I probably wouldn't say that I dislike him, despite what my comment says, I just don't LOVE him like everyone else seems to. My comments intention was just to point out that there are multiple different reasons to dislike him.

I think everyone thinks it's good that some guys are actually starting to show their personalities instead of being super professional and acting like robots all the time, but just because someone has a personality doesn't automatically mean you should like them. I see people pointing out all the time that people will complain that the riders don't have a personality and then when someone has a personality they complain because they don't like them, but that's how it should be. Generally the stronger someone's personality is, the stronger your feelings about them as a person will be. People also talk about him bringing in fans from outside the industry, but I'm not really seeing that. Seems to me like the fans he's bringing in are teenage girls who come from families that ride, but aren't really that interested in it themselves.

As for him not being able to help who his fans are, I'd disagree on that. This is the fanbase he has cultivated and encouraged. I know this sounds like a really whiney and stupid complaint but I find the whole thing with the donuts extremely lame and overplayed. Even when he first pulled them out at Monster Cup I thought that was pretty cringe but then it was everywhere, people calling him donut boy and all. I figured he was probably sick of it and regretted doing that but he encouraged it and man it's just like, lame. That's really the only way I can describe it. Never found it funny in the first place and the joke has been ongoing for over 2 years. It's gotten to the point where I'm not even sure you'd call it a joke anymore, donuts are almost a part of his identity, or at least the one he chooses to publicly display. Not he shouldn't be allowed to be that attached to donuts or anything, just more that I wish people would stop talking about it. I hate to sound like a massive square that hates people having fun, and I'm certainly not trying to stop or discourage anyone from having fun, I'm just trying to articulate why I find his fans annoying. Also, he's inescapable. The media won't stop talking about him and they won't stop talking about him on the broadcasts, and people will say "wells he's just being the best marketer he can and it's making him money so you shouldn't complain" but I think it's stupid that you shouldn't complain about something someone does if it makes them money, ethical or not. I'd probably like him a whole lot more if he wasn't always in my face. I'm tired of seeing him everywhere in the American motosphere. Man I really wish I wasn't doing this over text so I didn't sound like such an ass lol.

As for the drama that he causes, that was in reference to the Justin Cooper dog thing at the end of 2020 nationals, and then the Michael Mosiman thing earlier this year in Supercross. It's not the amount that he causes that I have an issue with, it's the fact that it's so unneeded and stupid. The deal with Justin Cooper was so incredibly dumb, he was obviously just looking to cause drama but I don't get why he would do it in such a hypocritical way. It was just so stupid and unnecessary. As for the Mosiman drama, that was just him being an asshole in my opinion. He t-bones him in the main, Mosiman gets him back with a much cleaner pass in a heat race, drama should just end there and he should be happy he got off light. But then a few weeks later he feels the need to call him out and create all this drama over something that happens like 20 times a race? In my opinion it looked like Mosiman had no intention of t-boning him, just looked like he tried to pass him back, realised there wasn't any room and then backed out of the challenge. Which happens all the damn time in Supercross. He could've t-boned him if he wanted to.

Anyway I don't just wanna sit here and shit all over the guy, he seems like a good guy on a personal level and someone I'd like to be friends with. I'm just not a huge fan of the public persona he decides to display. And like I said at the start of my comment, I don't dislike him nor like him. And as an Aussie I've tried really hard to make myself like him, and also since he's so popular I try to like him because it's not fun being in the minority.

Also, yes I'm aware that it's hypocritical to complain about him being a drama queen and then writing 5 paragraphs on what I think of him as a person.
The doughnuts joke is it's now stale lameness.

Well written personal perspective essay.

I'd say you are/were doing year 12 and looking for an English A.

Before you call out saying that the statement above is false. Might want to watch the interview with Lucas Mirtl who is many of the riders manager, including Jett. Discuss the money situation around the Lawrence family
where is the interview

Carson Brown is doing the West for AEO KTM. Kid rules. His Instagram page is gold. The only bummer is before he got this ride was he was going to do some rounds on a 125 and now that's done.

Yeah, I was looking forward to the 2 stroke. Still have Stankdog to cheer for in both classes.

How much fun does he look like he has on the daily? Ripping prototype pit bikes, 85's, new 2-strokes, old 2-strokes, etc. Anything with a motor.

As long as it has two wheels, he's happy and that's what it's really all about. Living life and having fun.

I wonder if he is doing the full season (full SX East, 250MX), I read that he was only doing select rounds of SX. Always hard to know with Hsu, sometimes announces plans then is nowhere to be seen at gate drop.

I honestly couldn't tell you, but it's cool that he's giving it a shot.

Agreed. It’s kinda hard not to like Jett to begin with. I certainly don’t understand this kind of comment.
Think, Mike Alessi & ‘believe the hype’.
People liked to hate on him when he didn’t deliver. Even fellow riders I recall were giving him a hard time.

Similarly, Jett has been over-hyped IMO. In SX anyway..
sure, he won outdoors.
Sure, he will succeed in SX ..

But the hype in his early SX seasons hasn’t yet been justified.. similar to Alessi.
Yes, he’s a likeable kid, a fan favourite, & yes he will very likely be a success in SX, but until then, please let’s forget the hype..

Jett already has a national title to his name.

How many titles does Alessi have again? None.

The fact that you needed to add "in SX anyway..." just proves you're trying to find an excuse.

You're either overhyped or you're not.

Agree. Love how people forgot the fact that Jett literally started riding supercross in 2019 for the first time. Imagine just looking for a reason to hate on a successful 18 year old.

I have a official entry list. Should I post it here. Or make a new post. I think this post is to all over the place for some1 who wants to click and see who is actually where.
Also the list has pretty much the whole pro circuit team in it so they will take riders out.
