Ellie Reed Shares Her Thoughts on "Pros Who Can't Ride Whoops"

2/14/2022 4:46pm Edited Date/Time 2/14/2022 4:46pm
LOL, her husband ate shit at San Diego in the whoops in 2014 and took himself out of the series.

The Reeds are super-cringey. Always have been, now they just have to market it because Chad isn't on the gate.

You mean when Kennys rear end stepped out and crossed over in front of Reed and took his wheel?
Wasn't either fault. racing indecent.. but to say Reed ate shit at his own fault isnt right

I don't disagree with her assessment. I think a big set of whoops is an important part of American SX and I'm surprised at all the hate they have been getting lately.

They separate the men from the boys!

One thing's for sure: her plastic surgeon was an artist.

I’ve heard pretty damn good “race analysis” out of Ellie & Mathilde at the practice track AND at the races; so, there’s alway “that”.

Oh, and then there’s this: she’s not wrong.

Maybe these guys should spend less time training together at riding facilities and actually working?

Dv skimmed whoops with no helmet and tennis shoes years after he retired.

There’s something missing , setup, the right gear , something. Gary semics has a great YouTube video of windham smoking the whoops and pastrana struggling hard. Sometimes it’s the little things.

We all know that guy who can just nail them, even at the am level.

Craig is good , and his bike is too but he’s not some game changer. He’s good. The other guys , good as they are everywhere else , suck.

My husband would like a job as a test rider, therefore I will mock everyone else in hopes Chad can get some steady income.

She isn't wrong but that doesn't make it not terribly vague and obvious advice. If I told you to drink water and get rest before a race, it's not wrong advice right?

No, it's just generic and blatantly obvious.

Every fucking pro rider has heard what she posted 1000x over, it isn't groundbreaking and it isn't insightful in the least.

If the average rider posted what she posted, they'd get clowned 10x over. Separate the message from the messenger and it's just painfully generic, worthless advice.

I get a kick out of It. Chad’s wife is all “WTF?” as she watches several top riders CHOKE in the Whoops this season.

That’s what I’m seeing. Especially after A3.

Couple things I learned from this thread

Elle knows whoops but not the difference between you’re and your

Kyle got pretty worked up

Chad used to be good at whoops and probably motor boating…

She's wrong! she has them in the wrong order. 1st- Get the bike set up 2. Proper technique, then you can put your balls to use. But I could be wrong, just couldn't imagine just saying Fuck it, Imma pin it thru these whoops, bike set up be dammed.

Skim them or jump them
I would brake check ya for that cute Smile. I just delivered to NC reload got a 2nd shift of 14 west bound and down loaded up and truckin, that’s how a man gets paid. The other way is Warp Speed in the whoops. Whoops r my favorite section, blasting by riders like there chain broke. I ride them for 20 min straight , forward and backward in muggy 95 degrees. If there wore down a bit backwards is more difficult. There really just a flat straight away if you have any balls and get your head right. Revalve for big clay whoops helps alot too. Ellie is right on everything she said.

Please let me coach you on Child Birth Ellie because I was at all the Ultrasounds with my wife so listen to me now LOLOLOL

I don't recall those two going on Instagram to publicly and quite aggressively call out the current crop of Pros.

If she wants to coach her son how to ride that's fine, but going on Instagram all aggressive with "Pros that can't ride whoops WTF" after a weekend of nasty whoop crashes by some high profile Pros is pretty low IMO.

You might want to watch that one again boss. Chad was already out of control before he ran up on Kenny. Watch the clip above, right between 21-22 sec you can see he gets slapped by the bike and his feet are off the pegs, then he runs it into the back of Kenny. Clearly his mistake.

Context is everything and the Reeds perspective is pre 2022. A blind person can see the whoops this year are unlike anything we've seen in the past. Feld may have shut down Ringling Brothers but the SX circus is alive but unfortunately not well based on rider injuries so early in the season.

A question:

Are rider’s injuries above or below or “at” average, this year?

Statistics Analysis fans wanna know.

I seem to remember her calling out Chad a couple of times in the past. I thought it was pretty funny told him something like If he was gonna act like a p@$$y make they should just go home, harsh.

Those whoops at A3 were a little scary, come out of the corner double and then a pretty long set of deep whoops capable of some serious pain. Watch the Glover + Villo track walk for some perspective. I was not surprised to see even the best check up some in those whoops.

Ellie's criticism is not wrong but somewhat harsh. Setup? Technique? Test riders? Sure, but Can you go full on Bonzai through every whoop section, every lap for the entire series? Doubtful. If done, there is a very good chance you are gonna visit the orthopedic surgeon before series ends.

Don't shoot the messenger.. don't stare at the finger when someone points at something...
Maybe we should draw your attention to the message?

mmmmh... some thoughts of mine :

- There should be limited training during the off-season, like moto-GP... too many racers we wanna see get hurt ...

- Maybe it's time we ban physical racing, it's too dangerous. Have each rider film their prepared best laps at their home-track on cool instabangers... then we vote on our phones who is the fastest, has the sickest kit, dopest vids and everybody gets trophies and hour long podcast interviews for their balls to be polished to a mirror finish.

I heard a racer recently said.." I thought this sport was full of tougher people than that .../ ... people are getting softer and softer..." He who speaks the truth gets some hate.... how does this go again?

-Maybe Christian Craig should be banned from racing kids and inducing them into riding over their limits. Could we just have him with his current bike in the 450 class.. just once ? please?

My 5 cents this last race brought me memories of some 90s races. It's kinda cool to see pros having to walk a razor's edge.. sometimes. They tend to make it look easy while it's not. This sport is supposed to be dangerous, right?

I'm still confused, do we want a hardcore serious sport or entertainment?

Can't wait to have our main man Bubba tell us what he thinks. Peace

I have no idea how to hammer a set of whoops, but in one of Chads YouTube videos he talks about fanning the clutch all the way through, and James is the only person who he has ever seen ride them without using the clutch.. There is obviously a lot more to the technique than us regular people know about.
