Somebody earlier in this thread mentioned something about a “prominent 250 team” having issues with the stock clutch plates and supposedly the fix was clutch plates from a 20. I put Hinson plates in mine just to be safe, 17 hrs and no issues so far.

How many hours does everyone have on theirs?? And had anyone heard about clutch issues?

Apparently there’s too much pressure in the brake line. They ended up getting a smaller clutch line and not having the master cylinder filled up so much
Did the plates break and take out the crank or anything?
Just put 2020 fibres in, they won’t break any more

This bike handles like an absolute dream after a revalve from Enzo, the FMF system maybe added some more mid to top, but mainly sounds and looks a whole lot nicer. Stock mapping with green coupler. Would really like to pull the trigger on a vortex I think it’d be the icing on the cake 👌🏼

Nice! I agree, a revalve has mine cornering insanely well now. It’s so good in ruts, just a ton of fun. Are you running a 110 rear on yours?

The vortex is worth it!

Asking if PC makes a good exhaust for a Kawasaki KX250f is like asking if mcdonalds has good french fries lol

Yes, I ran the stock 100 3s, a 110 mx52, and now a fresh 110 33. Think I prefer the 110 not much a difference though

Anyone with a 19-20 kx450 also have the 21 250 know if the 450 air filters will work on the 250? Just got the 250 and haven’t tried one yet and wasn’t sure

Yes they work, same filter. That’s what I’ve been using in mine .

Kinda figured since they look the same but wasn’t totally sure since oem parts diagrams show different part numbers between them thank you

Kawi posted some stuff on IG yesterday and people were commenting about clutch issues on the new 250. Anyone having issues?

I'm interested to hear more opinions from owners but the clutch has already been discussed top of this page and end of last I believe.

I have heard about the clutch plates breaking. I have a 21 and have 40 hours on it. Lots of off road racing and most of them in mud through the winter and spring here. I practice on moto tracks. I have inspected mine several times and haven't had any issues yet.
So far its been a great bike with no issues.

That don't make sense to me, About smaller line and less fluid. Smaller line I think would increase PSI. Like holding you finger over a open end of a water hose. With less fluid you would still have the same amount of presser

My kid has a 21 and has 24hours on it so far with 3 desert races. After the last race on Sunday he said that has clutch was acting up. “Felt like clutch was not disengaging”. Is this a symptom of broken steels?

I am bailing off a KX450X for a KX250X for now and just got my suspension back, and a PC T-6 slip on installed. Looking forward to getting out on it this week.

The clutch problems I am reading about are concerning.

Also, anyone measuring the exact amount of oil needed on changes and then not seeing it in the sight glass very well?

How did you get the slip on and give me the hook-up lol. I also put in the exact amount of oil the manual called for and it showed very low in the site glass. I added another 250ml and it was normal after a small warm-up.

Mine is the same, I usually end up with about 1000ml’s.

I ordered my Slip-On through Rehmerts Kawasaki in Versailles OH. It took about 2 weeks but I got it!

I will add a little more oil to see if that brings it up to the level I'd like to see in the glass.

I'd like to get out and give it a good ride soon.

Thanks. Any insight as to why, when following the manual specifically, the oil barely reads on the sight glass?

The manual has a specific amount to not over and or under fill the engine. The sight glass can’t take into equation oil when the bike is warm vs. cold. It’s the dumbest thing to have a sight glass on a bike.

Are you guys doing as the manual says ? Put in the specified amount of oil, let the bike idle for a few minutes, then shut off wait a few minutes and check sight glass level with bike on level ground. I follow the manual and it is about spot on, sometimes add an extra 50cc but never more

There is the variable of how much oil you are actually draining. I warm the bike up to make the oil thinner and drain better. I also tilt the bike side to side front to back to get as much out as possible and I wipe the oil out of the filter housing. I figured that is more thorough than the manual accounted for so I use the sight glass as a consistent measurable. The manual does state that the oil level should be near the middle of the sight glass.

I added the 1000cc started it up and it wasn't in the sight glass. So I added another 250 and let it run and came back and the oil was in the middle. Weird! I didn't pre-fill my oil filter last time though do you pre-fill it with oil?

My 15 was the same way. ALWAYS measure. The sight glasses are terrible on these bikes. So many people over fill them trying to get the oil in the middle of the sight glass.

I'm going to drain mine tonight and measure the amount I get out. I typically will run the bike easily around the yard a couple minutes to warm it up and then drain.

I have some extra filters as well so I may do a full oil/filter change and try to measure the exact amount I get out of it before adding. I'm curious now.... LOL

The manual explicitly states to have it between the low and high line on the sight glass. It would freak me the hell out if I couldn't see oil in that thing, but apparently people add the 1000cc and go with it...I'll go by the sight glass for piece of mind I guess. Have since the 90's when I was in elementary school lmao

Overfilling it - worst that happens is it’ll blow it out through the breather. Under fill it and it has less oil to keep everything cool and carry the clutch material in.

I’ll err on the side of over full.
