JMART not resigning with Star?

Edited Date/Time 7/25/2021 2:45pm
Just listened to pulps Southwick review, and Steve mentioned a rumor he heard that he will not be resigning with star, how is this not happening? He has had a rough year but when on form he is the man to beat outdoors. Would love to see him and mitch team up...

I'd be down for that. Dump Smith and bring in Jmart.

Forkner can still win SX.

McAdoo can win in SX and can be top 5 outdoors.

Hammaker is building but needs to get healthy from whatever he's got going on.

Shimoda is leading this team and keeping Mitch from going ballistic.

J. Smith is the first one I'd want to replace. He has the speed but simply cannot stay on 2 wheels or put 2 races together without his season ending. You could say "yeah but that's Forkner now too"....difference is Forkner is faster and more of a title threat plus he's been a Team Green rider his whole life. Mitch has way too much invested in him to pull the plug just yet.

He signed with star over PC because of the 450 deal. Leave it to star

When is it time to move up? Even if that means a year or two off a factory bike.

This has been discussed before, as long as teams are willing to pay him a salary to race the 250 and he still has eligibility why would he move up?

If JMart moved up he would have to put his own deal together, which would mean buying his own bikes and trying to piece together enough sponsors he has gas money to make it to the races.

So get paid to race a 250 or go hungry trying to race a 450, I know which direction I would go.

I could see him going to Husky or Ktm for one more year on the 250 sx and 450 outdoors. Husky only sounds like Zach and Mookie next year and we know Mookie is not going outdoors.

Might be resigning, and not re-signing.

He went 1-2-1-dnf with injury. If he was not the man to beat then idk who was. If he didn't get injured he would be right in the points with jett an cooper and my opinion the red plate holder.

Team Pierer should sign him in a heartbeat, they need some SX podiums and Jmart will get them some plus insane outdoors exposure and their full roster is kinda weak.

Surely he could get 20% of OTD at the shop he used to work at?

I think he has a 450 ride in the works. I can see no other reason why he is riding with a bad shoulder, bad wrist and broker fingers with the title out of reach. Time will tell.

If Mookie is on a factory Husky next year, they'll have him riding outdoors for sure,

He would make a great choice for Beta on the 450, since they only plan on doing outdoors the 1st year. I'd take him over BB4.

If he's racing just to get paid, sure. I have a job that I have no passion for and just do it for the paycheck, so I can't fault anyone else for doing the same.

But if he wants to race, and prove himself, against the best, collecting a paycheck in 250 just isn't going to cut it. If you think you have it, take a gamble on yourself.

According the SM the Husky deal is done and it incudes racing outdoors. I don't know how people think mookie or "know" mookie is not going outdoors.

I could see GasGas as a good spot for him. He could stay on a 250 for SX and then move up to 450 for MX or in 2023.

I was thinking the same thing. GasGas could use a solid known quantity 250 guy.

Surely that would be a reason to not race and get fully recovered though?

my opinion is that he needs a solid 250 supercross season and then moves up. I feel he is hoping for that this coming year. I think he needs to move up soon though. Guys retire before they are 30. So is that going to give him 2 years on big bikes I'd like to see him have a long career as a top threat on 450s

This makes no sense unless the potential ride said they need to see more out of him. Otherwise if you have something lined up take the time to get 100%

Agree. Why come back if injured to “prove” anything.

He had the red plate early in the season. He’s a 2x MX champion. He’s got an impressive resume.

There is no need to come back if still injured. He proved he’s still got it.

Someone is either going to sign him to a 450 deal or not. I don’t think riding injured and fighting for podiums changes anything. And if it does, then team managers are stupid.

Not prove anything other than he is a stand up dude who respects the fact a sponsor is paying him and a team to race as best as he can if he is healthy enough. AND he loves to race, he's been away long enough and YOLO. If he finishes the outdoors on a roll as he heals up, his stock only goes up.

It might be just the thing for him to have after season surgeries, skip SX to heal up again, and come back strong for the outdoors in '23.

I'm sure he will sign where he can make the most money over the longest period of time. He can win on any bike pretty much.

OK. The STAR bike have proven to be less reliable than the CRF. They have been caught and passed by the CRF. They are no longer the dominant 250 MX bike. Maybe because they cannot manage 10 bikes. The Husky has more wins! The Honda has more wins!
