Vet racing is huge these days and I think it's fantastic! Maybe one day the true amateur vets could have a week long Loretta's style event that isn't littered with former pros. There's enough of us these days to make that a big event.

You already have Loretta's.....go after it and race one or more of the multiple vet classes. Several do not allow anyone that has ever scored a pro point so you will be safe.

Its great to see the conversation about Vet Races. At MXVETS we have 5 races in the series, Dutch Sport in Michigan, Walnut Ill, Red Bud, Dirty Old Blasters at Aztalan in Wis, and Byron ILL. The races started in 1992. Dirty Old Blasters will be celebrating 30 years in 2022.

Anyway, there were 36 riders in the +60 class, 15 in plus 65. Biggest class of the day was 50 B. The races are set up to have practice on Friday, race Saturday. All events have fully staffed medical units, complete compliment of flaggers, and professional run program. We can't replace the spectacle of racing Glen Helen, that is in November anyway, but the series offers great events throughout the summer.

Having a 20 year class size for bikes is dumb IMO.. In the UK, thats 3 classes, Twin Shock, Evo and Super Evo.

There needs to be some thought put into where you sit old guys on new bikes, racing new guys on Old bikes.

I Did rewind in 2019, and rode 3 classes on an 89 KX500, pretty sure none of them were rider age split. , just A, B and C.

Where the problem comes is with guys only wanting to race classes they can win, instead of finishing mid pack in the class they really ought to be racing, which is why were in the UK, we have 40+ and 50+ and no split for ability. which means you get to line up and race former Pro's instead of saying ' i won the spode class, for the 5th year running' .

Yes! I did the whole Racer X series last year and this year and it's the most fun racing I've ever done. Big gates, plenty of battling and a good time in the pits with smiles as far as I could see.
I didn't do any other races, state series or similar, since the gates are usually 4-5 A riders and slow old me in my age class and it's a LOT of waiting around.
The Racer X series (with the exception for RedBud) is usually over by 2-3pm on the Saturday and since the races are between a 5-8 hours drive away I get the chance to ride somewhere else on Sunday before heading home.
I can not stress enough the amount of fun that can be had at this series.

I’ve raced both, and Vet Fest is 10x the event. Best run race I’ve ever done.
Same here... Raced GH and Red Bud. Racer X Series way better.

I saw the Racer X vet series schedule round 2 at sunset ridge is the same day as Millville. Millville practice on 14th race 15th,17th natL on 16th. I,LL miss rnd 2. Red Bud is the same day as a double header points race. Tough call I can hopefully make some cash in 40A don’t want to miss the 125 or 50+ class. You need a certain amount of points races to b eligible for the bike give aways. Millville has bike give aways also. Round 3 works at aztalan. Round 4 oct 1 is too late in the season. Anyone else racing a 125 in the vet classes ?

Local renegade track used to do a split program, morning having all the 30+ vet classes and the mini classes. It was great. I was in my early 20’s, and all my riding buddies were mid 30’s. I’d race 30+ with them (literally the entire gate were friends and talked me into it. I wasn’t trying to be a douche). I loved riding with those guys. No pressure, just a lot of yelling and banging in corners, and by noonish, we’d be drinking beer watching the fast locals start their program. By the time I turned 30, the track went ama and to a straight program. Was a bit of a bummer sitting around all day, and switched to hare scrambles. Vet racing, if done right is the best. Think I’m going to hit Redbud vet fest next year (hold the rear naked chokes)
Rear naked chokes FTW!

We apologize for the conflict between Sunset and the Millville national, it was brought up in the planning stage, but the promoter only had that date available, and opted to keep it.

We are hoping that it doesn't pull to many from Sunset. Its a hard decision if you are chasing vet points, as if you miss one race you are kind of out of it.

The final at Byron is still TBD for a date.

Millville is back on the Racer X Vet Series. June 23  it’s called Millville senior National. Should be a practice on the 22nd

also.

The 2023 Vet Series is changing a bit.  We are adding Millville this year. We did have it in 2006 to 2008. The vet race will be on a Friday, with some morning practice. This is a Super Series Weekend, so there will be practice all day Saturday, and a District 23 race on Sunday that will have all the MXVET classes. Great facility....big hills.

We are also bringing back Byron IL. This race will be held injunction with a big vintage weekend.

Go to MXVETS.COM for more info.

Sounds Great that’s a lot of riding. Fri practice & race. Practice sat & race Sunday. Any chance if a +45 125 class being added this yr. In 2010 I think a last min +35 125 class was added in Wi.  They had 38 on the gate, mostly + 40 riders. A bonus for the top 125 rider in 50,55 would get more 125,s on the gate.  Bark River donates a couple bikes 4 the Millville super series 1 being a 450. I would think they would donate- sponsor the Vet series since it’s 5 rounds in 4 states. The biggest Vet series in the country. Along with DeCal etc.

I checked the DOB in Wisconsin. Looks like they had 11 riders in the 125.  This was something they decided to add.  We did offer a 2 two stroke class at Red Bud with 27 entries. I believe that if a 125 class was offered, it should be 40+ or 50+. Need to keep the "kids" out.

BTW, on the "Friday" Millville event. This was decided on after a lot of thought and negotiation.  We always want to run Saturday, but the Friday Vet race ties in with a strong regional race that kind of carries the ball. We will evaluate for 2024.

John Martin wanted to add in Mt Martin, dig the whoops 10ft deep, and add in a rocky hare scrambles section.  We negotiated that part out.

Are they giving out better series awards ? My buddy won his class last year and received a #1 sticker number plate.  Seems kinda crazy to drive all over the damn place and receive that.

Yeah + 50 probably the best for the 125 class. I don’t rember the yr DOB had the big # but no one wanted a 125 at the time, so I was shocked by the #. Red Bud 2-st class is mostly young riders. On yt a rider jumped Larocco,s leap the 1st lap . He,s a Profeshenal. Haha  Anyway I just want to race the series just for fun. I might race 250c to get used to the Big Vet gates.

Awards,  you are correct on the "stickers"  I also won my class and received the "stickers"  I thought it was one of the coolest awards I have ever won.  A complete set of graphics with my name and position.  Each to their own.

Racer X Vet series added 2 classes.  60 B and 55 B .  Great news 55 + is mostly A riders so 55 b should be the 2nd biggest class . 50B is the biggest.  Rnd 1 may 17 practice 18 race Sunset Ridge in Walnut ,IL.  Easy  to get to rt off i39 . Millville rnd 2 it’s different than the fri, sat rnds. Practice sat, race June 23 same weekend as the super series. Hopefully the gates get fuller.  All the races hv riders from various states & Canada.  But Red Bud is ridiculous but Super cool with a ton of states . Shocking high # from Tx.  It would be fun racing guys from all over. I had more injections at the hospital today , pretty intense nerve pain.

IMG 9217Yeah do it man , you’re gonna take a vacation this yr I hope.  Trucking rates r cheap to ship  your bike. Bring some Cal. Bros  & hv fun.  I think it would b fun racing guys from all ovr.  I just want to enjoy the track , drop a tooth so my bike is easier to ride & faster. A 16-13for 13 points for me on a 125 I think would be great of 40 riders. In 55+ David Hand from Ohio went 1-1.  He raced red Bud in 1982 on a 125 & got 17th, 83 on a Husky 250. Then 500 natls 10th @ Troy a lot of 12-15th.  Raced the 6 flags natl. 92 11th on a 250 at Troy.  A lot of 500 races I,m sure he can ride a tooth pick on wheels.  He not the only guy to score points @ a national.  50A a rider from Christmas,Mi. Way up in the ne of the upper peninsula of Mi. Went 2-2, so it’s crazy who is Really fast.  I just want score a few points it’s a 5 race series. One track didn’t say there in this yr.  I wish MC moto park aka mini red Bud  in N. IL. Near Iowa & Wi. Super loam with Awesome layout. The owned is pals with the Richy family of red Bud. He got some tips of track layout etc. see pic

The 2-st class or 125 class is only 3 of the 5 rnds don’t know why.  Millville & Aztalan I think it’s 35+ 125 & red Bud 250 2-st allowed . Maybe any size 2-st maybe because thd 300,s r popular.  Red Bud forcast 34 for a high wed, 38 Thursday.  Warmer than here tho a weak winter is trying to hold on.  Back injections at the hospital where intense mon.  I got 2 more rnds 1 is for neck. I hope 55 + is expert -cash paying since there’s a 55B now. 50A should pay cash.

As you can see from the classes offered, we added a 55B and 60B and made the Warrior an official class.  The two stroke and 125 class is pretty much directed by the track.  Also, the tracks are designating the award structure.  Trophy or cash is their call. not something we want to get involved with.

I'm a d17 OG then lived in minnesota for 3-4 years racing the millville super series with the boys. Sounds like profeshenal125 knows all about the d17 gulag. I might be able to find somebody to let me ride their bike just fly out with gear whew. Idk if ya'll know a mister knowa picard out of wisconsin but he got a kawi 450 4 sales hopefully it don't sell so I can fly out with my suspenders & let er eat. Surry for the poor english, Profeshenal got me all twisted up. hopefuly see motomike894 at the race, he's a unit.
