my son - Fox Raceway was very underwhelming. Not from a racing perspective or pros are amazing etc but this facility pales in comparison to most outdoor facilities. It looks like a construction site built an MX track - which really it did.

I want to real quick explain i understand there is soooo much behind the scenes regarding access to major population areas, infrastructure, sponsors, TV, traffic etc and on and on but seriously if you are a random fan who watched the last several MX Nationals you land on this today and say WTF is this place. There has got to be a facility that can satisfy what the MX Nats really are and have been for many many years and still ensure the meca of motocross has a chance to see (socal MX). The artificial uphills/downhills are very well done but this is not MX. A pro national to me and i expect many others involves natural terrain with of course some man made obstacles but lord jesus its gotta be in the outdoors as we refer to these as the Outdoor Nationals.

Smart asses - yes i understand Fox/Pala is outdoors but you know what I mean.

Thanks DC for EVERYTHING you do for MX, it is not lost on me, hopefully this post and maybe a thread can be considered constructive criticism which will help our sport.

Respectfully Yzinger!

lol - getting empty as minutes pass Wink

Please all, understand I cant wait and am so pumped when outdoor nats come on. I dont even subscribe to SX. My point being outdoor MX for AMA pros is my jam, nothing else matters. I honestly think this is legit words no? Does someone think this venue is wicked awesome? As expressed above I don't say this lightly as i know there are so many variants to producing a successful event, jus sayin'

Not an 'awesome' venue but a good one IMO.

The track is nice, challenging, and usually produces good racing. Today it looked hard to pass but many are like that.

I have raced there. Watching on TV today, I thought it looked like a nice facility. The mountains in the background gave a good contrast.

Everybody, aside from GH, wants GH to be on the schedule. It takes two to tango.

ive been to Southwick and Dilla - but been a rabid fan for years. Come on guys, are you really arguing these dry ass lake bed looking tracks are good for the overall vision of the best MX riders and series in the world??

Remember, I am not trying to be negative or critical but just saying its a huge (yuge for you Trump boys) difference between the scenic tracks and these desert garbage. I will even admit a change in venue doesnt mean better racing but visually it is massive.

Respectfully your in Canada

No. I think they're saying "Isn't it cool that we got to have a race?".

But hey at least he “beat” Bud and Glen Helen. Lol Anyone who grew up in SoCal like me, knows that Glen Helen is far superior in every way, but DC had to “win” and do it his way. Meanwhile, the sport and fans all got screwed. Thanks DC!

Nobody thinks Pala is a superior track to Glen Helen. DC has stated multiple times he would love to have GH on the schedule. However, someone’s ego is getting in the way..

Did I miss a meeting?

I was under the impression that MX Sports was trying to shaft the owner to hold a race at his facility?

Genuine question. It sounds like there’s something I haven’t read up on.

I'm not sure SoCal is the Moto Mecca it once was. Low pro rider turnout compared to East rounds , low combine turnout and looked like a light spectator attendance . Didn't look good on paper, to me anyhow.

Think Yzingrer has a point.

Maybe Charlotte area is the new Moto Mecca area. Sure a lot of bikes for GNCC and lots of tracks with lots of people.

Just a thought.

Sure Washougal, Millville, Unadilla, etc look majestic with green grass and thousands of green trees. That’s not the real world in a country as large as the USA. Both Pala and Turkey GP produced great racing and looked identical on tv lol. Enjoy the variance of the venues. Not all of them need to look like a postcard.

I’ve been saying it for a couple years now. From the GNCC scene around Morgantown, ClubMX being just over the boarder, then also South of the Border MX in Dillon. The multiple various types of dirt from literally everything. Beach sand, sand hills, clay, hard pack, and mountains.

I’m not sure there are many places like ClubMX in the country either, it’s incredible.

Also the crowd turn out at Pala was not good. Budds Creak was freaking pack, with numerous dense crowd clusters. Pala didn’t have 1

We’re you at Pala?

Or an observation from your TV?

I ask this because MX is different to everyone. I grew up in so cal and raced the nationals. Every place had a different feel. Back East was completely different then out west. Millville, is amazing. But spectator wise isn’t any better than Pala.

Unadilla was my favorite track out East but for different reasons.

I’ve ridden Pala in the past, even during an invitational industry race, it still reminded me as a tough national track.

Ok I stand corrected. You are correct. Should have read “Pala” is the Spanish word for “Shovel”.
Better ?

Glen Helen is an iconic race track in my opinion. So was Saddleback and Carlsbad. Things change, sadly. It's a shame when business decisions take icons from us. Without those business decisions however, there would be no sport at the level it is. No broadcasting. Not that we have any legit broadcasting available here on Oz.

All we can do is put a voice to our wants. Reasonably and with courtesy as the OP did.

Please bring back Glen Helen. And access to a live broadcast in Australia. (Legit . . .)

And two strokes . . .!!

Both parties need to meet in the middle. If they did they would both be winners. Let me just say this a GP is easier to put on then a National. Glen Helen can by all means survive not having a National but would love to have one for the MX community.
One day this pissing match will cause fans to quit attending. Pala does the best they can for what they have to work with. It’s not half assed because they want to have a quality National.
In business like let’s say sports contracts they bring in an arbitration to resolve differences and I think this could resolve it but that’s not my call. There are issues that I have is having it on TV locally while it’s happening live and that takes away revenue from I know the track but I don’t know about MX Sports that’s not any of my business. I think the purse should increase but the tracks pay it so reduce the fee to have the race they pay to MX Sports. Lower the ticket prices so people can afford a day at the tracks. They spend money there to shirt vendors, they buy food and drinks. If it cost me more to spend a day at the races or take my family to Disneyland I would go to Disneyland. I see races when I go race.
This is not NASCAR, Indy or any other Motorsports it’s a niche sport. It’s out of your and my hands. It’s Bud and Davey’s. Enjoy Hangtown it’s a great place to watch a National. You can see the whole track from the hillsides and tell the Big Moe Clan hello.

Doesn’t the track/promoter need to kick down a small fortune for a GP?
