire!! Who wants to train for 1st place and end up 2nd? Or 3rd, 4th?
I didn't read the entire thread so forgive me if I outaline.

The GP's to me are more of a European Championship rather than a world championship. They would have to hit every country on the planet to be "World". I can't recall them going to Canada, Nigeria, Guatemala, Peru, North Korea, Uruguay, Botswana, Nepal, Greenland? The GP's are just leaving so much on the table to count them as being a true world championship. The US nats and the GP's both have a slew of international riders that race so it can't be based on rider nationality right?
Facepalm.

Sorry but being "world Champion in mx" doesn't have the same luster as it did in the 1970s. Being SX champ is the pinnacle of the sport and that's why riders like Kroc and Reed all the others come here so they can try to become the best of the best. Cool I don't blame riders like Hearlings and Everts or AC for not coming to the US because they can be the big fish in the small pond and dominate in the MXGPs All of them could possibly become SX champion because they are all good enough they just didn't want to risk it and tryBlush
Thanks for your opinion. My opinion is MXGP starting losing some of its appeal to US fans back in 2012 when Team USA stopped dominating MXoN. MX and SX are two separate sports with distinct differences so you are factually incorrect saying there is only one sport.

Consider for a moment the US isn't the center of the world and realize the world wide market for motorcycles is much larger than the US market. This is why companies like FMF became a sponsor of MXGP. US riders dominate SX because of their focus and international riders dominate MX because of their focus. I'm over the so and so is the best rider in the world since it depends what discipline you're referring to.

Yes I agree too MxGP guys do very well, Herlings in a Dutch interview talked about earning around 4 million in one year.

A US MXGP champion would probably make more as would expand the market further.

The top KTM riders get the same basic salary, but there's more bonus money to be made in the US. Also SX reaches a bigger crowd and therefore there's more money to be made from secondary sponsers.

Actually, the GPs have more views.

Herlings bonus pay is as good as the highest American KTM rider.
Did you see Herlings post on Insta saying he just bought his 58th house???😳

If it is so terrible why did some of the sports greats ride SX only? McGrath, Reed, Stew.. I don't think money is the answer. Did Pastrana start shifting his focus to freestyle when he had a Suzuki contract for money? A sport that is the most dangerous thing you can do on a dirt bike? There are plenty of people in this world that do dangerous shit that dont get paid at all.

Watching the press conference after Arlington and seeing Jason and Eli sharing laughs...and understanding the revenue they're both enjoying this year...just from Race Win Bonuses...

I know why "elite riders" want to race Supercross.
