How many times does it stroke? That would be an odd thing to say. I thought maybe TerryK came up with it and it meant "4-troke" and "2-troke", or maybe Crash82 came up with it and it meant "2-toke" and "4-toke". Smile

You guys sound like a bunch of school girls.

RC is a NASCAR racer and the two stroke is going to die weather anyone likes it or not.
so what will the 50,65 and 85 riders be racing?

Well for starters, its not the nationals. This is a 4 lap exibhition race that takes place at the nationals. It seems to me its more in the spirit of remembering the two stroke as opposed to who wins/loses.

Secondly I know that James isn't racing the nationals which is why I don't respond to the any of the pages of threads and bullshit on the topic. It is how it is and I am okay with it.

Lastly, I simply said it would be cool to see him on that bike. It really has nothing to do with understanding anything. 99% of the words written on this board are pure speculation. In fact, your entire bit about being on vaction is bullshit speculation according to James himself.

Then again there is probably no explaining it to a person that asks questions with a period...seems like you have it all figured out.

i know euro mags call them that way because in italian strokes is tempi and in spanish strokes is tiempos so maybe somebody saw an spanish or italian mag call a smoker 2t and it stuck.

and after watching a motul oil bottle it has a big 4t on its label so it must be a euro thing.
exactly....just a question of transulation..............
but you should remember that it is in europe that exists a country called england, where the inglish is talked, and it is also "strokes" there....

Its my abbreviation for "2 Stroke" just like 4t means "4 Stroke" ......just gets old spelling it out all the time lol

The "t" actually stands for "turns"

In a Two Stroke, the crank makes two turns, or changes of direction, per firing. In a four-stroke, the crank make four turns, or changes of direction, per firing.

One complete revolution of the crankshaft is two turns.

RC's out of shape and has a gut now.

He's not going to be anywhere near where Reed, RV, or Alessi were.

This is a P.R. deal and nothing too serious that he'd be busting his ass to train for.

Bzzz, try again. A two stroke only makes one turn of the crank to complete the two strokes. A four stroke only makes two turns of the crank to complete the four strokes so that can't possibly be correct. So if "t" means "turns" you would have to use "2t" if you are talking about a four stroke. Wow that wouldn't get confusing. Smile

so doesn't a 2 stroke fire each "turn" and a popper fires every 2 turns?

a turn being a revolution?

Yes, so "t" can't possibly mean "turns".

And once again we digress into stupidity! The earlier explanation was correct. It's a Euro thing. Motorex as well as Motul use MX4T and MX2T for their oil nomenclature and this is where it comes from. Either way, does it really matter?
James would lap RC huh? Can I have some of what you are smoking? Maybe over a two hour moto because RC is a little out of shape but get real.
Anyway this is an exhibition "race" and I am sure RC will just get out front and start playing to the crowd. He has been riding the RM250 and not the 450 when he rides at home from what I understand so his speed if he wanted to would still be very good. Either way I will be there and it will be so cool to see Ricky ride again.

If this does happen and RC races the two stroke, does he do the leap?

Considering that he used to do it on the second lap of practice, I'd say yes.

Forget about RC, I'm curious to see how fast Stanton will be. I think he's going to be fast as shit.

When I first read this I wasn't even thinking about the 2-stroke invitational...I thought he was lining up against Chad Reed and the boys....and he would still put it to em....don't get it twisted

That's the word on the street.

Stanton's real fast, but has never been interested in racing again - at all.

I'd love to see Stanton go out there and put the smack down on some of these young pups out there at the Nats that, "..get tired."

No, Turns meaning a change in piston direction. At a crank position of about "0" degrees, the piston starts it's downward travel. At a crank position of about "180" degrees, the piston reverses direction and begins traveling upwards. Two changes in direction, aka two "Turns".

But then again, what do I know... I only been building Two-Cycle engines for more than half my life.
