I had a 16 and now a 17 (with CV forks) and they are my favorite bikes. They do everything very well but the most glaring thing is how stable they are. I had Suzukis before these so maybe that skews my perception since the Suzukis had some rear shock voodoo shit going on. Anyway, I put a set of CV forks on my 17 and it went from very good to amazing.

People complaining don't even ride or buy new bikes anyway.

The new chassis is much thinner and feels much lighter. Compared to the 18 YZ and 17 SXF I recently sat on, it is significantly narrower at the frame and shroud which I like a lot. Kawi nailed the ergos and chassis feel on this bike. I had previously ridden friend's 09 and 13 KX450Fs and hated them - they felt like tanks.

I have 2 seasons on my 16 with zero problems.

I have a 16 with two seasons. IMO the weakness on this bike is the fork. I have since got the spring conversion. Other than an air fork issue, no other problems.

Have my 17 for sale for 5,000 and no one even messages me or even comes to see it. I work at a Kawi dealer and have never understood why cause they're not prone to major issues like some other brands, they don't have any crazy trick parts stock but they hold together and seem to not hold value. Great for someone who wants a lightly used bike but sucks when time t sell

I have a 16' and love it. Added a Rekluse, FMF exhaust, swapped out the air forks after a few rides for a set of revalved KYB's I had from an old bike and now its the best four stroke I have ever owned. I have other newer bikes that I ride but just can't bring myself to sell this one, I like it that much!

I have both a 17 and a 19 with spring forks on both. The 17 is a really good handling bike, as good as the 19 IMHO. I do prefer to take out the 19 as I like the juice clutch and the e-start and at least on my two bikes the 19 motor is better - quite a bit more overrev.

But overall the 16-18 is still a really good bike (with a spring fork).

I had my 2016 pretty well dialed in. Great bike, wish I could have kept it. But I sold it in February and used the funds on a new YZ250F. Like everyone else said, great bike overall. The KYB spring fork off a 2012 bolted right up and made a huge improvement. And Tokyo Mods did the mapping and got the bike really running nice. Exhaust seems unnecessary, but certainly made the bike look better.

Overall solid bike and all my friends who rode it liked it as well.

Edit: just realized this thread is old as hell
