KYB “kit” suspension on a ktm

Edited Date/Time 5/20/2021 2:40pm
Has anyone tried the full kit suspension on a ktm? Looking for reviews before I pull the trigger. Can’t find any reviews since 2015.

If this belongs in tech help I apologize. Please move.

I have had 2 sets of KTM kyb forks. It all depends on who does the valving set up. The A kit has stock kyb internals with coated tubes and upper's. The kyb ktm cartridge kit will work just as well as the A kit minus the $$.

One thing to note here is that Chad did end up going to the KYB kit internals in WP outers as the WP outers are more suited to the steel frame.

Yes, he said that the KYB were too stiff and the WP had the right flex properties.

He also said that once he got his hands on 52mm CV Forks, it was undeniably better.

i have a set of KYB a kit Air forks for sale. been a really good fork if you are into air. ive also had the KYB spring on ktm and liked it just the same. both are worth the money over stock in my opinion.

I have both the a kit as well as the kyb inserts, if I were to do it again I’d most likely
Just go with the inserts because they both perform very similarly, a kit may be a tad smoother but that’s about it. Since I am down to one bike and am going to dabble woth harescrambles as well as mx I am going to swap my a kit guys into wp tubes so I can swap forks out for different rides as opposed to
Swapping the entire front end over. My guy does kyb inserts setup for your weight/ability for around $1600

I have the KYB A Kit Spring fork on my 350 and a set of the
Stock forks with the KYB spring internals and I have a 250sxf with stock air fork set up by Enzo.
The A kit definitely feels the best to me on rough tracks.
The KYB inserts feel better overall than the air fork but the bumps feel harsher to me.
The air fork feels lighter but they bottom easier when they are plush and when I stiffen them up they don’t feel plush enough. I can adjust them to feel the best on some tracks but they are just a pain in the ass to deal with unless you like messing with them all the time.

How this for a review. You never see kyb conversion for sale but on any day there seems to be a new set of cone valves for sale

I just got the cartridge kit and the rear shock for my SX 250. Unfortunately the setup that Technical Touch made for me is quite a bit too stiff. Spring rates are spot on but it's just too stiff and slow for my speed and tracks that i ride.

But a friend of mine has the same cartridge kit with a different setup on his FC250 and it's awesome. So i just need to get mine redone and it will be golden.

My suspension builder uses KYB on his bikes, KX450f, his previous husky and on one of his riders KTM125 and they prefer it over the conevalve/traxx.

If anyone is interested I have a customer that has a brand new set of KYB Kit forks and Xtrig clamps that he never installed. They are sitting on a shelf at his house and may be interested in selling them. They were bought for 2021 KTM 450 but will fit Husky and Gas Gas as well. Set up for 190lb rider.

I'll get with him and find out what he wants for them. I'm not 100% sure he wants to sell them. He likes to collect parts. I'll post a price as soon as I hear back from him.
