Not sure how this will go but have to respect the determination to give it a go this weekend. How do we think he will do with these injuries and is it worth the risk?

You have to wonder if he's pushing a little too hard to try and buy favor for a 450 opportunity, but only he knows what his true level of comfort is. As a fan, I'm always more excited to watch when he's on the track, he has one of my favorite riding styles. He seems like he's racing the track more than the guys around him - just an assault for 30 min. on every obstacle.

Even injured I think he can get consistent top 5's, but as we saw in Thunder Valley it's not going to take much to sideline him again. He'll have to make a concerted effort to stay off the ground, even if it means sacrificing some of that aggressiveness which could keep him off the podium more than he's willing to accept.

He has 2 more years in the class after this one.

I love that he is out there and I appreciate his drive to do so. That being said, the title is probably not realistic, so it seems crazy to go out there without being fully healed up. I realize he is on the last year of his contract but it's not like he's going to be sitting on the sideline with no offers. Star may move on, but you'd think Gasgas or Husky would willing step up. Either way, he knows what he is doing, so I support him. I just hope he doesn't end up doing this, get no title and then go into next season still nursing injuries again.

I have to agree with this. I think at the end of this year there could possibly be 2-4 open 450 bikes. JMart and his team know this and want to prove his worth to see if a team will take a chance on him with a 450. No way he is 100% or even maybe 75% but he has to put all he has out there to try and secure a future ride.

I think he's in a very tough spot. 1 year deal, so he sort of needs to be out there. He's got a screwed up shoulder, so another small crash and there's a good chance he'll aggravate it again.

He can't keep rehabilitating the shoulder and hope that it holds up. Sooner or later he'll have to get it fixed.

We all know he's a very capable rider, but SX is where he really needs to get it done. One bad luck late in the season and he might have to miss SX 2022.

Again, tough spot to be in.

If I was in his camp I would have recommended getting it fixed this year. He will have no problem getting a 250 factory ride next year on some team.

He only has one year deal? I thought he was locked in at star. Maybe if star doesn’t work out next year Rockstar Husky or PC? Can’t see him wanting to get off that Yamaha though.

You can't point out in 250 outdoors.

You really cant say that for sure though. If he scores more than 135 points in the next supercross season he is done championship or not. He's already done it 3 times now do it a 4th time and you're out. This is exactly why he pulled out of the SX series last year.

He can ride 250 outdoors all he wants though.

One year contract or not. I feel like Star would be dumb to let him go. Just seems wise to call it for the summer, come back with a vengeance next year

I'm sure you're right about them not letting him go but he's racing for leverage at this point. The better he looks the more money he can negotiate. The more teams willing to bid for him the more leverage he could have with Star.

Sorry but this is a bad move. Get whatever is wrong with the shoulder and arm fixed for next season. Nothing he could do in the remaining rounds will make him more desirable as a free agent.

A few of the weaker riders could learn from this. If he feels he is ready to race then so be it. No reason to sit on the side and collect a check.

I broke my scaphoid in early April and I'm just now getting back to almost 100%, and I didn't need surgery. I have no idea how he is going to hold on with a broken scaphoid. Especially since he crashed at Thunder Valley because his hand blew off the bars.. I'm not sure what he's expecting to be different if the bone still hasn't healed and now he has broken fingers to deal with along side it.

Didn't a scaphoid injury end Rick Johnson's career? And nearly end Stewarts? Why even mess around with it..

Levi kitchens will smoke martin and might even win the race coming up this weekend.

Right, I'm sure he wouldn't line up if he didn't feel he was ready. He knows what it takes to run 30+2.

Like you said he needs to be out there for a good ride next year, so I think this decision is made based on that.

Missing SX 2022 wouldn't be a nightmare scenario because he still has a much better chance at getting it done in MX next year, IMO.

The famous rookie debut talk. They all usually get hyped up and end up 10-14th overall on the day. Witch is very respectable but its not often they come in an win right away.

Not sure why he just didn't fix it at this time? I just had my tendon fixed in my shoulder in Feb. I now ride, almost four months of healing. Not sure if he fixes it after the season that is long enough to be ready for next year. I had issues with it a few years ago and lived with it. Last August racing it ripped and caused more damage to the rest of my body that night.

This. ∆
He has multiple chronic injuries.
He is inviting a career ending crash for what?

If it was not bad enough watching him ride thinking if he takes one more big one... Now it will be if he take one more little one...

I am not so sure if this is a great move for Star either. I mean if he gets between Cooper and a championship...

He'll be fine until Troll comes back. As soon as they both race on the same day again I can assure they won't be on my fantasy team.

If he wins he's an instant legend. Well.....actually he already is a legend but this would greatly add to his legacy.
