I had X-rays of my femur done today. I got the ok to “Trust” the leg and start trying to walk without crutches or the cane. “The femur looks good, start trying to normalize it. That’s how he put it lol, The x-ray on the right was 9-3-21. Two weeks after the last surgery. The one on the left was from today 1-12-22, 4-1/2 months from the last surgery. The gaps are almost filled in and the hardware is solid. It’s been over a year since I’ve put all my weight on it. Time to learn to walk again. Cool 💪

Nice man!! I remember those x-rays after the first time you had it done , and I almost through my keyboard through the screen in disgust! I hope you sue the shit out of the idiot that did that. But on a positive note......that looks much , much better. The way it should have been done in the first place!

Is walking in a pool an option? When I broke my foot in half in 07 my first steps on it was in our swimming pool. It allowed me to go through the proper form without all the pressure.

That’s actually a good idea. Resistance training.

Yes I've done that before. I have a couple heated commercial pools they let me poach. I'll start doing that again now that I have the ok to start pushing. I have a jacuuzi in my backyard. I sit in that thing every night and stretch and do semi weightless squats and kick my legs like I'm swimming, I only heat it to 99 or 100 degrees so I can stay in there awhile without passing out. Jacuzzi late at night = good nights sleep. Cool

Well, your recovery may have not been speedy but, at least it’s heading in the right direction. That’s one thing I really miss. We had s pool when I lived in California (Carson).
Forget about it here in the PNW. All it does is rain in this damn state.

Update, getting stronger everyday. I was able to get the camper back on my truck, hook up and load the trailer full of camping gear, firewood etc. Did a fair amount of physical work. Then we did a three night camping trip in Ocotillo Wells. Drove all over the place in the (new to me) 2017 TRD Tacoma I picked up. We had perfect weather, watched SX outside Saturday night, had killer food, hung out with the grandkids and camp crew. It was our first desert trip in 2 years. The truck worked better than I expected, and I even pulled a couple wheelies on a borrowed quad. All in all had the best most normal weekend in a long time. I’m still limping and pretty wobbly but holy fuck it felt good to get back to the desert. Thought I’d share some good news. Thanks again for all your guys comments and support this last year. I owe every one of you a cold beer ! Here’s a couple pics from the weekend.

You bounce back in style, Sumdood! Desert camping looks truly amazing to someone that’s never experienced it. We’re all glad you’re back at it.

Wow looks like a GREAT time and you really broke in the new truck! Woohoo

Where is the Camper, you load and unload it in the Dez?
And how did you watch SX when some people have trouble in their house? Cheerful

Congratulations! 👍

The camper was sitting in my backyard, before all this I had it off to get the truck serviced. Putting it back on the truck requires multiple trips under it (It has "Stable Load" spacers that go between the main spring stack and overload spring, the truck bounces over a dime without the camper if I don't disengage them. To put them back I have to raised it up with the airbags, crawl underneath and beat the 4 spacers in between the springs, get them lined up and push a pin through to hold them, it's a pita) Both the truck and trailer fit on the side of my house, it's a tight squeeze but they fit.

SX ? No idea how they did it I'm out of that loop.Laughing I know it went through a phone which talked to the tv somehow, there were a couple glitches but not too bad.

I've got a about 3-4" on either side when it goes through the gate. Profeshional125 could do it in his sleep Laughing

These are the spacers, they make a huge difference with the camper on the truck.

So glad to hear that you got a trip in this winter. One of these days, we'll have to meet up in Ocotillo.

I must, however, comment on the glaring error about Profeshional 125. He could fit the truck through the gate while having sex with his girlfriend and her mom, not while asleep.

Laughing I stand corrected. I'll add with one hand on the steering wheel and the other hand holding his phone telling us all about Grinning Go Pro Go !

So I was cleaning out the garage this weekend, I had my dual sport leaning on the kickstand in the driveway. I climbed on it and was standing on the pegs, leaning to left so it wouldn't tip over and kind of feeling out the leg when Mrs. sumdood came around the corner, safe to say she didn't share my enthusiasm of me being able to get on the bike...
"What are you doing" ? "what if it tipped over" ? "I was leaning to the left" "SO" ! "What if you tipped over" ? ....yeah yeah yeah......
Fuck I can't wait to ride... Try to enjoy each day, and ride every chance you get ! Carry on.

After my little accident last year, I got bored one day and started cleaning up the bike to see if I could get it to start. One of my sons friends was over and started it for me. I took it down the road on that cold December day. Wife was not happy. But I felt the best I had in almost 4 months.

Nice!!! Way to go man. Don't rush things to quick. You know yourself better than anyone else , just don't rush it. I've made that mistake before , and the set back was infuriating. Glad to see you are mobile and getting the itch for 2 wheels. I'm in the same boat , but mine was a broken right hand with tendon and ligament damage. It'll be 3 years off the bike this June. I'm planning on a practice day at the end of March / April.
