So all my boys have bikes of some description now whether Motocross, trail or electric

My youngest is coming upto 8 months

I am wondering whether a brand new PW 50 bought now would be a good investment ready for him to use when he is ready or am I just being silly

The PW has doubled in price in the last 20 years

If you can find a deal on new or used, go for it. The design has been the same forever and I don’t see them changing it anytime soon. I found a Craigslist deal when my kid was 1 and I held it till he was ready.

It is not complicated. They are a good bike with a 40 year legacy, short-term utility, and good resale. They go for less than 1500 brand-spankin-new, and seldom less than $800 in great used condition.

Buy a PW if you have a need and find a good deal. Sell a PW if you don't have a need.

And then, go for a steak dinner.

I wouldn't bother buying a new one if that's what you mean. I'd start talking to Dad's of kids at the track that look too big for theirs. Then when you find a good deal jump on it.

No point in buying them new. Those things are tanks and you can rebuild the motor, plastics and graphics for less than $150. Your kid won't know or care.

Buy a new one. I bought a ‘95 for $450. Put another $400 into getting her rideable. PeeWee Cycle out of Michigan has been a reliable source for parts. They upgraded the forks in 2018 (?) - I have no idea if they’re any better....

My sons first bike when he was 3 back in 1981. Those things are amazing! It would haul my 6’2” 180ib body around our little backyard track.

The used kids bike market is insane right now. If you want one I’d suggest brand new over a used one. For $200-$300 more you are getting some I turn that hasn’t been abused. The one I bought n 1981 is still around n a buddies garage....he uses it to run down to the mailbox

Bought a one year old and it looked like a new one. Twelve years later I sold it for the same price. My wife posted it on her Facebook and thought I was crazy when I told her the price. Hour later it was sold!

If you’re into building bikes, buy a basket case or two and have fun building it, I picked one up at a yard sale for $350. I think I had $200 in parts, (Pwonly)
My boy rode it a handful of times before he lost interest. Sold it for $700. I’m pretty sure I had more fun building the bike than my boy did riding it.

It had a really nicely done chrome platted frame, I’m not a PW expert but I never seen one like it before, thing threw some pretty good roost after a top end.

Picked one up last year for $500’ with new tires and some extras. I have 2 nephews, a granddaughter and another one on the way. Seemed like a good investment

Great investment if you picked one up pre Covid. What was $500 is now $1000. Dealers were selling them for $1800otd. Now some dealers want $3k +

Supply and demand.

Since you have lots of time yet, I would just start looking for a good used one now. With enough time looking you might happen on a decent deal. If not, then just go buy a new one when the time actually is up.

I’m in the same boat. I borrowed one for my daughter to learn and now she’s hooked. My friends going to want it back sooner than later..my son needs a 65 also and with used prices being a few hundred less than msrp it’s probably best to just buy two new ones. Have another kid
on the way so they will both get well used..my other friend has a full mod pw50 he built and his daughter rode it once. Going to see if he will part with that otherwise it’s a new one..

They haven't££ changed
I remember the red and white one santa brought me when I was 4

If they are £1700 new now
I'm worried that in a year or 2 i may be looking at second hand ones for same money
