2018 KTM reed valve failure

35 hours on a 2018 KTM 250SX had one of the inner reed valve snap off. Ran like it had a bad plug. Heads up to anyone owning one. Replaced it with V force system.

Did it tear up the cylinder?

Hopefully it didn't tear anything up? The vforce 4 gives a solid gain in performance and improves the power delivery on these bikes as well. Definitely a worthwhile upgrade!

They running steel reeds?
The first thing I ever did on a 2 stroke is ditch the steel reeds. They're going to fail, and fiber is cheap insurance.

Happened to a buddy’s 2019 250sx. It ate the reed without any issues. He replaced it with a vforce, and it has been good since.

Reeds are a wear item. They need checking and periodic replacement.

my 17 sx250 has 100hrs on the stock reeds maybe I should take a look.....

Mine broke and were eaten by the engine at 2 hrs.
New top end, new crank,
rad valve and boyesen reeds 140 hrs later no issues.

Luckily no damage to the cylinder. Surprised someone only had 2 hours and they failed ???? What's causing this ?Fiber reeds

If my memory serves,on a pulp pod with Tassinari, he said ktm stopped using the vforce on their bikes from the factory and they are now a Chinese made rip off of his design. May be some poor quality reeds out there
