He won’t. Yet to prove he can do it for 17 rounds in 18 weeks. Always falters.
He’s a supercross champion. Nice little qualifier you have there though to discount 2020

It’s only necessary to throw an asterisk on there, especially when he’s crumbled under championship pressure every other year.
You simply cannot asterisk an AMA Supercross/Motocross Championship. The guy with the most points at the end of the season is the CHAMPION. Doesn’t matter if other riders don’t finish the season, the schedule changes, etc. Attrition and adaptability is part of being a champion.

With that train of thought then EVERY championship to ever exist will have an asterik. Every year something happens to shake up a series(SX and MX). Injuries are the obvious, but in 2020 a GLOBAL PANDEMIC happened in the middle of the season and everyone had to adjust.

Yep shit happens. Riders cant control who shows up to race or not. People just make excuses when their guy doesnt win, so they find fault in others.

Someone with suspension wisdom:

Why is Tomac such a fan of KYB?

Is there some unique feel to the factory KYB kit that he could never get from Showa? Did he ever even try Showa at Kawi, I can’t remember? I think he was even running KYB during his 2015 Honda campaign if I’m not mistaken.

Just curious about why he seems to strongly prefer KYB.

I don't know for certain, but all reports (interviews/podcasts/etc) indicate familiarity with the technicians as the reason he uses KYB. I'm sure he could get the other brands to work to his liking, but his favorite techs work for KYB. Also I believe STAR is all KYB now?

Piggy Backing here and I believe ML512 could help out. From what I understand with the major 3 suspension companies are WP is a slower moving A kit that has tremendous hold up. Showa is very performance based and finicky with 1 click being like 3-4 on KYB and KYB has more movement and overall "comfort"

Do you asterisk Webb’s 2021 title?

No because that schedule was all set and ready to go before the season. Tomac got an unexpected and perfectly timed break right around the time he has historically faltered and crumbled under championship pressure. Then he got the final 7 rounds in elevation where he has a definite advantage.
Apparently Covid was created to get Tomac the break and the final rounds SLC
