I’m currently on the standard Renthal fatbar and I’m thinking of trying the renthal fatbar 36!

Who has tried them and what did you like/dislike?

What handlebar did you run in comparison?

I’ve been wondering about those also, mainly how they flex compared to a traditional renthal fat bar.

Are they still around? Roczen went for a twinwall this year and plenty of pro riders seems to run the regular fatbar

I am running the FB 36 bars. I haven’t noticed any flex difference from the regular fatbar but wholly shit they are so much lighter. I was running a regular fatbar RC bend with Neken SFS top triple clamp when I made the switch to the 36. I had to purchase the Luxon FB 36 bar clamp to make it all work, over all I am very happy but worth all the extra money? Probably not… I honestly think why they are not popular is the price point, you are in pretty deep for a bar set up.

The FB 36 bar pad melted pretty dang good from the 110 degree heat in Moab.

An FC350 with a KYB conversion. Very nice!

The last pro I saw running them was Cooper Webb (in one of the pit bits).

Thanks for the info mate! I might stay put with the 1-1/8 fatbar!

I’ve have the 36 and not only
Is it way lighter but the flex is very noticeable. I’d imagine if you wanted something to soften up the front end feel they are excellent. I went back to the fat bar because I felt I need less flex. I’m already on a fc 450 and that frame flex is so noticeably better in turns that the fat bar seemed to give it more control on oversteer.

There is a Renthal 36 review on Pulp from Keefer. He also talked about it on one of the Pulp broadcasts I believe.

http://pulpmx.com/2020/01/21/renthal-fatbar36-first-impression/

I really wanted to try them but at the time only the Renthal bar mounts were available and they suck for the KX; the bottom nuts don't tighten against anything except the rubber dampers (unlike the stock clamps where the bottom nut tightens against a step) and there is no connection between the bar mounts so the bars twist in the clamps really easy. If you try them I'd suggest some other bar clamps like SMV did.

Has anyone weighed the new 36 bars yet? I still can't find their weight listed anywhere.

Not being a smartass… Is there a reason you’re running the hand guard mounts upside down?

The R-Works Fatbar36 is 36% lighter than their standard 28mm diameter Fatbar (240 grams less).

Not being a smart ass one bit… Honestly I have always ran them that way, all my buddies do too. It must be a western Colorado thing, lol.
Yep I just watched an install video and we are definitely ding dongs and running them up side down.
Thanks for the tip, I am going to give it a try the other way,

Thanks I was able to locate that info. I just wanted an actual weight measurement of the 36 bars, to compare to my 28mm Fatbar 821 bend. Also it would be nice to know how much more the 36 bar mounts weigh then the 28 bar mounts.

Average weight savings of Fatbar36 over Fatbar is 240grams, or about 1/2 a pound. Google says thats like a 3iron golf club or 2 rolls of quarters....Bar mounts are very similar. More material, but also a bigger, 36mm hole instead of 28mm.

These videos talk about it:

We provided bar and pad weights in the 150 build thread here:
https://www.vitalmx.com/forums/Bike-Builds,46/Luxon-MX-2019-KTM-150SX-B…

And (most) all the weights of our products relative to stock are available on our website on the "Additional Information" tab at the bottom of each product page. For example here are some bar mount specs:

Stock KTM 1 1/8" mounts - 340g

Luxon MX KTM 1 1/8" mounts - 359g

Luxon MX KTM FB36 mounts - 372g

And of course both of our mounts are dramatically stronger than the stock KTM mounts. The Renthal mounts are separate individual mounts, so they'll easily twist in a tip-over. Ours are solid on the bottom so they won't twist unless you have a really big hit.

I run the Renthal FB36 bars on all my bikes. They save a lot of weight and the ride is still comfortable without too much stiffness like the twinwall bars have. Many of the top pros prefer a really stiff setup - twinwalls with solid bar mounts. But they're very different riders than most people, so you can't make a fair comparison between them and the average rider.

I've always ran my Acerbis handguards that way. Thought you could put them on either way...
