Any recommendations on a good utility side by side/UTV? Looking for something to use for work around a 50ish acre property. Hauling wood, dirt, whatever.
So many choices and I have no idea where to begin.

Dump bed and reliability are the most critical things for me. Don't care about color. Focused primarily towards work but wouldn't mind some play thrown in. I would prefer cargo capacity to seating capacity so probably looking at a 2-3 seater.

Can-Am Defender is a decent all around unit.
Kawi has their utility side too.
Get a used atv for the passengers to follow you and to run and get a jug of fuel when you forget to fuel the tractor.

Polaris is also famous for just deciding to quit making parts for their products so if you did get one I wouldnt hold on to it for any length of time.
Fixing other people’s broke shit doesn't make anyone a user, or to have skin in the game.. I fix my buddie's 2020 Can-am maverick about every other month but I don't speak badly about the brand because I've never owned one, plain and simple. Most(not all) sxs people have more money than brains, the guys around here don't even wash them until something breaks, let alone do any preventative maintenance and these are often $25k-$32k machines.. I couldn't care less what those types of people have to say when it comes to topics like "brand reliability" because I know how they take care of their stuff. They are not OCD at all like us MXer's.. beware of this when listening to reviews/advice from that crowd. If you grease often, change fluids regularly, and keep them clean, just about any sxs on the market now days will perform well for a long time. Start sitting in them and go for some test rides, watch youtube reviews, talk to unbiased users, pick something YOU like.
Too many folks just like to regurgitate what the only guy they know with one has to say, meanwhile they’ve never owned or put miles on one themselves. Good luck and feel free to message me if you ever have questions, I love nerding out on any/all things sxs.
Reliability on these should be really good as Deere typically tests above and beyond and the product itself is engineered for reliability more-so than high performance.
When and if you need service, you can then rely on your local John Deere dealership to help with service work. The Deere dealership and service network is second to none.
We have a couple of the full size 865 XUVs that we use at work and they are always dependable and fun to drive. The engines are smooth with a linear powerband, but still fairly peppy if you want to do some play driving. Suspension is good at low speeds and sprung well enough to handle quite a bit of weight in the bed, but will lack the overall travel and plushness at higher speeds that some of the other "sport" side-by-sides have.
Deere is currently offering 48 months 0% APR if you finance through JD Financial and they also have military and Farm Bureau discounts if you qualify.
As for the SxS, just break open the piggy bank and go get a new Bobcat Toolcat.
Did you know that, on average, 95% of all repairs needed on modern machinery can be executed by the average owner? Of the remaining 5% of repairs that an owner typically can’t do, only 2% of repairs involve software issues that require special connection tools and/or electrical hardware components? Do you understand that software and electrical components traditionally have higher system reliability than mechanical components (meaning they RARELY fail or need servicing.) Did you know that even if the OEM made such tools available to the customer, the purchase cost of that software would be exponentially more expensive than just taking the machine to a dealership and letting them handle the fix? Do you think the average customer would even know what to do with the software interface IF they had the ability to access the software system?? I don’t know many people that know how to flash a payload, or how to interpret 16-bit CAN logic, let alone understand the system architecture well enough to understand how all of the electrical domains interface with the software end electrical logic to make it all work. The average person gets in there and starts “troubleshooting” things, I am willing to bet the chance is higher that something will get messed up than the fix occurs.
John Deere is known as an industry leader in providing repair tools to customers. They have hands down the best spare part inventory in the country, publish very in depth technical guides, provide access to training videos and manuals, and even offer remote access machine connectivity for Deere technician assistance when needed.
The mechanical design on side by sides (and most compact tractors for that matter) are not sophisticated enough where any of this right to repair stuff even comes into play.
I don’t mean to hijack the thread, as this topic could be a whole topic of discussion by itself, but the right to repair movement is so misunderstood by the average consumer that it paints many of our otherwise reputable companies in a bad light.
I very well understand right to repair and it has very little to do with "customers" fixing things. It's more about making resources available for professionals to accomplish work, like how it is with the auto industry.
That's all I will say about that as you are correct that this could be an entire topic unto itself.
