Top 10 in that company as an outsider is impressive.
With the next track coming up, I think he can improve his results a little bit. The soil is more like what he's used too, and he's got a little bit of experience with the track with MXdN.

Again, he just needs a better start and be up front with the lead group. Starting on a metal grate is different. He'll be practicing starts on Wednesday.

Looking forward to it.

He has been lucky that he got 3 goes at the same track, which helped no end, but he has been solid.

After today , 114 will be wondering if they need to run a 450 to draw some better sponsors.

Whatever he does, he needs to get out of Canada.

HRC can run a third bike, but I heard a rumor that he was talking with a British team to do MX1 British Nationals and European MXGP races. Dunno what team doesn't even know if my source is legit.

What do you estimate he makes up in Canada? The amount of winning he does has to make it decent.

I would say that he makes 100k+ with the bonuses and championship included. Maybe a little less with the series not going out west the last 2 years because of the restrictions. The top guys here are pretty well compensated for what it is.

It's not US money, but it's easy to see why it's difficult for them to branch out to the US or other series.

They make a comfortable living.

Wow. Was Expecting more. Ross Pederson in 1985 was making $500,000.00. Here we are 36 years later. Making $100K. Oh well. Impressed with this Dylan Wright. Now that Facciotti retired, Dylan picks up where he left off. Honda chooses good riders. Good luck DW….

I think I heard on pulp that Phil made 300K the year he won the Canadian Supercross championship.

He won the Triple Crown Championship Title which was 100k. So between his salary, bonuses, personal sponsors, etc. and the series bonus, I could see that being true.

Last year the Triple Crown Championship Title was 25k because of the restrictions. Since the series didn't go west Rockstar Energy felt they weren't getting the same exposure, so they cut back the prizes for the 450 and 250 class. The year Phil won I think the 250 class paid 25k and last year that was 10k.

I think this year there wasn't anything at all since Rockstar Energy pulled out completely.

Cole Thompson won the 100k the first year.
Phil Nicoletti won the 100k the 2nd year.
Dylan Wright won last year and got 25k instead of 100k.

This story is as good as Elzinga. Let's not get unrealistic and expect a whole lot better than 9th overall. We are getting into some pretty big names, low lap times and big salaries in the top 5-8. Would be delighted to eat my words in a few days by the way. Go 109.

Maybe the 109 can help the 243 and earn some gratitude from Honda.

The exposure to the elite is really helping Dylan level up.

He needs to be on a Euro Team.

There is only 1 UK Team, that runs the full series.

He turned up late in the day, but has done enough to make himself a nuisance LOL.

Lots of bums, not too many seats.

Who decides to hang it up at the end of the year will make a difference.

From Racer X:

Canadian wild-card Dylan Wright continued to create interest in MXGP. There wasn’t a great deal of expectation for the arrival of the double Canadian champ for one of MXGP’s most limited circuits, but he finished 15th overall on Wednesday and was even more of a presence on Sunday. Wright, 24, who is pitting out of the 114 Motorsports Honda crew (HRC’s unofficial feeder team) with a bike he’d left in Europe after the Motocross of Nations rode to ninth in his third attempt at Arco. “The track is not something I’m really used to…but the view is great and the area is amazing!” he smiled. “I’ve slowly been getting more comfortable, and the results have been getting better as I started to find more settings on the bike that work better here in Europe. Everything’s different: tracks, lines riders and not everything from back home works out here.” Wright will at least have knowledge of the next track at Mantova. “It’s also a bit more what I’m used to from back home,” he said. “I ride a lot of that sandy stuff with a hard base. I’m looking forward to it. I just need some better starts to see if I can battle up there with the big dogs.”

Wright will be on Canadian soil again in 2022 but his first taste of MXGP has whet the appetite. “I’d consider it,” he replied when asked about a Grand Prix move. “I’m still under contract in Canada next year so it would be something to talk about before we could even think about a switch. There would have to be some moving parts to come my way to make it happen. In the future it is something I’d like to do and that I’m interested in doing. It’s been a dream for me as a kid to come and race it [Grand Prix] so now I’ve done it, I’ve hopefully proved that my speed is there to battle with the guys, so we’ll see if the phone rings.”

That would be the Thorpe Honda but I dunno if they’ve got the budget to do GP’s.

Very impressed with Wrights’ quick progression . The top ten are some heavy hitters and to be nipping at their heels so soon says a lot about him . Hope he can get a full time GP ride , he has earned that IMO .

He was first shown on the live timing in 20th, then 11th the following lap. Fell back a couple spots down to 13th and then I believe he had a tip over as he lost 20+ second in a sector and fell back to 14th.

Managed to pass his way back into 13th with just over 1 minute +2 laps to go. He was around 11 seconds back of Bogers at one point and he managed to close that down to 1.4 seconds at the finish.

He had the 7th fastest lap of the race with a 1:59.049.

Edit: Dylan did have a tip over in the moto. He also had trouble getting around Olsen abd Bogers at the mid-point of the race.

He has the speed to be battling in the top 10, just needs another good start.

3 more motos to go.

Van Donnick was the only pass Dylan made after the first lap chaos (which included benefitting from the Jacobi pileup and later Seewer/Herlings). Without the mistake, he would've probably been 9th-11th.

First appeared on the live timing screen in 32nd. Crossed the line in 24th after the first lap.

Worked his way up to 14th in moto 2.

13-14 for 12th.

Had the 9th fastest lap of the race with a 2:00.677.

Not his best day, but I think he's got more left in the tank. Hopefully he gets better starts on Wednesday because the field is deep, but his lap times are there with the top 10 guys.

I think this is great experience for him to get used to GP's and feel for racing and living there.

Talk about getting out of your comfort zone, much respect to our Canadian champ!

Best of luck at the next race!!!

Great results for the Canadian rider, 12th is a solid result. Not the easiest track to pass on. That start is so unfair, if Dylan could qualify in the top 10 he would be right up there.. I'm pretty sure he doesn't have any of his regular crew with him to help tune his bike like back home, so hats off to Dylan. Good luck next round. I am sure some of the Euro teams have his name on the shortlist for 2022. He can always get a ride back home if he stayed overseas for a couple of years Smile

He's over there alone, so he's got a mechanic from the 114 Team for those rounds. The mechanic is French and Dylan speaks the language so that helps.

Regardless, he's done well. It's not easy to jump into a new series and be competitive like he's been.

Looking forward to Wednesday.

*Side Note: Having the final race of the series on a Wednesday is pretty stupid, IMO.
