Do you have any back flip experience (foam pit, BMX or pit bike)? If not, what makes you think you can pull off a backflip (or something that resembles one) on your first and maybe only try?

I'll look for you on failarmy.Cool

If it’s a 2 stroke. Just get the water out of it and run it up to make sure it’s out. Have seen plenty of bikes drowned refired and kept going

We backflipped the same bike (93 YZ250) into my pond 5 times in the same day. Hit the water wide open every time. Maybe we got lucky, but we just pulled the spark plug and pumped all the water out of the top end, got the oily to the right height if any water entered the bottom end between hits. Completely flushed the entire bike at the end of the day. Far as I know it still runs 🤷🏻‍♂️

I am having thoughts about flipping a 125 into a pond but do not want to do any serious motor damage or electrical damage(bent rod, ruined electrical etc.) when backflipping a bike you’re usually wide open until you land, but I feel like landing on the gas into the water would immediately hydrolock it but it’s also kind of hard to not land on the gas. just wanna hear some thoughts on this, it’s ok if you think i’m retarded lol
You dont need to hold a bike wide open to do a backflip, if you do your seriously doing it wrong 🤦🏼‍♂️
I Hope its a deep lake as if you already think you need to hold ot wide open all the way round then chances are your going in it still upside down and you dont wanna be hitting the floor under water with a bike ontop of you thats for sure

I’ve done the lake thing. It was a lot of work to learn a back flip. We did it 11 times in 1 day. Put floats on the bars and wheels. The plastic gets broken but the bike is fine. I then bought a foam pit and that was a lot better. And now I’m working on a blow up landing. If anyone has thoughts on the blow up it might be a better idea then the lake.

Yeah that’s not ending well. Although I think the worst landing was when my buddy hit the water nose down, underrotated, face first 😂😂

blow up would be expensive I'm guessing? rent one for a couple days maybe and practice and get them around and
then take it to dirt. fear isn't a factor in this I just need something somewhat soft to land into lol

won't be trashed I'll get it running and do atleast 3 runs but social media views and follows are valuable to me anyway and it would be a fun experience. As long as someone gets the shot it'll be okay.

I worked for a guy commercial fishing in Alaska. “Set-netting” off the beach. So we had a whole shop and stuff. Some dude sunk his drift net boat and said we could salvage it. Had several 2 stroke outboards on it that were upside down in the salt water for several weeks. We hung them up in the shop and and flushed everything with fresh water. Pulled the plugs and turned over the engine several thousand times (cheap teenager labor) and sprayed the ever loving dog shit out of it with PB blaster and WD40 in the cylinders. Took apart every electrical connection and let it dry for a couple days. Put fresh plugs in and to my amazement is started right up and ran perfect for the rest of the summer. Probably still runs honestly.
Yea I ride standup jetskis in the surf and have sunk hundreds of times..as long as you pull the plugs and flip it upside down and crank it till the water comes out you can spray some wd in the cyls, run it on one plug for a couple seconds to get the rest of the water out and then ride it hard for 20-30min you are good to go...

Sank my YZ80 in a creek crossing when I was a kid...my old man did the same procedure and got it going luckily as we were a long way from home..

Like I said, we may have gotten lucky. I think it’s just most important to change out fluids after and to make sure not try and fire up the engine if the crankcase is full.

Pastrana or Windham or someone posted a video of them trying to get a 3 wheeler over a pond. They drowned it probably 5 times in a row and it started right up after kicking and draining the water out. I wouldn't have believed if I didn't see the video (at work so I can't search YouTube right now).
The whole Nitro Circus crew took turns trying to get it across, I think they were at Windham's house trying to make it across his bond. Travis bet him his double backflip bike that he could do it IIRC

If fear isn't a factor, why are you looking for a soft landing? Just huck it bro. I don't think doing a single flip into a pond will do much for your social media cred.

I’ve sank some machines (sleds, jet skis, boats) and have recovered many(worked at a marina as a mechanic). Never have I not had the machine back up and running the same day. Even 4T motors with turbos. Get the water out, and get it to operating temp before sinking it again. If a 4T change the oil till it’s fairly not milky then get it good and hot to cook the rest of the moisture out.

I don't know how many times I sank my old 550 in the surf. However the ski had an electric
start so it was easier to get the water out. Then just ran a full tank of gas through and like nothing
ever happened.

I've flipped mountain bikes and bmx, gotta look straight up/back and spot the landing(water). I think I can pull one around and if I do after however many tries it takes...I'm gonna do one more run after and then take it to dirt.

never flipped a dirt bike, have flipped mtb and bmx but no way in hell am I going straight to dirt my first attempt. soft landing isn't about fear it's about having common sense and not going straight to dirt on my first attempt. you're correct about social media cred but it's more for my personal enjoyment, would/will get hella local cred and that's really all I care about social media wise.
