Ktm 200sx (white sxs build) 2018

Hi exactly as jmx82 said it’s a straight forward swap for the 2015 frame. I think there is a build thread on here of one that was done.

I built one with a 2015 frame. It’s a straight forward swap with a few minor adjustments. Very fun bike! The main ingredient to that engine Is an actual 200sx pipe and power valve controller.

That will be a nice build. You can order the correct air boot for the air box from any ktm/husqvarna dealer. I forget the model number. But it is just the tc version. Which will make lining up the engine easy.

Nice build paul. Hope it’s going well for you? Any questions give me a shout. I’ve around 14hrs up on my build and everything has been fine. Light and fast! And corners on rails. I’ve been playing between the 200sx ignition and a 144/150sx ignition. With the 150 i installed a 2 stage map switch and find a big differences between the two map modes. It’s breaks the grey wire.

Cheers mate, frames away getting powder coated, did you use flywheel, stator and cdi from the 150? Did it make much difference over the 200 stuff? What gearbox you running? And sprocket? Cheers Paul

No I only used the cdi. Just had to trace what wires were going where and spliced it in using custom ip rated electrical male/female plugs. I extended the wiring then so I now have the cdi and hour meter located in the battery holder tray in the air box. I will take pictures and post here.
I’m running a 200sx Pv govner/actuator. And I have a 125sxs 5 speed gearbox fitted. So I think there is a longer/wider 2 and 3 gearing.
I’m running a 14 front sprocket and I think 46/47 rear. It is a great bike on motocross tracks. Easier to ride then the 250 2 stroke.

Got a great deal on these xtrigs during lockdown.
Must get around to fitting them.
Has any one any info on the Mxtech lucky carbons compared to kyb inserts.
Thank you

You have a fantastic job done on that paul. I’ll keep a eye out to see if I hear of a barrel around. You running a sx right rad? The 250sxf one will work as well.

The grey male/female plugs are what I’m using.
Makes taking off the subframe a lot easier.

Here’s where I’ve mounted mine. Stock loom is perfect length. Barrel has turned up at langcourts, just a waiting game now. I also just altered the standard 450 rad, machined up a hose tail in the lathe and welded it on, cut and repositioned the original hose tail.

Have you guys tried the 39mm? Is it just junk? I have a 38mm off of a 150sx, just trying to decide which is better

Running the 38mm as well. Never had a problem with it.

I have two key questions for anyone that has completed the 200 conversion , #1 what are the sizes of the rear swingers spacers? #2 Can you share the templates for the head stays? With these two things the lower mounts are a snap.

Hi. The spacers are very simple. Place your engine in the chassis. Then line up your front and rear sprockets and measure each side. Between swingarm and engine cases.
The head stays are different story they will depend how you have the engine mounted on the lower mounts.

Yes but if we already have working head stays and the know width of the spacers, they will give us the exact placement for the lower mounts. Sharing templates would be helpful.

Unless you are working with a new engine/ new chassis templates are pretty useless. Every used chassis/ engine will have wear. What year engine? What model bike/ rolling chassis are you working with?

Hi Mark
That will be a nice bike when finished. Have you tried fitting the motor in the chassis? It might be a tight fit. That looks from the picture as a 125 chassis. A tip for the head stays is make them from cardboard first. And when your happy with the bends and shape. Make them fully.

Yes the cardboard idea is good, think I will insert pipe cleaners in the corrugated ridges to hold the shape. I've done a couple fittings and motor fitment looks good.
