Thank you. Checking these options out right now.

I 2nd this. I live in this area myself. My recommendations for good places to live close to this without the headaches of traffic would be:

Belmont, NC
Clover, SC
Lake Wylie, SC
“Southeast” part of Gastonia, NC (adjacent to belmont, lake wylie)
Fort Mill, SC
Tega Cay, SC
Rock Hill, SC
Mount Holly, NC
I greatly appreciate you taking the time to help me out. SC sounds like a good option. My wife and I are tired of living in a subdivision environment and prefer to make our next home in a somewhat rural/county setting. We've lived in subdivisions for many years due to the kids and wanting good schools. Schools are no longer a concern for us and we want some privacy. We don't want neighbors 100' on either side of us...

Let me help you out...this location is not in SE Charlotte, it's right next to the airport, west of the city.

Sure, Charlotte has some traffic, like any other city, but it is nowhere near as bad as other major cities. Being off 485, you're isolated from a lot of the 85/77 traffic, depending on where you're going.

I would look at areas to the west of Lake Norman. It still has a rural feel, prices aren't ridiculous, but you're close to the lake, not far from multiple riding areas, and can hop on 16 and be to work in 20-30 minutes.

Thank you. I was aware the Amazon location was west of the airport but appreciate your clarification. I was hoping being off 485 would benefit commute time. Out by the lake would be nice as I own a boat and my wife and I are avid water skiers.

We will be retiring in 2-3 years and we will be sell moto hose, house and everything to go full time RVing. You in a hurry? Grinning

Sorry, someone else had posted it was in SE Charlotte and wanted to make sure we're on the same page. The traffic on I-485 is minimal on the North side of the airport (except at the I-85 junction where you exit, but not too bad), and traffic on 16 is fairly non-existent once you get past the light that sits north of Mountain Island lake.

Don't know your budget, but there are plenty of options near or on the west side of Lake Norman. Mooresville has definitely outgrown its infrastructure, but the surrounding area is great. If someone has a negative opinion of the region, it probably has more to do with their unique financial/living situation than the area itself. Sure it's hot in the summer...quick jump in the lake or your pool will fix that. The climate is fairly mild year-round, plenty of recreational/outdoor activities, and you can always head a few hours South in the winter if the tracks are too muddy.

I'd like to spend $400,000 or so max as I'd be able to pay cash. I'd be willing to go above that for the right property but would rather not take on debt.

The address of the Amazon fulfillment center is:

8000 Tuckaseegee Rd,
Charlotte, NC 28214

I’m 2 hours south near Greenville and the motos scene is a little odd. Sometime there will be 4 tracks open within an hour if you and sometimes you will have to drive 2+ hours to find somewhere to ride. Doesn’t seem like anything is consistently open. Charlotte does seem better with more options. Looks pretty good moto wise from down here lol. I85 is a complete mess south of Charlotte right now. With a few google searches you can see the specifics but quite a few accidents with more than enough people dying. The other week there was an 8 car pile up leaving 5 people dead. I drove up there a few weeks ago and it was one of the worst drives I’ve ever had. I would rather drive through 5 o’clock Atlanta traffic than make the drive back to Charlotte from Greenville again.

Sure. Happy to help with any other questions. As an added plus, you will be pretty close to the US whitewater center if you like to mountain bike and do other outdoor activities. Plus in the summer, they have live music and local, craft beer gardens Thursday through Saturday.

Silver valley is awesome
Silver Valley is the best moto track I have ridden. They only run on Saturday, and it's spotty when they will be open at all. I get the feeling he's working towards something big, spent much of 2020 building water control, fencing, new tunnel, gate, etc. It's a national style track, has the space to accommodate a big race, and is close to a major metro area. Frustrated at times when I have a day to ride, the weather is good, and they aren't open, but SV had served up some of the best moto days I've ever had and is run by lovely folks.

Club MX's practice track is reasonably fun, nothing to go nuts for but very decent, sand. Dreamville MX is worth a stop as well, another sand track with smallish jumps and friendly people. They are doing a rebuild on APMX compound near yadkinville, it needed some work so hopefully the execute well. East Bend MX near Winston-Salem is small but well kept and prepped, kind of a vet/kid style track but they run under the lights and do weeknights, so it can help out with schedule and summertime heat.
