If I am ever running 3rd in a Supercross race, I will block you, brake check you, and kick your bike into neutral every single chance I get if that's what it takes to podium. Vince may be a goon, but he has every right to ride wherever on the track he wants, and at whatever speed he chooses.

Agree with the OP…Is it really racing if your significantly slower than the guy coming up behind you? At that point Friese was no different than a lapper..

Now if Craig and Friese started together and were battling half the moto with each other, then any form of block passing is fair game..But that’s not what was going on here. They were not battling for position..Friese was a roadblock and he knew it.
It has happened a lot that a faster rider is coming through the pack, catches up to a rider at the front of the pack, misses a couple of pass attempts, then somehow settles into that rider's pace and cannot re-group and get that momentum back. I think that's what Friese was doing, just hoping to hold him back there long enough to disrupt his momentum. There was no contact, no takeout attempt, just a quick game of cat and mouse.

To be clear, I cannot stand the way Friese rides the 450 class. I'm happy to jump on the dog pile when he is going backwards through the pack and intentionally clipping front wheels and generally f-ing up the race that he's not in. But in this weak 250 class he is actually a title contender so I'll give him a break when he's defending his position and nobody hits the ground.

This is just dumb, no rider has the right to ride on the track wherever they want at whatever speed they want. Supercross is dangerous enough, we don't need goon riders adding to the danger.

Well done Vince! great racing.

He's a racer, he's fighting for podium, he's trying ot win races too. Who said you couldn't touch the point leader, not race him? the guy is fighting with you for the same position, go for it.

This sport is called Supercross, this is not flag football.

So only chosen riders have the right to race?

How does one become a chosen one? Do your kids have to have a certain amount of Instagram followers before they can walk? Do you have to party in Temecula? What is the pre-requisites, I'm curious....

Literally never thought I would be on VF side of ANYTHING bc I tend to agree he is nothing less than a hazard. However, I don't even think people in this thread are joking about the fact that this thread was probably created by his wife who is absolutely insufferable.

CC is a baby and it makes it 10x worse anytime something happens his wife is all over every social media its the worst look possible. Then when he wins a fucking 250 RACE at whatever his big age, hes got his kid up there like he just won a title its so cringe.

TLDR; Man up.

All part of the show. And the setup pass that Craig put on Friese was brilliant.

Vince rips.

I thought it was great racing.

Didn't sound like CC had a problem with it.

I swear the only thing Vital hates more than VF is Suzuki.

Actually I think he is fast enough... but he gets too busy upholding his "get within 10 ft and I'm putting you n the cheap seats" mentality, instead of full race mode for a podium or even a win.... sad... but some guys are just that way....

As someone else said, Craig shoulda just known better and waited to blow by him in the whoops. You'd think after a decade in the feeder class he'd have a little more racecraft...
Technically yes, but reality is it was no different then you or I on the track on front of Craig.

If you were riding around in front of Craig (much slower) would you tell people you were racing Craig?

I'd take Vinces riding ability any day, its fun to see him bang with riders. As long as it's not an Aussie rider that is.😁

Wow, I can't even respond to that it's so far from reality.

It's crazy how many nut huggers Craig has.

This wouldn't be an issue at all if these two cherry pickers were in the open class where they belong.

And spare me the "rules" bullshit.
These two are fucking up a class meant for riders working there way up the ranks, winning races, and championships, to add to their resume as a professional rider.
They're thieves.
No different that the tranny swimmers fucking up womens swim meets.

He's on the lead lap racing for position in a race and for a championship that he has a legit shot at. Do you expect him to pull over and waive Craig on by? He's not bowing to other riders - good for him. VF does hurt himself a bit if he plays games that defending 3rd and then the 5th place rider gets close. But that's his decision. Obviously the AMA thought nothing of it and had bigger issues with Bogle Barcia.

I love friese. hes awesome, super nice guy and he fights to stay up front.

i get that he doesnt have the speed but why should he roll over for guys? he's out there to make money like everyone else and it would have been for his first ever podium.

and its not like this is his first time on the track, everyone should know what he does and how to deal with him. this is on craig for trying to get around him in turns instead of a jump section or the whoops.

Haha, that guy really compared his own riding as equal to Vince Friese.. tell me you've never ridden a motorcycle without telling me you've never ridden a motorcycle..

cherry picking implies there is a rider in a skill level class lower than he should be.

this is pros, cant cherry pick the top class. and while craig was a rookie long ago, he's been out with so many injuries he has less time on the bike than most. and if nichols and Jet were out there crowding him no one would be saying anything. cant help if his competition crashed out

Vince is out there earning his paycheck. If other riders don't want to pass him all they have to do is start in front of him.

The guy is racing for a living, a podium place is 1000 bucks more then a fourth, this without bonus money. If he could hold him off for two laps he had a better payday.

It is not Vince's job to make sure Christian Craig is OK with his lines. The AMA rulebook in fact once said something to the effect of, "The rider in front sets the pace and has the prerogative of line choice." I don't know if that's still in there, but there is a long-honored motocross tradition and convention of the guy in front choosing his lines. If the guy in front wants to slow down to purposefully block an opponent, that's racing. Ask Jeff Ward and Broc Glover about blocking in Supercross, if you want.
Now, to your point of SX being dangerous, of course I do not condone ramming or intentional rough riding. Vince has done plenty of that, and I do not give him a pass. In the incident above, however, he had every right to block CC. Craig should have known who he was dealing with and not gone to the outside of a berm behind Sir Bloxalot.

Most Supercross fans wouldn't mind if they got rid of the racing part, and just held a moto demo derby.

If it wants to remain a second (third?)-tier sport, then it should stick with the hockey-on-bikes approach.

I usually find myself agreeing with the reasonable majority on here but I guess I just don't on this one. If he rode like this in the early to mid 90's arenacross series he would have had about 10 guys line him out in the pits long before it ever got this far. It's literally a long running joke at this point. But maybe that's the problem, no one has to worry about getting their ass kicked any more.
