PNW private tracks

Is there anyone out there with a private track willing to let people come and ride? I am willing to help prep/pay for diesel/pay an entry fee and sign liability form. I enjoy most of the public tracks around here but the prices are starting to get pretty steep. I think High Desert is the cheapest at $25 but that's a 3 hour drive for me so I pay the difference in gas getting there. I know its an expensive sport and tracks need to make money to stay in business but it sucks paying $40-50 to get 2-3 15 minutes sessions for the whole day. On top of that some tracks let quads and even side by sides on the track so it blows out every line that was there. I haven't been down to California to ride but from what i hear most tracks are $25-$30 for practice and the track is open to ride to everyone all day, not broken ups into classes. Why is it that Riverdale is the only track in this area to not split practices up into groups? Anyone else out there get frustrated paying top dollar to sit at the truck for over an hour before getting to go ride again?

Most tracks down here have more than one track going at a time. Usually a vet and “pro” track, plus the mini bike track, and they don’t only run once a week so people are spread out thru the week days plus the weekend. If they didn’t split practices up there it would be kinda crazy, and super dangerous. I lived and rode in the NW for years and I kinda miss split practices because they are kinda like 15min motos. But I remember Shougal practices and only getting three practice motos in, that sucked especially at their prices.

Well Mountain view will be open up in a few months , and they have "limited " practice days , and that's open all day for big framed bikes only. You can get a bunch of riding in there. When I go to places like Washougal , Albany , Woodland ect i always buy two classes. That can be spendy at Washougal but I think Albany and Woodland , the second practice is only $10.00. So on the weekends you have your choice of multiple tracks for race / practice days , the Tuesday's you can hit mtn view , Wednesday's at Albany , Thursday race PIR if you're up for it. That's a lot of riding , but also gets very expensive.

High desert is only an hour and half for me and not worth the drive, I can ride loose dry dirt for free locally and they upped the price to $30.

Mtn view is garbage now that it’s knee deep firewood.

I’m always content with Albany. I wish they had two mid week practices, Wednesdays were packed all summer and sucks when quads show up. But I always put at least an hour on my bike each time.

Eugene is good but can’t run much, looked like it was going to be epic today.

woodland practices more then they advertised, message or email them directly.

PIR needs more practice days.

Moto 541 looks good but haven’t been.

Eddieville opens soon and is open practice but it’s usually dry and marbly. Unfortunately they’ve been allowing sxs but looks like they do have some Mx only practices. If they would water and prep it could be great but have never seen that in the 15 years I’ve rode there.

Check out bad acres or dog town dirt farm both might be up your alley.

With how busy Albany is every Wednesday night I don't see why they don't add a couple more practice days through the week. All of the tracks around here for that matter. Maybe if there was more days/places to ride then it would spread out the amount of people each day so it could be a free ride instead of broken up in classes. But I guess that might not be practical for some of the tracks financially.

I’ll spend more than $2 grand doing prep on my track this spring. And 40+ hours of bust-ass work. $40 isn’t that bad.

Yea i get it when you look at it that way. I guess for me its more how expensive it is vs how much riding you get in. I have no problem paying $40 or even $50 if its an open track that i can go out and do my motos as i please. But its the days where i spend $40 and get 2 good motos and maybe 1 at the end of the day with a beat and dusty track that is a bummer. @hammer663s, if you ever have people out to ride your track id love to come check it out. As i said in the original post id be willing to help with prep, pay a fee, etc.

Lol I’m not whining at all. I think everyone would enjoy more riding time and options to ride throughout the week.

Haha what’s up buddy?! Maybe I said something bad and got a long timeout. Oh well live and learn.
Looking forward to coming up and riding some NW stuff this spring for sure! But it has to be at least above 60! Maybe I’m getting soft lol

Sucks you live so far down south. Riverdale in Toutle, WA isn't the greatest place to ride, especially after May when it stops raining. But $40 gets you unlimited track time and several tracks to choose from. But other than that, kinda have to ride two classes or wait. At least at Grays Harbor ORV, if you ride the pro/int class. Its like 20 min track time vs the 10 min every other class gets.

I'm just giving you shit but no I do agree that we really could use some newer better options around here. Some of the tracks have been running the same thing same way for so long. They are totally set in thier ways.

Buy it's not always greener on the other side part of my family lives in AZ now. Beg me to move I went down there with bikes last time in '19. It was about the same as here really as far as quality of track. No groups just open riding.

But they just lost like 2 tracks this past year maybe a 3rd. And a few more over the years before that.

One thing I wish tracks would do more around here is make changes more often. Not run the same thing for 10 years. Like 80% of the jumps at grays harbor orv which has turned into wood chip bark crap like Mt view. Doesn't do any good if you don't till it in and mix it up.

I learned last year that you have to sneak out in the Vet practice to get some laps in, especially at Bremerton. No one will notice, and like half of the dudes out there are doing it.

I went on a moto trip to Oklahoma a couple months ago. Im doing everything I can to move down there. You can ride 3 different tracks any day of the week, the dirt is good, and you can ride as many laps as you want. Being a motocrosser doesnt make you a second class citizen down there like it does here.

Nice man! I plan on getting back on my bikes here around April I think. I've been off of them for 2.5 years due to a broken right hand that took forever to heal. It still isn't right , but I'll give the bikes a go again if I can hold on. Hit me up if you come up this way dude!

Uhh yea dude we vets noticed and we do care because one you didn't pay for the second class. So your cheating the track for one due to selfishness. Second you younger guys lack track etiquette and pass to aggressive like block passing on a friggin practice day.

If you can't respect the rules of the track and like stealing track time. Stay the fuck home. Better yet sell the bikes we don't need thiefs at the track.

Thanks Joe. Saved me the trouble of typing that.

My dad would’ve slapped me into next Tuesday if I snuck out with Vets or over-40. Some people’s kids…

I downvoted this shit. 58 YO Vet. I don't want ANYONE under 40 out there. Esp under 30 your fvcking brain is 1/2 the size of your balls and most of you give no sh!ts for anyone else out there. I'll punt you if I can catch you. But I'm slow so I might have to Bogle you and wait till you pass me again. Wink

Unfortunately at washougal I've had to tell the gate guy about these young guys trying to sneak in. These idiots think it's harmless but they cheat the track - tracks gets less revenue track gets shutdown.

40-50 bucks?? When I was up in camas this summer we drove up to riverdale and it only cost 20. They refused to get the water truck out though so it was kind of justified. But dam, we’ve got it pretty good down here. 2 national tracks within an hour of each other and both only cost 30

If they live in the Phoenix area its the same drive for us to Airway Heights as it is for Phoenix guys to get Glen Helen and Cahuilla. Plus Shortys is on the border and it looks rad.

Not to mention that many of them ride with their head up their ass like Hammer described. I think most of us over 30, certainly over 40 plus, ride with a bit more respect towards the fact that most of us have to get to a job on Monday and don’t care about “winning” practice.
