Anyone else see this on IG?

Anyone got an update on the guy who got hit by Mike?

Looked like a gnarly one. Hoping for good news.

What did you want him to do? Also , why was that dude going super slow , in the middle of the track during a race?
I hope that dude is ok. But God damn , you gotta get out of the way if someone is coming up on you in mach 5.

He didn’t leave until others started assisting the downed rider. What is Mike supposed to do? He’s a rider not an EMT. Idiot.

Since you seem dissatisfied with how he handled the situation, what would you have like to have seen Mike Alessi do here? Stop on-track with other people still riding at pace, and offer condolences to the guy who just crossed lines while looking off-track with his hand off the bike and then caused the both of them to have a horrific wreck?

I think Mike’s only value to add to the situation would be potentially using his bike as a barricade, but that would put himself in harms way. IMO him leaving the scene while the riding/racing continuing is a non issue here.

I wonder what practice that was? If you are on track with pros maybe keep your head on strait.

It was a race. They threw a C class on the second gate of the A class is what I’ve heard.

Both of them are fine.

I heard (2nd hand) that the guy rolling was from the prior moto, supposedly 45 Novice? This may or may not be accurate. Either way, pros came around quick and the guy rolling crossed in front of Mike.

0% Mike's fault. Mike also isn't an EMT so everyone getting out the pitchforks on the socials can fuck right off. If I were him I would have been pissed at first... Then concerned after the race. Mike did check on the guy later.

Well I will say this, no wonder why Glen Helen doesn't have a national. If you can even let the previous race finish prior to starting the A class, you may want to educate the track crew.

Hope both riders are unharmed.

Mike gets a lot of smack, but I've met him numerous times and he's one of the nicest guys out there.

It looked like Alessi came from the right side of the track all the way to the left where that guy was.

I will just reiterate that I only heard that 2nd hand. Supposedly folks were also yelling at the slow guy to exit as well.

Starts are done this way very commonly for all local racing, but I 100% agree that extra precaution/waiting should take place prior to pro motos. This situation also has nothing to do with how the pro nationals are ran.

I heard the guy rolled right to left... Perhaps both happened at the same time? Wouldn't surprise me since Alessi was likely looking for a line to get by.

Either way it's just an unfortunate accident.

Unrelated to this, but did you hear about a Sierra Gang member dying on Friday during Vet World practice?

You are an idiot.
Last weekend when I got freaking taken out in practice, after practice, Mike stopped at the Med cart to see how I was doing and it wasn't even his fault. Even, the guy (ex pro himself) who took me out found me an apologized and it wasn't his fault either. I got squirrelly in a roller section and drifted left and he hit me. No one's fault, shit happens.
Pro's give more shits about amateurs on the track then given credit for.

Ugh, hate to hear this.

How many riders have died at Glen Helen over the past 30 years? Offhand, I can think of at least 7-8, probably a few more.

Are their flaggers on that jump? Seems like after the incident riders are coming along full tilt. Shit like this sucks. If that 2nd guy was from a previous race, seems like waiting 20 more secs to drop the gate for the pros would have saved a lot of headache.

What does Glen Helen have against safety? Minis with pros on practice days. C class with pros at “vet national”? Use some common sense, no wonder Davey wants nothing to do with working with Budd

First gate was 30 plus pros racing fo big $ 2nd gate was the 125 50 plus OPEN so you had a couple fast 125 guys and you had some guys that were not so fast.
The guy slowed down over the table finish, alessi couldnt see he drastically slowed down. Mike also was beat up,and sore but came from 5th to,first on the staggered restart
The older guy got taken away with temporary paralysis, I was told he got feeling and movement back.
The turnout was pretty huge, they were trying to get the races done a little quicker but each race shoulda hate their own motos. Which they did get for 2nd motos.

The Pros were on the first gate.

That dude was looking sideways and it also appears that he was waving to someone on the stands. Plain studity. Not Mike's fault.

I'm reading in various places that the other rider may not be ok? Guess we will hear more soon enough. Also heard someone lost their life at Elsinore today as well. Crazy day in a tough sport.
