What a fantastic outdoor series this year. It feels like the nationals have rebounded well. Is it time to adopt new rules? Similar to F1 with fastest lap of the moto gets a bonus point?

IMO a The beat possible Change to make the racing Better would be to Cut the moto's from 30+2 to 25+2
And fill that 10 minutes lost with two 6 round 125 points series, with actual 125's and no age limits, so ex pro's can race it if they want.

I think The 5 less minutes would increase the racing as far as more race craft coming into play, instead of The Ironman working his way to the lead in the last 5 minutes.
Yes being Fit is a part if it no doubt and still would be, but I think it's lop sided right now on just how big of a part of it.
I'm sure others opinions may differ?

Or just add 125's and leave the races at 30

If it was a fantastic series why change anything? I don’t understand today why people have to always try and change stuff.. The series is fine the way it is, leave it alone.

Neither would 125s. 125s and two strokes are more "core" than anything else, so I don't see how that will bring new eyes.

I still think DV was right about how if we want to grow the sport, we should really be putting the races free on Youtube. PBR was successful with it.

Ah yes a great year of racing where everything went well. Let’s change it now.

Just add a permanent feeder "halftime" series. And show the highlights on TV, so sponsor and racers have a reason to support it.

2 strokes would be great, but that horse has been beat too many times.

Just something similar to EMX in MXGP with age and experience restrictions. Those classes are full of future talent getting prime racing exposure.

Too much focus on LL as a 1 time race per year to determine who will be the next "superstar".

Plenty of downtime between moto's with commercials and filler segments, let's see some youth class racing highlights instead of another repeat Monster 30 second commercial.

The only thing I can think is that the sport needs to bail on trying to fit into a TV time slot. Just go with an online streaming subscription only. Keep the motos the same length, but add some extra time between moto 1 and moto 2 and then have some form of amateur racing (125s, 250F limited, whatever). Plus some time to work on the track.

I know that camera crew and production crew working day length is an issue. Maybe scrap showing qualifying broadcast then?

I agree that it was a great series, I just feel more people would battle for wins if the races were shorter.
Rather the then the same guys that could win a marathon on foot wins 🏆

If you think Joe Blow off the street cares if it’s a 10 minute moto vs 40 minute Moto or if 2 strokes are racing you’re pretty far out there. That won’t decide any new fan interest. New fans won’t watch because because
A.) it’s not free and easily available to watch. Even real fans have issues trying to watch
B.) to most people this is just a hobby. It’s easy to go fast, you just twist that rubber thing by your hand!
C.) Joe blow isn’t going to watch it on tv then go directly to the dealership and spend $10k just to see if he likes it.

Alligator pits, bus jumps, and a loop de loops for the win!

Mx will eventually go away. It’s on life support. Sx will take over more than it already does.

How would it bring more fans? Would love to hear the logic you have.

The “mx is dieing” narrative is pretty well debunked.

I think Joe bloe would be more likely to watch short races in anything than 40 minute moto's, 40 minute motos to all but the the diehards would be like watching golf
My thought was that both shorter moto's and 125 are both more exciting. At least I believe that

I get that. I totally agree to an extent. My point was shortening the motos won’t get new viewers. People don’t look at motocross and say “that’s too long and boring I’ll watch something else.” They either haven’t even heard of it or can’t even access it since it’s not free and available to everyone! Gotta fix that first.

But I agree, I think the short format of something like the Red Bull straight rhythm is WAY more enticing and exciting to watch than motocross for some random Joe off the street who has a short attention span and probably just wants to see jumps and crashes.

Can can already watch 17 rounds of 5 minute qualifiers and 20 minute mains on a 45 sec track, why would you want more of that? What makes Mx great is what differentiates it from SX. MX is a combination of speed and stamina.

Being a Yamaha guy, after Jett won, I texted my buddy at Honda and told him “congrats on an amazing championship battle down to the end.”
Of course I’m stoked with a Ferrandis 450 title, but the 250 class was epic this year and could have been even better with a healthy JMart.
I disagree with the dying statement. I was at Red Bud and saw the turnout. I studied the crowds on tv each week too.
I love SX and it has its place but so does MX in the summer. I don’t see it going anywhere and staying as strong as ever as new youth pros appear and older guys retire. Jett showed amazing speed early but I didn’t think he could actually WIN the title this early in his career. I was tuned in every week.
Congrats on an awesome series to all.
MX is in a good spot.

Go back to running the number your earn
Don't over rip/water the track night/morning before race
Equal displacement 250 class (2 stroke/4 stroke)
Amateur combine at all tracks(divided into east/west can only race region you live in) with a East/West shootout at the last round
Bonus points for overall finish; 40, 39, 38, 37, etc Make an overall more meaningful, have a reason to finish the race and give incentive/recognition for those that make the effort to go to multiple races even when finishing outside "the points"

Pro Racing Seems pretty healthy, and The big amateur nationals Loretta's etc are doing great 👍.
But there are some very thin fields at local races. Some classes have 5 bikes on the line.
I know it's two different conversations, but generally the people that ride or at least have ridden at some point in their lives are usually the biggest fans.

light me up with those downvotes

but if you want new fans then the faster MX moves to electric the better. Set up warehouse tracks in populated suburban/downtown areas, offer some good relatively affordable e-motocross bikes and we WILL see the sport grow. It may grow differently from how it has in the past, but it will take off in new directions.

125s are much cheaper entry point, much cheaper to maintain so that could bring more riders to the sport. Probably not as much as people hope tho.

I wouldn't like this, but you're not wrong. This could be a an entirely new series, even. "Urban Motocross."

I'd prefer the outdoor MX series remain at mostly natural-terrain tracks in the dirt.
