KTM 125 Engine Builder

Edited Date/Time 9/9/2021 10:58am
My son will be moving up from the supermini to a 125 in the near future.

Was curious who was building a good quality engine package?

Looking for a solid package, not a high strung time bomb.

Thanks for your help

Pro circuit built my 16 125SX and it has been bullet proof, top end every 15 or so hours and has never made me push it back to the truck in 150 hours. Broke it down a couple weeks ago cause the crank bearing started raising hell. Never getting rid of this thing.

How is the performance gain over stock?
Did you see the gains low/mid/high in the rpm range?

When I spoke to Pro Circuit last week they would not provide any dyno horsepower improvement numbers for their package.

Which seemed a little odd.

Thanks

Pro circuit or Twisted Development would be my call for 2 strokes. Twisted does many of the top amateur riders.

Because PC theyre selling nothing special. Its already the best 125 engine around. Dont need porting. Get your ktm head set up and know your jetting. Maybe ignition set for race fuel if youre serious.
Do the proper 125 race maintenance through the season. Reeds, pistons, cranks etc.

I don't know how much the AMA technical regulations are different from FIM technical regulations but you might want to look in to EHR Tuning in The Netherlands. Yes you have to ship your engine(s) overseas but you will have a top notch package for around +/- 2100 dollars.

Eddy's service is well known on the european continent with multiple european and world championships in multiple classes.

You can get in touch with him via www.ehr-tuning.com

Feel free to ask Wink

We have tested two full mod packages, one a full PC mod, against our stock bike with 38mm Keihin with STIC Metering block. The STIC bike was preferred every single time. All bikes are 2017/18 TC125's...........

Everything top to bottom was ported, polished, cases were matched, and the carb was bored. Squish is corrected and I run 110 at 32:1 with Castor 927. Really strong bottom for a 125 with an easy transition from mid to top end, once you’re in the higher RPM range the bike just wants to keep screaming.

I went through Munn racing in Waco Texas, I’ve had nothing but good luck with my motors. Port, polish, VMH 12 degree domed piston and head, lectron carb. Bike is insane now

I just bought a KTM 125 with a motor built by Lynk's Racing, and it rips. I then contacted the builder about having a head insert modified for 100LL instead of C12, and he was responsive and professional. Would recommend.

I also just had my YZ250 cylinder ported by Tom Morgan Racing. Very professional. Great communication via both phone and email. Returned cylinder had damn near a small binder on setup and suggestions. I haven't finished putting the bike together so no ride report, but would recommend Tom as well.

Terry Varner is a 2-stroke guru and R&D just built a project KTM 125 for one of the magazines

I swapped the stock carb for a 39mm Keihin pwk carb with a #7 slide, proper jetting, Boyesen reeds, and an RK head insert. My KTM is now a top tier racer that will run with and beat the competition. Total time and cost were less two hours labor and less than $500.00 US Dollars. Best of all it never breaks down. Put the money into the suspension and make sure your son uses all the throttle.

Only takes 2 years and a lawsuit to get your parts back.

I'm sorry to hear you had issues with Terry. He has always had my motors back within a month and they ripped!

VHM from the Netherlands sells entire engine kits, pro circuit gets their cranks from them, so I figure it’s gotta be top notch stuff

Mind sharing where I can purchase those things for my 2022 125, got Mikuni decent but I’m running c-12 and would like to know the jetting for keihin and what to purchase. Thanks

That's the spot for the Metering block. You can also pick up a used carb off Ebay as they cam stock on a bunch of different bikes over they years & just put the STIC in that. Saves a few bucks......
