Watched it on HBO Max.
Never read the book, I saw the 84 Lynch movie once. Watched it with subtitles on which helped. Wife tapped out after about 20 minutes, starts slow. I thought it was pretty good and I could follow the story alot better than the original movie. If you knew the book it's probably really good.

Watched Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986) on Peacock over the weekend. That is a crazy movie. It was produced by Cannon Films, if you are familiar with Cannon you know what I'm talking about (Delta Force, Masters of the Universe). It's got pretty much nothing to do with the original movie and is a very very different tone as well. I remember putting this movie on as a kid and it was maybe the only movie I turned off because I was scared after the first sequence, probably not appropriate for an 8 year old.

I'm an Uncharted fan, and in my opinion they did a really poor job casting the roles. Especially Wahlberg as Sully.
big fan here as well, wasn't excited about Holland as Drake but Wahlberg as Sully? i just don't know. it's obviously when they are younger. i'll give it a rent for sure.

the game series was outstanding.

Turning the series into a movie has a lot of potential, but I personally think it'll just turn out to be an average action film.

I'm not a big Wahlberg fan.

I think the actors that voice the characters in the game could easily have pulled it off. The problem with that is they're not big name actors. The studio obviously need big names in order to draw enough attention for them to turn a profit.

Might have been better off as an independent film.

In semi-related news, Naughty Dog studio is working on a new IP for the PS5. Hopefully it'll be just as good as the Uncharted series. Going to be very difficult to top that.

Mr. Inbetween is on HBO. (at least in Finland)

My favourite show in years.

If you liked Mike Ehrmantraut in Breaking Bad, you'll probably like this show,

Any love for the new Curb Your Enthusiasm season 11 opener? I thought it was up to standard with some decent laughs throughout. Love me some Larry.

I watched the first one and it was funny as usual. I missed a season or 2 but the episode years ago about the chinese takeout was one of the funniest shows ever.

my favorite is the episode about Larry needs a box-cutter so he can get into the plastic packaging on a box. so at the end of the episode he finally gets one but is on his way home and is in need of a box-cutter to cut a seat-belt or something. so he gets into the bag to get his cutter out and its encased in plastic packaging. lmao.

amazing

Episode 2 of the new Succession series just watched, man this is sooo good, how the writer, Jesse Armstrong, maintains this level of quality is astonishing.

This was my "review" two pages ago, it was alright I guess:

"Midnight Mass on Netflix, vampirey hocum all tied together with a religious thread, where nobody mentions the word vampire. Very slow burn, where everyone has issues going on. Meh."

I'd have to agree . I have 3 episodes left. It is terribly slow moving but now I want to see what happens so I'll finish it .

So I just finished the new Dune. Dune is easily one of my favorite book series of all times. I have been so psyched about this being made for years.

I'll be the first to admit I am an annoying "book was better" movie and tv critic, but my goodness, this movie sucked. It wasn't even really the divergences from the original book though. I feel like the tone was all wrong, they glossed over so many good characters and just kept harping on symbolism that they never capitalized on.

I'm also annoyed at how lame they made Jessica when she's super badass in the book. I've got a long list of things I didn't like about it, but I'm just stopping here.

The Boys on Amazon has been pretty good. I'm just getting into season 2.

Do your subtitles also say things like, girl laughing, engine noises, dramatic music? It's getting on my tits.

Of course I know that, I'm not adverse to watching foreign films and I prefer to watch them with subtitles, not closed caption which is aimed at hard of hearing or deaf viewers. The only reason I ask is you can usually turn the description elements off and just have subtitles. You do realise there is a difference right?

SEAL Team.

Season 5 started a few weeks ago. The last 4 episodes aired on CBS and the show has now made the move to Paramount+ exclusively.

To my surprise, Paramount+ is available up here for like $6 a month. I'll probably wait until the remaining episodes air and then subscribe for 1 month.

Not big on streaming services, but I think it'll help make the show be more authentic since they'll be able to use curse words and probably be more graphic.

I haven't checked what else is on there, but I'm assuming by your comment that there isn't much?

I would guess Yellowstone is on it.

Dexter: New Blood

I just finished watching the first episode of the new series Dexter: New Blood and it looks like it's going to be great. I haven't seen the original series, but Michael C. Hall reprises his role as Dexter Morgan.

Also, for you Yellowstone fans, there's a prequel series (10 episodes) coming out December 19th on Paramount+ titled 1883.

Real life married couple Tim McGraw and Faith Hill will play James Dutton and Margaret Dutton. Actor Sam Elliott will play a character named Shea Brennan.

The story follows the Dutton family as they embark on a journey west through the Great Plains toward the last bastion of untamed America. It is a stark retelling of Western expansion, and an intense study of one family fleeing poverty to seek a better future in America’s promised land — Montana.

Quote from Taylor Sheridan the creator of Yellowstone.

"What we've done with Yellowstone is so rare to do. I was always fascinated when I came up with the story for Yellowstone about how do we make it bigger, and how do we expand it. This new show explores different era's of that 130 year Legacy. What an opportunity to witness the first Dutton's to come to Montana and we see them when they were homesteaders.

When we say the wild west, what that really means is a west beyond the reach of the rule of law. It really is the beginning of an empire before it was an empire."

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

This is the new Marvel movie on Disney Plus. I’d give it a solid B+ Maybe even an A compared to 2021 movies.

Definitely worth watching if you enjoy the Fantasy genres. Family loved it!
